  1. I think he will be sued. And they will win. You cannot set traps for criminals. But it is almost as funny as watching the election night self destructions of TYK, MSNBC, CNN, ESPN, ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, NPR, HuffPo, Atlantic, Politico, 538, … Ok, there are just too many. Stopping now.

  2. The video will seal his fate as it can be argued that he exhibited malicious intent and wasn’t just tethering the bike to prevent theft.

  3. You can only sue if there are damages. Unless one these guys broke a leg, no problem. He probably has them filmed walking away.

  4. There doesn’t seem to be a law against GPS tracking. I would argue this is a low-tech, limited range GPS tracker. Guaranteed Positive Stop.

  5. Saw that video before – possibly on here. It must be over a year or even two and I’ve heard of no lawsuit. Who the heck would be dumb enough to sue?

  6. There’s way better videos on YouTube where some guys in California put automotive Air Bags inside bicycle seats and let the thieves ride off and the seats explode underneath them !!!

  7. Quality prank… It’s too bad they didn’t leave a jagged piece of steel attached to the handlebars to give their scrotum something to think about.
In the world capital for bike thefts, Regina, Sk, they’d be fighting over who gets to steal this bike first.

  8. How dare you people mock a poor homeless soul, destitute and in need of a bike!! If the owner of the velocipede had an ounce of sympathy for his or her fellow humans, he or she would have a taped a Spam sandwich and a Gatorade to the handlebar! Capitalists, all of you!!
The best I ever saw was a neighbour of mine who had gasoline stolen on a regular basis. So he filled a 45 gal drum with diesel, installed a pump on it, and stuck a ”Regular Gasoline” decal in the side of the barrel. The old 57 Chevrolet traveled all of about 300 yards before it calved.
