  1. The Rhinoceros Party candidate almost beating the NDP is outstanding.
    … gives me hope.

  2. Considering how surreal, bizarre and inexplicable mainstream politics has become, the Rhinos really don’t have a platform to run on anymore.

  3. NDP at 1.1 percent for updated polling… I wonder if Notely’s NDP was a factor???
Conservatives at 69.4 percent and Liberals at 25.8 percent.
That European style 10% structural unemployment isn’t going over so well.
The Hurtin’ Albertans are rallying, slowly, but surely.

  4. Virtually the exact same Margin of victory as the last election for the CPC. Even a visit by the dauphin didn’t have an impact.

  5. Even with a “star” candidate and a visit from Trudeau, the Liberals are well on their way to another epic spanking. Now we can all sit back and wait for the predictable media spin whereby Mr. Sakamoto’s share of the vote will be held up as an endorsement of the sh*t show in Ottawa that the Liberals have created.

  6. CBC Radio tried to make it sound like their party (aka the Liberals) had a chance and even gave reasons why. They didn’t mention the carbon tax as being a reason funny enough. The result is good but they’ll say it was no surprise.
Meanwhile in California, yet another set of voters comes to their senses. Jacobs Engineering (50,000 – 70,000 global employees) votes with feet and moves to Texas…
Global engineering firm to relocate headquarters from California to Dallas
This relocation adds to Texas’ more than 50 Fortune 500 companies, said Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

  7. Yup. That riding’s filled with disloyal voters. How dare they reject His Potatoness?

  8. That noted, if the ndp are well and truly dead the lpc will won huge majorities for years to come.

  9. No mention of the byelection on the Flop and Flail‘s website when I checked nor did I see anything on the one for the Edmonton Sun.

  10. 6k of a possible 76k is hardly rallying . It’s pathetic and we need to suffer more seriously . The devastation and all we can muster is 6 k voters to go to the polls? That is down right pathetic. I guess it’s not bad enough yet. I’m happy the fake conservative won but still . 6k out of a possible 76k …freedom is in serious trouble.

  11. The turnout a few minutes ago was nearly 40% of eligible voters. I believe that’s about normal for most elections.

  12. Greetings I am so happy I found your site, I really found you by accident,
while I was searching on Bing for something else, Anyways I
am here now and would just like to say kudos for a remarkable post and a all round exciting blog (I also love the theme/design), I don’t have time
to look over it all at the moment but I have saved it and also included your RSS feeds,
so when I have time I will be back to read a great deal more, Please do
    keep up the great job.

  13. Some good news in an otherwise dreary landscape of progressive/commie death valley environment

  14. I’m not surprised at the outcome. I moved to Medicine Hat 30 years ago and one thing I noticed was how conservative the city back then.
For example, there was quite a flap over a store wanting to open on Sunday. On the other hand, there were lots of bars in town. Go figure.

  15. Well, so much for PM Shuck n Jive dropping by for a cameo selfie session.
Despite the efforts of the Corpse, LCTV, and GlowBULL, Potatoes don’t grow in October.
The shine is off. He can’t run against Harrrrrpurrrrrrr any more.
    HAH!

  16. No Wild Rose in Federal elections, y’all.
Seems Alberta is the last place that is immune to his Potatoness. Makes me proud to be here.

  17. By election didn’t make the cut on qr770, but flu clinic and gender confused four year old in a custody battle did.

  18. Turnout was 44% Percent of popular vote for the Conservative candidate went up 2% from last election. NDP cratered.
    Bob Wanner call your office.

  19. ‘wait for the predictable media spin whereby Mr. Sakamoto’s share of the vote will be held up as an endorsement of the sh*t show in Ottawa that the Liberals have created’
See National Post where in their deluded minds Prince Spud’s huge popularity has negated the NDP vote once and for all time and Liberal hegemony across Canada is ensured forever.

  20. Wildrose are in the 68% number. In the rough equivalent of the provincial boundaries, Wildrose hammered the PC’s in the 2015 provincial election and the NDP won the riding by a couple of points over Wildrose. You are looking through the wrong end of the telescope.

  21. It didn’t warrant coverage on CBC /Ctv . A small phrase in the writing went by. I imagine it would have been the same had the Liberal won. Quite an imagination I Have there !

  22. The RHINOS in America had their chance(s) … and their base will NEVER return to them. In a way, the RHINOS are like being fragged by friendly troops in the foxhole. You expect the ENEMY to be shooting at you … but you never expect to be shot in the back by so-called friendly fire.

  23. Mr. Sakamoto attempted to turn a nasty beatdown into a positive by pointing out that the Liberals did gain ground from the last election. It doesn’t take a political scientist to see that any Liberal gains in the vote percentage came entirely as a result of the NDP being decimated. The media will be hard-pressed to spin this resounding Conservative victory into a Liberal win of sorts, however they will undoubtedly attempt to do so. Failing that, they will simply resort to ignoring the by-election results entirely and continue to trumpet the fact that 2,000 plus showed up to see Trudeau.

  24. The Rhinos in Canada are very different from the RINOs in the USA. The Rhinoceros party is a joke party, literally. The platform has in the past included such gems as saving energy by lowering the boiling point of water, doing our bit for the environment by leaving the Rocky Mountains exactly where they are, and reducing air travel by building a tunnel from Prince Edward Island to Vancouver Island.

  25. Oh yeah !???!! … we have a “lifetime” Governor who is building a high-speed train to replace air travel between Fresno and Silicon Valley. Oh, wait … I mean Sacramento to Bakersfield. Uh … No, Fresno to Los Angeles. Oh wait … the rock formation through the Tehachapis is highly fractured and will take a $175 Billion for its construction alone. Sorry taxpayers … the cost has already ballooned to 17x the original estimate. Current projections indicate that ticket prices will need to be $ 775.00 for a round trip … which our surveys indicate the public will be happy to pay … if they can just avoid LAX. Even though airfare is only $ 145.00 round trip. Not to worry, taxpayers will subsidize ticket cost for all Central American unaccompanied minors who need a ride to pick olives in Corning, CA. and get to their subsidized housing.

  26. Back in their heyday, managed to get card showing my father was a Vice-President in the Rhinoceros Party. Cost $15, as I recall, and I was given a card as well.

  27. Comment of the Day:
….I suspect voter fraud. There is no way the NDP could get 1% of the vote.
    agreed…
