As is typical, nearly every level of government have no understanding of the commitment or sacrifice necessary to run a small business. Because people have no choice but to pay when they increase charges they assume business runs on the same premise. They also assume that every business is bountifully profitable. The truth is most small businesses run on the hope that they will succeed and be profitable. They are destroying that hope.

The problem is, and I have been dealing with related issues for decades as a white male (now retired) forester fighting greens, that the urban masses could care less about job losses that don’t affect them. Their solution is to “give those unenlightened slobs” some money for ‘retraining’ because they have been conditioned into believing the validity of the underlying (CAGW) narrative. The reality is that the leviathan state is so involved in everything that the voting masses, generally ignorant on issues not directly related to their own experiences, empower politicians (of all parties), at least as ignorant, out to “save” the planet, or to buy votes to further feed and grow the monster.
These stories are exactly what the carbon dioxide levy is designed to do. It is designed to change the behaviour of people through financial hardship and economic pain. The NDP cares not one iota if these people lose their businesses or have to reduce their quality of life in order to accommodate the levy, the NDP only cares about virtue signaling their moral superiority over the dirty minions.
Hopefully the Trump administration will challenge this fraud and restore sanity to the climate change euphoria permeating the entire globe.

And speaking of retraining; several years back an Albertan relative, 966 operator at a pulp mill, fractured his spine in a fall at work,and couldn’t continue in his 25 year job.
WCB sent him to retraining as an RV repairman. He discovered on graduation that the work is seasonal, and that various other government agencies also had the same brainwave as WCB and had retrained dozens of RV repairmen, thus flooding the market. He eventually found work with his Class one /air driver’s licence.
Here in super,natural B.C.,about the same era, ther were lots of layoffs in various industries due to the machinations of the NDP government,and many long time employees were laid off and had to be retrained.
A friend was among that group. First thing De Gum’mint did was offer her retraining as an RV repair-woman,which she gratefully accepted,went through the course,and of course, found the same as my relative in Alberta; flooded market,few jobs,seasonal work at best, low pay.

Carbon dioxide is essential to life on this planet. Plant life uses the carbon dioxide in its cycle, and generates oxygen. Animal life uses oxygen and generates carbon dioxide. There cannot be an excess of carbon dioxide on the planet because life forms regulate the oxygen / carbon dioxide balance. A tax on carbon dioxide is a penalty for living and working and staying alive.

My entire life was spent without once working for government. The notley government does not have one member who can make that statement. They are all from government/union backgrounds.
