  3. This is an example of the cultural vandalism that comes from progressive nihilism. If the eco-feminist left wants to write sterile and neutered lyrics for songs they should write their own music to go with it. Leave the Standards alone.
    As to Rap, white progressives pander to the black ghetto culture (ghetto poetry to a beat) to keep them on the reserve and voting Democrat. They see them as their political pets so the crude behavior is excused as quaint.

  5. It may be the best duet ever. Great versions exit everywhere. Ella and Louis Jordan, Ray Charles/Betty Carter – the list goes on.
    It’s a 40’s tune. Seduction, boy/girl, it’s cooold outside – all the right elements. Sure it doesn’t measure up to todays high standards of the hip hop culture and rap.
    Nobody got raped. No ho’s here. No gun fight – just a guy and a gal and yeah she might not yet be ‘in the mood’ but he’s working on her and she does give the hint of ‘maybe just a little bit more’.
    As for the leftoid assertion that maybe he dropped a date rape drug into her drink….C’mon folks it’s the 40’s.
    I look forward to hearing this tune every year at Christmas.

  15. The really funny thing about this song is that it was wrote and first performed by a married couple. No rape intended, just a little playful “cat and mouse” Also, in the 40s the expression “what was in that drink” was often used after you did something rather stupid.

  18. I tracked down her original comments. As someone who has had to write or give recommendations as well as read/hear recommendations (albeit not for scientific positions), I have to say that EXCEPT for the gendered part, there is merit to her observations. For example, sometimes saying that a person is “hard working” or a “team player” might simply be evading (deliberately) the truth that they are incompetent….or not. (Which touches another topic, that being that you can be sued for writing negative things…sigh.) Yes, there really are coded words in recommendations.
    Why she had to make this a gender topic and not simply about the best ways to write recommendations I don’t understand.
