“It’s not clear what’s driving the increases nationally.”
I think it’s pretty clear.
Kids are not allowed to go outside.
Kids are never allowed to be on their own.
Kids are constantly hyper-stimulated with flickering electronic screens.
Kids are bombared with so-called education that counters the reality they can see with their own eyes.
No wonder they are nuts. The are cooped up, constantly watched over, addicted to constant electronic stimulation, and indoctrinated to fear everything around them and see fantasy in place of reality.
Those who have done this to us are in for a surprise when these kids finally snap.
Amazing stuff here. And yet Big Pharma still enjoys the ear of governments around the world. Just last week in Delhi their lobbyists were allowed a place in the committee meetings of the global anti-tobacco COP7 conference– telling delegates to vote in favour of a global ban of e-cigs (to save their market share of nicotine gums and patches).
No industry, even tobacco, lies and misrepresents science as much as Pharma does these days.
And now the use of mind numbing drugs will go up even more across Canada and the USA because of The Donald.
In addition, they’re not allowed to fail and they’re constantly being protected from things that might hurt them in the slightest (e. g., playgrounds).
I noticed that while I was teaching at a certain post-secondary institution. Everything had to be “positive”, even the expressions I used during my lectures. (I was once reprimanded by my department head for using the word “ghastly” when describing what appeared to be quite a convoluted equation.) I was frequently reminded that I was required to create a “safe” learning environment, though what was meant by “safe” was never described to me.
The result was that I was teaching children in adult bodies who constantly fought the requirement that they grow up.
Great list, but if I may add lack of discipline in the home and no discipline in the school.
I wonder if there’s a strong correlation between parents on mood altering drugs and those parents putting their kids on mood altering drugs. I’d suspect that parents who use such drugs would be more receptive to putting their kids on the same types of pharmaceuticals than parents who do not use prescriptions. It’s become their normal way of coping with difficult kids rather than non drug behaviour modification. This is similar to parents who rush to the doctor to get antibiotics for themselves and their kids every time they feel slightly ill.
I didn’t realize how many children are using OTC and prescription medication on a daily basis until the first time I stood in line to check our oldest kid into summer camp. The majority of parents, guessing 2/3, handed over a Baggie and written instructions to the camp administrators. There’s either a lot sicker kids since my generation or a lot more neurotic parents. I’m betting on the latter.
BTW, it’s not just e-cigs pharmaceutical companies are lobbying against. They’re also against pot because users are substituting pot for more expensive, harsher side effect prescription drugs. You’d think Canadian lawmakers and healthcare advocates would be pleased at the cost savings and harm reduction of ecigs and cheaper prescription costs due to pot use.
When I went to school kids weren’t drugged and didn’t act out. The got their asses whacked when they did or a peer gave them a tune up. Things are supposed to be so much better today.

One reason I quit my teaching job was because I got tired of dealing with student behaviours. If, as an undergrad 40 years ago, I’d acted the way some of them did, I’d have been given what was known as a dean’s vacation.
The worst part was that no matter what they did, they’d almost always get a free pass from their department heads. The only one who didn’t was my first boss, who had been a submariner during WW II. He didn’t put up with any nonsense.
Slowly but surely we are making our way to:
THX 1138
where you will be busted for DRUG EVASION
where children are created in petri dishes
where all humanity serves corporate interests
where people are “protected’ by robotic police
where all live underground..
a Potential future compliments of George Lucas
Seemed pretty far fetched back in the day…
Now.? I’m not so sure…
Putting the kid on mind-doping drugs is sooo much easier than competent parenting or teaching.
Does anyone know the percentage of boys vs. girls being pacified chemically? I highly suspect that boys represent 70 to 80% of the drugged. After all, normal boy behaviour (rambunctiousness, competitiveness etc.) is considered evil and subversive by the education elite, co-parent, Femi-stasi. Feminism, turning men into women one boy at a time!
Egads! Watch the antidepressants. Some have capabilities that permanently suppress recall.
I was a bad little bugger in grade one,and for my pains, got “the strap about three times a week in my first year in school.
Gradually, the idea penetrated my thick skull; obey the rules, you don’t get the strap. In grade two,I got the strap for stepping into the sand box, my only transgression that year. People I mention that to today are shocked and amazed we received corporal punishment for such minor transgressions.
Hell, serial killers are today treated more kindly than we were as grade school kids! Imagine any Court in Canada not releasing Paul Bernardo immediately if some po’ed Guard gave HIM “the strap”!
I’ve often fantasized about taking the School to the HRC all these years later, just for the hell of it, but don’t really want to see them fined into bankruptcy.
Although,I could use a new 4X4, Hm..
LickM … All excellent reasons … however … might I suggest that the #1 reason is: Absentee Parents. Parental abandonment – both physically, and emotionally. And this modern phenomenon spans all socio-economic classes. And add to that the huge number of broken families. Single parent families. Bitter divorced families. Bizzarre “families” of Transgenders and Furry’s …
Fight it and deny it all you want … but Children NEED intact, male+female, parents who devote themselves to their children. And in my recent experience … MEXICAN families, both poor and comfortable, are just about the ONLY ones modeling proper parental behavior.
Corporal punishment was the norm in schools when I was a kid too. Anyone who acted up was sent to sit on the bench outside the principal’s office. The offender would sit there for at least one class change so that everyone walking by could see their shame. The public humiliation was part of the punishment the stern lecture and strap was just the frosting on the cupcake.
Nice play on the opening scene from the movie “The Graduate”, Kate.

Most cases of “attention deficit disorder” could be fixed with a good smack on the behind.
Other points raised above are all good.
It would seem that in future, as the science fiction predicted, people will live with daily dose of feel good drugs.
This is what the totalitarians and dictators need.
If you don’t have work, don’t worry be happy, here is a pill to your happiness. Here is a stick of weed.
Don’t dare to smoke. Don’t dare to drink. Take yer pill and enjoy the dream.
“as the science fiction predicted, people will live with daily dose of feel good drugs.”
Yes. Aldous Huxley, author of Brave New World, wrote to George Orwell, author of Nineteen Eighty-Four, on 21 October 1949, congratulating Orwell on “how fine and how profoundly important the book is”.
In his letter to Orwell, he predicted:
-Within the next generation I believe that the world’s leaders will discover that infant conditioning and narco-hypnosis are more efficient, as instruments of government, than clubs and prisons, and that the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience.-
What neither of them understood then, and what few understand today, is that our governments want only a very few for servitude and all the rest of us to die because the elites no longer need us at all and we can be replaced by robots and the great masses of people are seen by the government elites as merely wasting and using up the resources of the planet earth.
Yepper; Oz
Both the movie and the book have already been done. I think Dennis Hooper was in it, and the only crime was being under medicated.
