It will go down as one of the great failures of the Harper government that they did not resign Canada’s membership in the United Nations when they had the chance.
Furious Israeli politicians accused the UN’s cultural arm of anti-Semitism Thursday in the wake of a resolution approved by UNESCO that erases the Jewish connection the Jerusalem holy sites.
Lawmakers from both the right and left of the political spectrum said the decision, which refers to the Temple Mount and Western Wall only by their Muslim names and condemns Israel as “the occupying power” for various actions taken in both places, was ill-befitting of UNESCO.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the decision “absurd,” while President Reuven Rivlin called it an “embarrassment” for UNESCO. The Executive Board of UNESCO is next week set to approve the resolution, which passed Thursday at the committee stage.
Culture Minister Miri Regev slammed the resolution as “shameful and anti-Semitic,” and Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel called for Israel to increase the Jewish presence on the Temple Mount, a flashpoint site governed by a tense status quo, in response.
“To say that Israel has no link to the Temple Mount is like saying that China has no link to the Great Wall or that Egypt has no connection to the Pyramids,” Netanyahu said, adding that “with this absurd decision UNESCO has lost what little legitimacy it still had.”
No, the great failure of the Harper government was to fail to shitcan the CBC. Why any government would keep alive a government agency malignantly opposed to that government’s existence is utterly beyond me.

Then; ;as I laughing-up my sleeve-Say; “The money not spent on Maintenance & Construction will be used to fund the International Communication Capabilities to & from every Member Nation”.
This will then steadily erode any desire of the various Elite “Entitled to their Entitlements” wanting to be involved in the Mundane discussions of the United Nations. The U.N. will slowly fade into the Ingominy it deserves.

The CBC wasn’t and isn’t opposed to the government’s existence. The CBC is malignantly devoted to the government’s existence and to more and more of it, because the CBC sees the government as an extension of itself.

In fairness, Harper was not in a position to resign from the UN. Canadians love the UN like they love the CBC. Everything Harper did was deemed outrageous by the left. Most were good moves (eg dumping Kyoto, census, etc.). Unfortunately, there is a narrative out there that was anti-Harper and anti-conservative. Their noise making was loud enough in the last election so Libs are now in.
This is very much to our detriment as we now take orders from the UN and democracy is undermined as the press ignores Liberal screw ups — such as Monsef and our economy takes a dive. I have no hope that Canada will survive as an in tact nation for very much longer. If Hillary gets in we will be sucked into some North American Union with more and more immigration from groups that do NOT want to assimilate.
