  1. how bout we just trash the thing. it was drafted by lawyers, for lawyers and the people had no say in it. let’s go back to what we had, it wasn’t broken until pierre Elliot twadles got his fingers in the pie.

  2. I call for it to be trashed. 11 old white guys told an old white woman to sign on the dotted line without any consultation of the people upon whom it was imposed.

  3. Yes! Let’s trash it and let the current crop of libtards tell us what rights we’ve got!
    Best idea ever!

  4. Lets wipe are arses with the Trudeau Charter of “group rights”. A charter imposed without consent from those it affects. A charter where some “groups” are more equal than others and unelected unaccountable Judges dole out “rights and freedoms” as they “interpret”. I prefer Parliamentary democracy to elitist dictatorships… The artificial construct of Trudopiastan and its overbearing costs, both monetarily and socially, can’t die soon enough for me. Isn’t it funny when people say we didn’t have any “rights and freedoms” before the effeminate little commie pervert Peeair came along and saved us all from the scourge of the Magna Carta and the BNA act… funny stuff… gee, thanks Pee Pee.

  5. I watched a bit but had to stop. John doesn’t understand the societal changes that are underway. these changes will keep eroding our freedoms and way of life until society stops functioning and we have complete economic collapse.
Just when Western society has reached its peak and should continue generating untold wealth, society changes for the worst. The takers outnumber the producers and governments become unbearable overlords, extracting taxes, making rules and regs that prevent the producers continuing. Slowly, the producers give up and become takers too, because it is easier and more enriching to live off the dole than trying to earn a living.
At some point, after the state has made paper fiat worthless by printing too mauch, there is no revenue from taxes. Then what?
Sadly constitutions are mere pieces of paper filled with platitudes which no one even refers to because it is a toothless document. ASo John can argue for a new one or for changes but it will have no effect. Society wants what the state cannot deliver – bread and circuses in perpetuity.
Enjoy the decline. It will be a long time, several hundred years if history is a guide, before we, I mean our great, great, great, great grandchildren, will enjoy the prosperity and freedoms the boomers enjoyed.

  6. A constitution is intended to be the people’s law controlling the activities of government. Thus the U.S. constitution both creates and limits its government and exists outside the operational governance process.
In Canada the constitution act is an act of government and can be changed by government; therefore does not limit government and is therefore an agreement among governments, not a constitution.
If your friends want funding, they may want to start with a little historical truth and expose this con for what it is.

  7. One thing reforming the constitution could do is take legislative power away from the courts and give it to Parliament.

  8. First Step; Okay Parliament Supreme when it’s representatives are Locally Elected and Term Limits established. This is the manner of giving Acountability over Bureaucrats a chance of being the First Priority.
There will still be Feckless Elected M.P.’s who will respond to the Bureaucrat entitlements of preferred Treatment, but similar to the sense of Productivity by reducing and amending Tort Laws can be a Satisfacting Legacy; If it becomes important. Importance of this needs to become a benefit Touted & presented as Tax-Reduction based on Truth and Accuracy.
The Former Required Departmental Budget Examination process which the consummate Bureaucrat English Public School Toadie Lester B. Pearson eliminated can and be an effective tool of Budget Control on specific boondoggle & Pet Programmes; But also a means to uncomplex the deliberate activities of Shielding through Obfuscation the Myriads of Hide The Crony Departments of Not Necessary-except for Nepotism and Cronyism.
Finally the prevention of Shutting Down “First Past the Post” in each Riding SCAM; Must be Stopped. If this is not Done Then BWWB-king and Sofia’s or what ever Her Name is Children will become similar to the ascension of the Bourbon/Trudeau Royal Regimes.

  9. We can bemoan necessary change as the system was never defined for the geography of Canada. Volumes indeed can be written and read, pundits can pontificate. The topic makes you ill because so much better is possible, but, the party in power must want to fix it: guess what? They never do. Even the Reformers liked it once they had Senate appointments. And once the electoral system changes, Mikesr is right, the ascension remains most likely. Ponder a better system, indeed hope springs eternal, once upon a time: the reality is this is time not well wasted.

  10. Curing a hang nail (the constitution) will do nothing to cure the cancer that is eating away the vitality of the country.
It’s like having nice hair covering an empty head. What good is it?

  11. Canada’s constitution worked well enough when enough of the electorate understood it and used it properly. Trying to perfect it is another fatal distraction from proper conditioning of the electorate to fulfill its responsibility to make the country work. Democracy works only as well as its electors, no matter what the details of the constitution are. The permanent political and bureaucratic class doesn’t want the constitution changed because they don’t want the voters interfering with their sinecures.
