Our first American Kennel Club Best in Show win, awarded to Am.Can.Ch.Minuteman Justified in Fargo, ND yesterday. Thanks to you all for your indulgence when I’m on the road and away from the blogosphere. It’s a crazy sport, but it keeps me sane.

  1. Nice work! I’ve always thought that sanity is in the eye of the beholder.

  2. ……Congrats on winning that fantastic ribbon Kate, but how about a pic of the dog too?

  3. It could have been worse… A Gulf Coast Love Bug hatch could have stripped the paint!

  4. Congratulations to you and Minuteman!
Ouch! Sand-flies? For a trip like this spray some Pam on the front of the vehicle and the bugs don’t bake on quite so severe. For cleaning off, spray with Fantastic, let soak in the bugs for a bit. Maybe more than once and wash in between applications. For a collection of that magnitude you might need to spray three or four times. Cheaper than the commercial Bug spray cans.

  5. Congratulations. Nice to see you reach the top.
And yes, we do want photos of the winner.

  6. Or find a good rainstorm, or leave the sprinkler on overnight straddling it (I haven’t tried the last, but it should work). Bugs are soluble. Lots of water take them right off without elbow grease.

  7. Wow, SDA readers are witnessing lots of WINNING these days.
    Congratulations.

  8. majic orange hand cleaner works wonders
when I professionally detailed cars, a bit of compound and a quick buz with buffer, and bugs be gone. You let the compound sit for about 10 minutes before buffing

  9. Wow ! Best in Show ! Way to breed ! Way to train ! Way to groom ! Nice achievement !
Speaking as someone who just came in from scrubbing a long, nasty, winter off my “outside” car … where it seemed the more I scrubbed and rinsed, the more dirt, leaves, and schmutz came flowing out of every crack, nook, and cranny on my automobile. I’m gonna need the power buffer to get this winter off my paint. BUT … at least I don’t have a build-up of thousands of bug exoskeletons digging into my clearcoat. Dang … that’s gonna need some kind of solvent !

  10. Congrats on the medal. Hope that’s not an invasive species of blood thirsty mosquitoes. We have enough of them in Ottawa!

  11. Oh WOW! That’s big. Huge congrats to you – keep it up and keep sane. WE need you to help us keep sane. Ear scratches all round – pups, owners, handlers – oh, and Lance too!

  12. When I see a bug screen like that, I’m less inclined to get another motorcycle and go on a long road trip. Congrats on the prize and your stamina in going to all those shows.

  13. Small Dead Insects
    Many minutes justified.
Thankyou for sharing your time with me/us, Kate and Lance.
