Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Must have been an update to that website story, it now says no charges. Common sense prevailed.
“…it now says no charges”
Had to be a Muslim, or some sort of “protected class”.
To be fair, Airsoft air guns look realistic, and can in fact do harm. Common sense says don’t walk around a university campus with what looks like a weapon.
“Common sense says don’t walk around a university campus with what looks like a weapon.”
That’s racist.
It might have been simply a test run in another “no gun zone”, any good Liberal knows your a racist for not allowing certain “protected classes” to practice their culture.
Remember?

Don’t bring an Airsoft gun (or a knife) to a (REAL) gunfight. Youze mights git kilt by the POleece or criminal carrying an unlicensed firearm.
Best to play airsoft in your own backyard … or indoor Airsoft arena. However, there is no need to prosecute STUPIDITY … REALITY will eventually take care of STUPID people.
Maybe he should just stick to eating slices of bread into the shape of a gun … I don’t think anyone would prosecute for THAT “crime” either … and it is a tasty way to play pretend gunfights with your fellow collegians.
link doesn’t “fit” with the headline.
Besides, can anyone here tell the difference at 50 or 100 yards?

You just noticed?
Jamie MacMaster >
“Besides, can anyone here tell the difference at 50 or 100 yards?”
Most couldn’t….. and?
I thought I saw a guy carrying a pressure cooker (like the Muslim Boston Bombers used) in public the other day but refrained from calling the RCMP, am I bad?
What sort of fool carries a replica firearm openly on a university campus. That’s just looking for trouble, and for what possible reason?
John Galt >
“That’s just looking for trouble, and for what possible reason?”
RCMP seemed to think everything was just fine and let him go. That’s what doesn’t pass the smell test here.
“A Kitchener father is upset that police arrested him at his children’s’ school Wednesday, hauled him down to the station and strip-searched him, all because his four-year-old daughter drew a picture of a gun at school.”
http://www.therecord.com/news-story/2598150-man-shocked-by-arrest-after-daughter-draws-picture-of-gun-at-school/
Could post plenty of similar stories, but they get caught in the filter………..
Lesson learned. Next time he will wear his taqiyah (muslim prayer hat) and no cop will ever ask him why he is carrying a gun.
At least the airsoft guns pictured at Cabela’s have an orange muzzle tip,so at close range a cop could tell,if he was calm and highly experienced in facing armed criminals, but I wouldn’t give a plug nickel for the life of anyone dumb enough to be carrying one where a cop would have to respond. Especially some of the newby cops.
I was looking at some the other day at Princess Auto, all black, look very real, even close up. Wtf is wrong with manufacturers producing toys they know damned well could end up with the holder of said toy dead as the proverbial doornail when a cop doesn’t get the proper response to “drop it and get down”!!!
I remember when you could take rifles to school on public transportation on Fridays to shoot at the high school range after school.
Now they’d call in a SWAT team and start blasting away at kids.
Say goodnight!
A Kitchener father is upset that police arrested him at his children’s’ school Wednesday
There’s a great deal more to that story that the media buried. It’s why I stopped supporting Rebel Media; they shamelessly ignored important details because those details undermined their narrative.
Wow.
So you think the proper course for a cop on seeing an armed person is to yell “Drop it and get down”, and then shoot if they fail to comply?
WTF is wrong with you?
“There’s a great deal more to that story that the media buried. It’s why I stopped supporting Rebel Media; they shamelessly ignored important details because those details undermined their narrative.”
Go on, unless you think the arrest is legit, in which case you are part of the problem.
Replica firearms are prohibited devices in Canada.
To be prohibited as a replica firearm, a device must closely resemble an existing make and model of firearm. If it is an antique firearm, as defined by the Criminal Code and corresponding regulations, it is not prohibited.
Airsoft guns are devices that have a low muzzle velocity and muzzle energy, and usually discharge projectiles made out of a substance such as plastic or wax rather than metal. An airsoft gun, firing a .20g 6mm plastic pellet, with a muzzle velocity below 111.6 m/s (366 fps), and resembling with near precision an existing make and model of a firearm, other than an antique firearm, is a replica firearm and therefore a prohibited device.

I don’t give a rat, a zz.,
Yeah, so ?
So, what do you think is the proper course of action for a cop, on seeing a person brandishing what appears to be a firearm ?
Besides, can anyone here tell the difference at 50 or 100 yards?
Yes, it’s pretty easy with the clear plastic and orange caps.
So, what do you think is the proper course of action for a cop, on seeing a person brandishing what appears to be a firearm ?
If it’s actually a toy, the response should be “Have a nice day, son.”
I like stories like this. They flush out the fools.
Yes, it’s pretty easy with the clear plastic and orange caps.
Except for the clear polymer lower receivers you can get for a real rifle, or the gang bangers painting orange ends on real weapons.
“Brandishing”
LOL, nice use of hyperbole.
When a cop sees a man walking around carrying a rifle, he should do nothing, as its not illegal.
“When a cop sees a man walking around carrying a rifle, he should do nothing, as its not illegal.”
Maybe if it was 1965. In those days, more than not had a fully stocked gun rack in the back window of their pickup. Just in case there was some coyoteing that needed to be done on the way home.
Today, if someone is walking around in an urban environment openly displaying a firearm of any type, they will just have to tend to the consequences. And that may very well involve being shot by a cop.
Some things may not be illegal but the exercise of the activity may not be very smart.
So nice to see all the gun-control freaks coming out of the closet.
Folk who think that carrying a rifle is grounds for summary execution, because its 2017.
WTF is wrong with you people?
YeahWell… >
“Folk who think that carrying a rifle is grounds for summary execution, because its 2017.”
Yea I dunno either, first they tell us that Opening Borders to the worlds terrorists is “enriching”, then a few years later we need to disarm ourselves because we’re full of terrorists.
It’s flabbergasting that so many self professed “conservatives” drank the Kool-Aid and said “oh well things change”. What a sad whipped and forgetful society Canada has become, ripe for the taking.
We are so fuuked. Malala, the brain-damaged little girl, shot in the head by Muslims, is the poster girl for tolerance of Muslims. If this crap keeps up…
“Wake up, sheeple” seems a bit prosaic, but keerist!
When it was covered here I pulled the details from the original reports that were scrubbed afterwards from Rebel Media’s coverage; search the SDA archives for more information.
Very brief summary: Dad has a criminal record for assault and assault with a weapon. That disqualifies him from owning a gun. Daughter drew a picture of Dad shooting a handgun in class, and when asked what it was a picture of, she said “that’s my Daddy’s gun – he uses it to shoot monsters and bad guys.” Dad appears to have cleaned up his act and applied to be a guidance counselor at the school, but was rejected at the last minute (reading between the lines, he failed the criminal record check and everybody at the school found out).
Most Canadians think their legal rights around arrest and false imprisonment are the same as the US. They aren’t. It was an absolutely “legit” arrest, in that a report from a child in the house that a convicted criminal prohibited from owning a firearm has a firearm that he uses to shoot bad guys is more than enough grounds for an arrest and a search.
The only part of the whole story that doesn’t pass the “legit” test is that the little girl’s teacher should not have known that Dad had a criminal record, as that’s private information. But given that, the police did exactly what they should have done under the law.
You can, as I do, argue that the grounds for arrests and searches should be stricter. And the police could have handled the situation with more diplomacy. But the narrative you were fed (by Rebel Media, among others) doesn’t match reality.
OK.
I guess that when they pass a law saying no more than 2 people can gather in public, that that’s legit too, especially if a 4-year old girl says it happened.
A 4 year old girls picture drawn at school should never be considered grounds for arrest, and if you think it should be, then you are part of the problem, even if she drew a picture of her dad killing a ni&&er, and said “That’s my dad, killing a ni&&er.”
Daniel Ream >
I’m not going to belabor points much longer on an old thread, but….
The “legit” Progressiveness of SWAT style arresting parents based on Progressive Party teachers analyzing a firearm drawing made by a 4 year old doesn’t sit right with me. Like the SS.
Of course that was one example, Google “child suspended for drawing a firearm”, and check the hits, the US is just as guilty.
I wonder when the RCMP will arrest Muslim parents when their child draws a truck? Especially if dad traveled to Germany or France recently, maybe had a traffic violation along the way.
If you guys want to ignore the specific details because they disturb your narrative, that’s your call. But the incontrovertible fact is that the father was not “arrested because his daughter drew a picture of a gun”. He was arrested because he was a convicted felon with a record for violent assault, and there was a report by the school that his daughter had indicated he possessed and was using a firearm.
Drug dealers, child pornographers, and domestics are arrested all the time on far, far less probable cause and none of you complain; when violent criminals are incarcerated this board rings with calls for prison justice, up to and including violent rape. Try being a little intellectually consistent.
Daniel Ream >
“there was a report by the school that his daughter had indicated he possessed and was using a firearm.”
So you keep saying. Why not share your proof of this incident as you claim it was and move on?
I was using this particular incident as a point to the topic at hand with the information available as reported. As I said there are plenty of other examples to draw from in keeping to my original point. If you have proof that it’s invalid post something that is valid instead of sputtering accusations,
A 4-year old cannot say anything that is grounds for arrest.”My daddy has a gun”, “My daddy has a nuke”, etc.
You are advocating a Big Brother society of the worst stripe.
I wonder how all you snowflakes survived when you could by squirt-guns shaped like Lugers.
Keeerist, but if this is what conservatism has come to in Canada, we are so done.
YeahWell >
Yea, again people comfortably equating “gun owners” in the same class as “child pornographers & drug dealers”.
Wow eh?
Tell that to Cpl Nathan Cirillo…
Nice one.
Too bad he didn’t have a loaded rifle, eh?
You retards trotting out talking points to justify BS laws are sickening.
In Vermont, you can carry a gun, no permit needed. All you freaks are essentially saying that Vermonters are responsible, and Canadians are not.
