Reader Tips

Men At Work, Down Under
Please note, the auto publishing cron jobs don’t seem to be working so posts that are normally scheduled are delayed until an admin can publish them. I’ve work today as well, so don’t be surprised if all of a sudden there are five posts that pop up later in the day.
Cheers,
lance

  1. Imagine applying for a job at a bank that is offering 30 new positions. You get there, only to find out that 85,000 people have applied for the jobs. Before you read this article, it is interesting to note that last weekend, I rented a new Fiat 500 just for the fun of it. Guess where it was built?? Toluca, Mexico. Whatever happened to building cars in Torino, Italy?? This is the end result.

  2. Another terrific song from the 1980s and one which brings back some fond memories. It was popular on some of the shortwave stations I used to listen to during that time.

  3. Worse yet, he might actually think that people will take him seriously.

  4. Too bad Joe Oliver is not Canada’s Natural Resource Minister rather than teenager we have now.
Yeah, but did Harper appoint an ambassador for climate change like the political version of bubble-gum pop singer Rene Simard just did?

  5. The Transportation Safety Administration Red Team came to Minneapolis St. Paul International last Thursday. MSP TSA Failed miserably. 17 out of 18 times they successfully snuck in guns, knives and drugs. 95%!!!!!!!
It was so bad, they halted testing.

It was even worse than last year, when they failed 9 of 12, or 75%. Last years story also contains the little nugget that 67 of 70 tests nation wide failed.

  6. In a remarkable show of biased reporting, the major news networks in the United States have studiously avoided any mention of the controversial case of Charlie Gard, an 11-month-old British baby suffering from a debilitating genetic condition, sparking accusations of censorship.

“….. the story should have been prime material for the liberal mainstream media, given their “infatuation with death.” The problem, she observed, was that public opinion had swung firmly in support of the family, against the intrusion of the state. “No one dares champion the death of a baby whose pictures everyone can see, a little boy whose life his parents are fighting tooth and nail for,” she wrote. And so the networks opted for silence, acting as if the huge story simply didn’t exist. A timely reminder that fake news isn’t just what is said, but what is intentionally left out.”
A timely reminder that fake news isn’t just what is said, but what is intentionally left out. Abso-frigging-lutely!

    Unless he’s Syrian.
    Sorry, “Syrian”.

A former ISIS recruiter in Britain, now in Syria, wants to come home.Reports say she is crying and disillusioned. As one of the world’s most wanted terrorists,it will be interesting to see if Britain will allow her to come back, assuming ISIS gives he permission.
Maybe someone should crowd fund for her and buy her back from ISIS.

“Doctors quit ‘toxic’ OMA, tired of being Liberal tools
    Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
A few years ago, we both became involved in medical politics to advocate for quality care for our patients in the face of growing healthcare cuts.
It dawned on many physicians that poor representation by the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) enabled the provincial government’s systematic dismantling of our healthcare system.
In March of this year, we were both elected as chairs of the two largest OMA districts, representing nearly 20,000 physicians in District 5 (GTA, Dufferin, Muskoka, Simcoe) and District 11 (Toronto).
We had hoped to make the OMA into a member-driven organization that was transparent and accountable to frontline physicians.
Instead, the OMA’s increasingly toxic environment has driven us to submit our resignations today.”

  11. This is a nasty sounding story of a government land grab in BC. I am pretty sure he is right in his claims of corruption by government officials. I don’t know enough about this case to judge its complete veracity. Perhaps others can shed some light on this.

  12. Unbelievable what’s happened to Ontario since Harris. Thoroughly corrupt and despotic. Who would want to move there? Who would want to raise their kids there? Who would want to start a business there? The scum has literally risen to the top in that province. Thank goodness I can leave this shitehole in a couple of years.

  13. Intriguing. Being a BC’er, I thought I would take a look since it was all new to me.
I found the following, which gives a little more info, albeit 2 yrs old….
    https://bobmitchellwriter.wordpress.com/2015/05/21/b-c-family-seeks-b-c-court-of-appeal-review-of-foreclosure-of-pacific-rim-resort-in-tofino/
Note that my search was brief, but I only found reference to this “story” on a couple of small sites. The theory seems to be that the BC Gov wanted the land to give back to the local natives and his own lawyer conspired with them.
But beware, since I could find no effort anywhere to present the other side to this story, it is very strongly biased and one-sided. Would be interested to see the legal reasoning for the foreclosure. I’m sure someone else could do better than me, there has to be more current and more balanced info out there…

“Policy Disaster: Energy “Insulation Madness” Turns German Residential Buildings Into “Death Traps”!”
    “German “death traps”
London, it turns out, is only the tip of green insulation fire hazard ice berg. Recently German authorities were forced to clear out an entire residential block in the western city of Wuppertal due to the inflammable insulation material placed earlier on the building. Frankfurt’s fire chief said that German residential buildings recently insulated in a like manner are not safe, contradicting what politicians, industry groups and insulation experts claimed in the aftermath of the Grenfell Tower inferno.
With the millions of homes that have been fitted with the insulation to meet green energy requirements, many residents are in fact residing in “death traps” waiting to spring, ruhrkultur.de writes.”

My wife and I just returned from a three week vacation in South Africa. On an in-country flight from Port Elizabeth to Durban, the baggage inspector halted my carry-on bag saying I had two contraband items. To which I said, “That’s not possible.”
To my chagrin, I had moved my little first aid kit from my checked bag to my carry on and the baggage x-ray picked up my little folding pocket knife and a small pair of scissors. Good on them.
Then in Johannesburg I was stopped again. This time it was my small aerosol can of bug spray. But once again, good on them for spotting it.
Nonetheless, every time I’m part of one of those long snake lines of passengers waiting to remove my shoes and belt, I’m reminded that I’m just one of millions doing this daily. All due to a religion which need not be named. The cost in time, money, anxiety and infrastructure is incalculable and part of their war against us.
