Three brothers who managed office information technology for members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and other lawmakers were abruptly relieved of their duties on suspicion that they accessed congressional computers without permission.
Brothers Abid, Imran, and Jamal Awan were barred from computer networks at the House of Representatives Thursday, The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group has learned.
Three members of the intelligence panel and five members of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs were among the dozens of members who employed the suspects on a shared basis. The two committees deal with many of the nation’s most sensitive issues and documents, including those related to the war on terrorism.
And their landlord (handler?) is a House IT employee. It gets better and better. A 20 year old Arab kid is paid $160K as an IT specialist. It is unlikely (but possible) that a 20 year old even had a degree.

How can a state develop an immigration policy that basically says your welcome here as a Muslim as long as you don’t actually practice what you are obliged to by your own scriptures and what has happened in the nation you came from and virtually anywhere you achieve demographic significance. That, and dealing with taqqiya, would be quite the questionnaire at the immigration (vetting) interview.

I’ve often had my misgivings about why universities insist on hiring foreign nationals as faculty. Nowadays, much of the research in engineering and science is funded by corporations and, in some cases, there are restrictions on who has access to the information and facilities. Still, that hasn’t prevented those same foreigners from working on those projects.
What a perfect way to commit industrial espionage without actually breaking into the companies in question, eh?

It would be useful to know what is meant by “congressional computers” here.
Are these just Internet-linked, unclassified government computers used with MS Office to communicate within Congress and out to constituents and the like? In that case, there should be no classified material on them (unless air-gapped informally – and quite illegally – “Clinton-style” for personal convenience). The three brothers would have needed some sort of reliability screening short of a formal security clearance.
But if these are computers on a classified government intranet, that’s another matter again: the Brothers Awan would have needed US security clearances to work on such a system.

There’s something very bizarre about this. Including about how much these guys were being paid. Yes, Washington is expensive, but the salaries they were being paid are surely at least twice, and maybe a fair bit more than, what those level jobs should normally pay, it seems to me.
