  1. Gee, didn’t another western country do that a while ago? I wonder how that worked out…..

  2. If he’s NOT a pot smoking ski instructor and part time drama teacher, France is going to be in trouble no matter how nice his hair is!

  3. ” instead chose a rich, white businessman with no government experience ”
It could have been worse, it could have been the Trump-like candidate who was only a one trick pony, who only had one good plank in her platform, crack down on out the of control Muslim immigration.

  4. Better to have one strong plank in your own platform that you believe in than have to be forced to accept planks of dubious quality from a bunch of foreigners. For those of you not up on history you may want to read up on the French Revolution and the accompanying Reign of Terror, because what’s heading down the highway in France will make that look like a walk in the park.

  5. This is what Scott Adams calls “no government experience”:
Masters in public admin from Sciences Po, Inspector of Finances in the French Ministry of Economy from graduation until 2008, deputy rapporteur for the Commission to improve French economic growth, at which point he spent 50,000 Euro to buy out his civil-service contract to work in finance. 2012-2014 deputy secretary-general Hollande’s Élysée palace. Then Minister of Economy and Finance for a year from August 2015.

  6. Well that does make it look like he has somewhat more experience than our own Trudeau (How could that be??), but he is also into drugs and tax evasion, eschews the notion of “French culture” and is prepared to bring in more immigrants when migrants are already overwhelming France. I think the problem may be that France does not wish to admit its problems. Le Pen was too much of a dose of reality.

  7. So, the ” outsider” touted by the MSM turns out to have been just as much an insider as most of his (except Le Pen) opponents. As for his vast experience, it’s looking decidedly half-vast: his efforts included, France’s economic growth has been pathetic for many years and continues to be so. Don’t bet on France’s string of 40+ consecutive giant annual fiscal deficits ending anytime soon.

  8. When it comes to France, it’s hard to beat old rocker Ted Nugent’s reply to a
silly question from British journalist Robert Chalmers about hunting:
Chalmers: “What do these deer think when they see you coming?” Here comes the
nice guy who puts out our dinner? Or, there’s the man that shot my brother?”
Nugent: “I don’t think they’re capable of either of those thoughts, you Limey
asshole. They’re only interested in three things: the best place to eat,
having sex and how quickly they can run away. Much like the French.”

  9. No experience outside of government, which is true for most politicians and should be seen as a real problem, especially as governments increasingly think they can run businesses, using our taxes.

  10. Scott must have been being facetious, based on info in your fawning account of Macron’s Resume. It appears he has no real world experience, and all he has done is work for the Gov.

  11. Macron has several years of experience in the French Socialist Party government and indeed was a minister in said government. Trump had absolutely zero political experience and he’s doing great while France is doomed.

  12. What can I say about the French?
Somehow, for some unfathomable reason, …Americans admire them.
(yet Americans have contempt for the British, and Canadians are beneath their contempt)

  13. France today reminds me of Marshall Petain’s government at Vichy and they soon will be dancing to the Islamofascist tune.

  14. All positions for the well-coddled. He didn’t actually have to do anything. He was Hollande’s and the establishment candidate. France is very much an elitist “L’etat c’est nous”.

  15. Somehow, for some unfathomable reason, …Americans admire them. (yet Americans have contempt for the British, and Canadians are beneath their contempt)
Wait, what? That seems exactly backwards from my 63 years of American experience. But then I don’t rub elbows with progressives as a rule.
But perhaps I missed an irony HTML tag in your comment?
