  1. I meant to start off that last post with “Just when you think the CBC can’t sink any lower as a pay-for-play advertising arm of the Liberal party they descend into this!” Problem was this was too good a lead-in to only have one entry.

  2. I might become well-lit during the holidays, but it won’t be due to one of those candles.

  3. It’s worse than that. Calgary’s unemployment rate inched higher into the double digits last month with 10.3 per cent of the workforce out of a job, according to Statistics Canada’s latest labour survey.
It’s the second month Calgary’s unemployment rate has hovered above the 10 per cent mark after reaching 10.2 per cent in October, the highest it’s been since November 1993, which was an economic trough for the entire country.

  4. Yes and the ndp lead the polls in Calgary.
The mayor of Calgary who is wildly popular is a profligate spender. He will likely sail to victory for a 3rd term.
    See any pattern here?

  5. Tax Subsidized Charities Putting Canadians Out of Work
    https://youtu.be/iOYMA3SD3WM
Recently David Suzuki Foundation and other environmental groups like Equiterre have made false and misleading claims that oil and gas operations are subsidized for billions by taxpayers. The opposite is true. Environmental charities are subsidized by taxpayers and they are blocking taxpaying jobs and industries

  6. Tacky way for Liberals to pull in more cash? They should sell around the globe, he’s made his mark for selfies, I’m sure they’d like to know how he smells. He stinks as PM, a nice musk with an overtone of Pot might clear the air.

  7. Deep Personal Regrets:
A regretful Geir Lundestad, onetime secretary of the Nobel Peace Prize committee, told the Associated Press that he hoped the award would have strengthen present Obama. But it didn’t, according to the group, despite the White House’s belief that the present-president “lived up to the standard that he has set for himself” regarding the prize.
Instead of being an encouraging sign, the award was met with palpable indignation, particularly among conservatives who believed present Obama should have ‘done something’ rather than ‘spoken something’ to receive the lofty prize.
Arafat is giggling in his grave.

  8. too bad the number is bogus. with 94 million officially not in the workforce the real rate is about 24%

  9. The latest gaffe….in the opinion of the elites….by president elect Trump, is that he broke “a decades long tradition” ….since Carter was president…of not recognizing Taiwan as an independent nation because he Trump took a congratulatory phone call from the Taiwanese president.
The media still don’t get it.
Apparently they don’t understand that foreign policy isn’t established by foreign governments. …especially communist dictatorships.

  10. And about 20 million others working part time with unaffordable health care.
Trump won 3084 American rural counties.
Hillary 54. …………………….Most of those include big cities with food stamps and welfare.
The freaking democrats still wonder why they lost. ha.

  11. Thank God our Founding Fathers, esp. ‘Hamilton’ set up the electoral college,
if not, the big city state populations would determine the election of every president.
New York, California, and Florida would tell us who won.
    Hillary won the popular vote.

  12. Cute. Justin’s menu may indeed have the appearance of ‘hot bubbling chocolate’ but as it’s forced down our throats it somehow doesn’t taste like chocolate.

  13. …compare and contrast with 95+ MILLION American NOT in the
work force…4.6% is a lot of butterflies and unicorns!

  14. Personally, I’d rather have any of the Bloom County characters as prime minister than Shiny Man Bun. On the other hand, it occurred to me that he might be a grown-up version of Binkley, complete with a purple Snorklewacker hiding in an anxiety closet.

  15. The US unemployment rate is a completely useless and bogus number. It should be presented as “unemployment rate of those who have not given up trying to find a job”. A much more relevant number is the “Labor participation rate”. There are tens of millions of people who had a job 8 years ago – lost it and have not worked since. If they were included in the ‘unemployment’ rate – the true figure would be well over 10%.

  16. “since Carter was president…of not recognizing Taiwan as an independent nation”
    Good for Trump.
Taiwan will never rejoin China, at least not willingly, and the sooner China accepts that fact, the sooner the world can move on.
Next, Trump should pressure China to do stop supporting North Korea, which would immediately collapse without China’s tacit cooperation.

  17. Taiwan will never rejoin China, at least not willingly, and the sooner China accepts that fact, the sooner the world can move on.
China believes that Taiwan is a renegade province and, thereby, claims it as its territory. If there was any validity to this, it would have been after the end of the revolution. Since then, however, the descendants of the Kuomintang members who fled there with Chiang Kai-shek came to see themselves as Taiwanese, loyal to Taipei and not Beijing.

  19. Re: The NDP are leading in the polls in *Calgary.
Not for long if the PCs and the Wildrose get their act together and form one party!!
Of course the NDP will capitalize on the infighting. They did it here in Sasktchewan for decades. Even now the PCs are trying to make a comeback.
And *Calgary does make a huge difference!!

  20. …Blacks are about 16% of population of US, but they appear
in 50% of TV advertisements… Is that RAAAAACISM?

  21. I’m not surprised at the polling results for Edmonton. We have all those civil servants plus that factory of leftism, the University of Alberta.

  22. Philip is one of the worst Indian racists around.
He was front and centre when the Penticton Band was shooting at cars in the 90s, blocking access to Apex mountain.
His zealous hatred will not be resolved until every last Whitey has been shipped back to where we came from. Until then, he suffers from maximum DERANGEMENT

  24. “Unemployment numbers are bogus, blah, blah, blah”
That ‘head-in-the-sand’ dismissive attitude fails to grasp the fact that regardless of the metric, as long as the methodology remains the same the changes are valid indicators.
Are more people working at productive jobs or are more people on welfare.
Trump’s election appears to be increasing investment and employment, and Trudeau’s regime isn’t.
Stefan Molyneux’s presentation cited above explains why.

  25. The best thing for the government to do is walk away and leave them to their fate. Don’t actually refuse to help, just be too busy. The problem will solve itself.

    By Sebastian Vilar Rodrigez*
I walked down the street in Barcelona, and suddenly discovered a terrible truth – Europe died in Auschwitz.
We killed six million Jews and replaced them with 20 million Muslims. In Auschwitz we burned a culture, thought, creativity, and talent. We destroyed the chosen people, truly chosen, because they produced great and wonderful people who changed the world.”

  27. “Stupidity is a more dangerous enemy of the good than malice. One may protest against evil; it can be exposed and, if need be, prevented by use of force. Evil always carries within itself the germ of its own subversion in that it leaves behind in human beings at least a sense of unease. Against stupidity we are defenseless; reasons fall on deaf ears; facts that contradict one’s prejudgement simply need not be believed–in such moments the stupid person even becomes critical–and when facts are irrefutable they are just pushed aside as inconsequential, as incidental. In all this the stupid person, in contrast to the malicious one, is utterly self-satisfied and, being easily irritated, becomes dangerous by going on the attack.”

“A MILO event at North Dakota State University has been cancelled following threats from opponents of the North Dakota Access Pipeline who have previously been involved in violent protests.
The event which was scheduled for Friday, December 16th, was suddenly hit with a large security fee increase however unlike many other universities that used security fees as an attempt to censor MILO, the threat by Dakota Access Pipeline Protesters to disrupt the event posed a viable risk to those in attendance.
“Unfortunately the state of North Dakota has a issue with our pipeline” said Jamal Omar, a North Dakota University student and Vice Chair of the College Republicans who invited MILO to speak. “Many of the protesters (some of which have shot at officers) wanted to protest here and unfortunately we couldn’t manage to keep people safe.”
Omar also defended his college administration’s efforts to host MILO:…”

“By now you know that President Elect Trump took a call from the President of Taiwan and simultaneously lit on fire the underpants of the mainstream media and maybe the leadership of China too.
Apparently taking a phone call from the president of Taiwan is a major diplomatic change from the so-called “One China Policy” that imagines Taiwan as a rogue province of China, not its own country. Reports are saying this call was planned, not a mistake on the Trump team’s side.
Was this a mistake by Trump?”

“Green Party candidate Jill Stein abruptly dropped her petition for a recount of all votes cast in the U.S. presidential election in Pennsylvania after a judge ordered her campaign to post a $1 million bond, court documents showed on Saturday.
The bond was set by the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania a day after representatives of President-elect Donald Trump requested a $10 million bond, according to the papers.
The court gave the petitioners until 5 p.m. local time (2200 GMT) on Monday to post the bond, but said it could modify the amount if shown good cause. Instead, Stein’s campaign withdrew.”

  31. When I took my first programming course (WATFIV!) as an undergrad in 1974, the university had a 360. Due to the campus-wide demand placed on it, it ran like a coffee grinder and had long turnaround times for batch jobs.
That machine was put up on blocks, so to speak, about a year or so later. Its replacement was an Amdahl (which some wag dubbed the original IBM clone) and it was one hot machine. Batch job turnarounds were much less. I noted that I needed about 10% of the CPU time that the 360 did.

The WR is the old Social credit/Conservative vote. Rural route in other words. The PC’s have some traction in Calgary and the ndp win what’s left.
A 3 way split favors the ndp.
No merger – no government. Ndp wins.
