Green pigeons coming home to roost.
I know the Ontario election is a year away and any recovery from the Liberal policies will take decades, and the Ontario PC party might as well be called the Ontario Liberal party….
Yeah, you’re right, Ontario is screwed, but at least the Liberals won’t be in charge.

LOSING ! LOSING !
Perhaps Canada can stop the slide into Venezuelandom
LOSING ! LOSING !
–
Only two things they need to do in order to Wynne.
Raise taxes on the rich, and give away more free stuff.
“When asked which of the current party leaders would make the best premier, the most popular choice was “none” at 30%. PC Leader Patrick Brown was at 23%, NDP Leader Andrea Horwath at 22% and Wynne at 9%.”
Patrick Brown is the Invisible Man, and Andrea Horwath is a crazed lunatic Communist. The Ontario PCs could easily lose this election to a pack of commies, just like they did back when Boob Rae tripled the provincial debt in one year.
One of the things Ontario has never recovered from is Boob Rae. The Ontario NDP made such a mess in Queens Park, they essentially drove businesses out of Ontario for good. The Liberals continued that process with Ontario Hydro, now you can’t even keep a rural grocery store open. But the NDP began the depopulation of Ontario.
Nowadays, the -only- option you have to make real money is to ladder-up the home you live in. They bite you hard with property tax and land transfer tax, but the real estate market is the only place where you can keep your profits safe. Hence $1.4 million for a two story brick house in Toronto, three bedrooms one bathroom, single car garage. Original 1950s kitchen and bathroom, original 100 amp electrical service. Literally Grandma’s house. One million, four hundred thousand, ASKING price. Then there’s a bidding war. Who can afford that? Someone who is selling a $1.2 million house. Nobody else.
What will happen when the market correction comes? The final ruination of the Middle Class in Canada, that’s what. Then there will be only two classes. The rich and politically connected, and the poor.
Funny thing is, electricity prices were already through the roof prior to the last Ontario election in June 2014, but 67.24 percent of the electorate still cast ballots for the creators and supporters of the Green Energy Act: Liberals, NDP, and Greens.
Stupid bastards.
“…the Ontario PC party might as well be called the Ontario Liberal party….”
Exactly Lance, and Jamie sums up the electorate with “stupid bastards”.
Why do people make such idiotic choices. Brown is as big a looser as Wynne and Horwath.
And, to think that CPC might just elect as big a looser as leader as Brown is. The interim leader, Rona, is nothing but a PC PC (political correct progressive conservative). Pervert males in the same washrooms as my granddaughters? No problem. Twenty-eight bathrooms, no problem.
Re. the federal CPC leadership, lest we forget how bad things can be: Robert L. Stanfield.
Lest we forget 2014, Tim Freaking Hudak.
That’s why Brown is the Invisible Man. He’s timid because he knows the media will plaster him with doodoo the moment he sticks his head up. That’s why the Ontario PCs are Liberal Lite. They don’t have any particular beliefs, they just want to run the show and get better access to the trough for their supporters.
If the PCs win an election here, things will not get better. They will continue to get worse. But they will get worse more slowly. That’s what I’m voting for. An easier let down.
At some point this -will- all come unstuck. One need only look at Mexico to know that things can most definitely get out of hand completely, and in a hurry.
The only survivable thing I see coming along to change this situation is a large conventional land war in Europe and/or Korea. One where Canadian manpower gets sucked into the maelstrom. That’s the size of catastrophe it would take to move things around, the Elite Media’s very own children getting called up and shipped off to die in the dirt of some European crap hole.
Which we all know isn’t going to happen, because there will never be another conventional land war in Europe or Asia. It’ll be Slim Pickens riding ‘er down with his lasso and cowboy hat.
That’s it exactly. Party supporters implored Hudak to run his campaign on the stark economic realities of energy prices, all related to the Liberal Green Energy Act. The numbers were well known 3 years ago and were predicted a decade ago. The fiasco of industrial wind development on prime crop land was evident years earlier.
Still, renewable energy disaster is the sin that dare not speak its name, at least for Ont PC leaders. The current leader still cannot condemn the obvious and indeed is on board with Lib/NDP
factions: Climate change is man-made and Ont tax payers must “do something”. Even as the province is bankrupted by carbon taxes and The US moves in the complete opposite direction, PC policy calls for more of the same. Ont permanently screwed.
Hahahaha
This poll is crap.
Wynne will promise legal weed and more free stuff. Fake intellectuals like Andrew Coyne will tell us how bad the PC’s are, the rent seekers, who now control elections, will vote for their entitlements.
The PC’s are not going to win until they can prove a full adscam level crime by the Liberals.
“don’t worry fantom, Brown is a good kristian , just like tory and whodat, and god will save us.”
You really are amazingly ridiculous sometimes, you know that?
If they were “good Christians” we wouldn’t be having this discussion. They’re cowards, liars, cheats and thieves who attend Church occasionally for show.
I never attend church at all. That way I don’t have to rub shoulders with fake-faced Sunday Christians. I also make sure never to attend anything where I might meet noisy Sunday Atheists like yourself.
I find this avoiding behavior helps keep me out of jail.

Agreed. Just like last time. Ontario bleeds and swears off the Wynnie group and then on election day vote for the goodies. Cynical and criminal behavior as they pass on the bills for their spending to their children.
Ontario federal PC’s have taken the CPC back from Reformers. It is all about how much smarter we are than those ridiculous Liebels. IMHO 95% are all Liebels.
Having volunteered in all the past campaigns, federal and provincial, it does not matter who leads the Conservatives. Both Hudak and Brown are good, decent people who would have helped Ontario to regain its lost status as the economic engine of Canada. The 800lb gorilla in the room is the public employees, all 1.3 million of them. When you include their families, friends, contractors working on government jobs, welfare recipients and new immigrants it is a huge voting block supported by the public unions like the Teachers.
80% of Toronto police make over $100k, teachers like my buddy are well into this bracket. Refer to the Sunshine List out today to make yourself really sick.
The hundreds of people I talked to in our riding of Don Valley West, Wynne’s territory, do not give a damn about debts or energy costs. This is repeated in all the Liberal stronghold ridings in our major cities. The conservative voters in the rural areas have little chance to drive these crooks out. Unless there is a major economic fear, as there should be now, the Liberals will win again.
“Having volunteered in all the past campaigns, federal and provincial, it does not matter who leads the Conservatives.”
I met Tim Hudak one time. He didn’t seem like a bad person, per se, as much as one can tell from a handshake. But he did seem like a bit of a tool. Not the kind of guy I’d expect to show up for a dinner party just because he said he would. Not who I’m going to lend my ladder to.
That’s an unfair assessment based on a first impression, but to date I haven’t seen him do anything that makes me think I was wrong.
The thing that strikes me about the OPC is the same thing that strikes me about churches as I mention above. Everybody’s saying one thing and doing another. They say they’re for lower taxes, and the next words out of their mouths are about increasing funding for some program they benefit from.
Ontario has become a place where your only sure way ahead is a government job. Your only path to even a comfortable lifestyle is real estate. The only way to get your kids ahead is buy them a house in Toronto and get their feet on the ladder, as they fight their way up the government ranks.
Private industry isn’t completely dead yet, but you’re screwed if you are trying to start out from scratch. You need Friends at Queens Park.
In the face of all that, I agree with Dave. It really doesn’t matter who runs the OPC or the CPC either. They either appeal to the public sector unions, or the Liberals win. There is no other way.
But still, Dave. Stanfield, Hudak, Brown… its a pattern.
I left Toronto in March 2002 to live for 12 years in Calgary and now 3 years in Regina. Back then, I told friends/family that there would only be the poor or the rich in Toronto, the government was chasing out the middle class. On my street,10 families left in 6 months. I am very happy to be living in the West again.
To you and so many commenters on SDA:
loose = free, open, not tight
lose = not win
loser = not a winner
loss = a reduction
And I might as well throw in:
too = overly, also
to =
adverb
moving toward the wanted position, or coming into awareness.
a.An example of to is to stay on a job longer than anyone else; to rise to seniority.
b.An example of to is waking up after passing out; to come to.
preposition
1.To is defined as the direction to go, towards, or to a specific position, result or degree.
a.An example of to is how you’d say you were going somewhere; going to the store.
b.An example of to is a gift that’s intended for a specific person; give to Mom.
c.An example of to is describing how a person walked into a room and sat in a chair; went in to the room and sat down
Repeated misapplications are, to me, like nails on a chalkboard, or a sign of intellectual laziness. This is grade school stuff people!
The Ontario Liberals will not lose. I am convinced of that.
Unless one is willing to abolish unions and nuke Toronto, Ontario is stuck with the Liberal menace.
The only solution to this is if the government goes into receivership. With no money to slush out the government and whoever leads it will be forced to get religion on the provinces finances.
The caveat is that if the bankruptcy occurs under the PC’s the liberals and their peanut gallery will abscond from any responsibility for the mess.
Right now Wynne and her finance minister are playing a shell game buying time to make it to the next election.
Ouch ! No neccessita ! You know … I, for one, mostly use my i-pad with its auto-correct function to type out my responses here. If I don’t carefully proofread my typed responses … the auto-correct often chooses words … inappropriately. My experience here is that 99% of the commenters are quite adequately literate. Occasional mistakes do not imply ignorance.
Even then I wonder. Look at these stats from the linked article: “When asked which of the current party leaders would make the best premier, the most popular choice was “none” at 30%.
PC Leader Patrick Brown was at 23%, NDP Leader Andrea Horwath at 22% and Wynne at 9%.”
If the Ontario Liberals have any sense of self-preservation, they’ll be pressuring Wynne to step down ASAP (to a cushy sinecure) and present a new leader to the public (Hey, is Justin’s cardboard cut-out still available?). Then comes the progressive gravy train.
Will Ontario fall for it? You know that old saying: “Fool me thrice shame on you, fool me … um, what’s the name of that newly appointed Premier, again?”
Kevin O’Leary would be a good choice for Premier of Ontario, much better than CPC leader.
What did the polls look like a year before the last Ontario election? I don’t seem to remember the liberals being this far behind if at all. I doubt they could recover from this.
Agreed- Once the PS Unions get wound up and mobilized, these modern day poll numbers are meaningless. One other thing to consider is that who wants to inherit this massive steaming pile? I’m beginning to think the Conservatives don’t want to win the next election. The Conservative apparatchik realize Brown is a mistake. They understand the the vitriol Harris got for trying to clean up the mess left by the Rae and Peterson years. I think Ontario has to fully crater, and the Libs whether led by Wynne or some other, must be made to own it all.

“But he did seem like a bit of a tool.”
hudak’s wife, (former senior advisor to premier mike harris) deb hutton was the political brains of that puppet show.
i bought a motorcycle off an ex-mp who knew hudak. he told me that every day, ms hutton would wind timmy up and send him out the door… the only times he got into real trouble was when he ran out of things hutton told him to say and tried being spontaneous.
*
Yeah, if I was an Ontario PC party member, I would be voting liberal to ensure they own the mess. I would be meeting with all other parties and say “let the liberals win by acclamation in every riding”.
Ontario is pretty much at the point where you just stop paying your bills, assume another identity, and get the hell out. Disappear before the crater is too deep to crawl out of.
Ontario will collapse even if – by some miracle – a huge meteorite were to crash into unions attending the largest Liberal conference the province has ever seen. The damage is far too deep that someone like Ra’s al Ghul makes sense. The Tories’ winning an election would be far too little and too late.
If anyone should own it, it’s Ontario Liberal voters.
Rob83, THANK YOU!
You, learned person, are most welcome!
Does the term “schoolmarm” have any meaning to you?
No, I’m a senior citizen, male and I come to SDA to be enlightened by the many astute commenters. and most are, indeed. Sadly, some few wallow in ignorance and will consciously and petulantly continue to demonstrate such. It’s like placing a handicapped parking sign in your cars front window…its often a point of pride, often unnecessary and the only thing that makes you special.
I agree that Tim Hudak was the best Ontario could hope for and I voted for him each time. But the union workers are told to vote Liberal and they do. They have to keep their jobs. At this point, I will probably vote Liberal next election. Let them own it. There will be too much hurt from a PCP government, not sure about an NDP government. My husband and I moved 5 years ago. We still own our house in Ontario and go back for our mandated 6 months each year. It gets a little harder each year to go from a free country to a gulag (Ontario). I agree with the commenter that Canada is too cold to be a banana republic. I think the best thing I could do would be to sell the house in Canada but what to do with that issue paper that is Canadian money?
Thanks for the reply. I bet you did not know that we retired Canadians can leave the country permanently and sell our homes, AND still have our CPP and OAS paid to us in the country we move to. Friends of mine have done that. It works really well as there are many warm countries that would be happy to take in Canadians with pensions, give them citizenship and free medical care. One person I know kept his house but does not return to Canada for the 6 months and the other does not return for 6 months nor has she kept a home in Canada but they both receive CPP and OAS and use OHIP. My husband and I are the only idiots keeping a house in Ontario and returning for 6 months of the year. Because we have kept our home and have to heat it all winter, we are paying the federal and provincial governments tax money when we are not there. About Ontario, it does not matter who is elected. Ontario cannot recover.
(polite curtsy)
Im still attempting to recruit some volunteers to wallpaper the local lieberal riding with pamphlets pleading with the constituents to kick their arses to the curb.
so far no takers.
apathy is the FIRST voter.
“Then there will be only two classes. The rich and politically connected, and the poor.”
precisely. I continue to predict that there will come a time when 98% of all wealth, assets and property will be OWNED outright by some 0.01% of the population. the only exception will be those areas of the world where the ‘owner’ is the state. ie socialist.
this is merely another mechanism driving the economy in that direction.
come on, does *anyone* GAIN in times of financial crisis? the super rich that can weather it!!! it’s a buying opportunity taking advantage of those who time and time again allow themselves to get over-leveraged, the margin calls, the sudden violent scary oscillations in stock price etc etc. all promoted by the short term focus gang. plus enormous interest rates in a time of low, low prime and a glut of ‘payday loan’ operators. it’s all part of the bigger picture.
and the world economy is a gigantic Ponzi scheme so yes, there are those who do get very rich by it. very very rich.
I am extremely proud of myself that I have managed to get my husband and I into a situation where we can live comfortably year round. My obligation is to us, not to a government or a country or even to people like yourself. You, make sure you stay in Canada, where you can get sick each winter, worry about the cost of heating, worry about icy roads and if you will make it home again. I do not want to live like that so I do not. Please do not leave the country EVER.
