Picking Up The Tab

Seth Barron on the unmentionable costs of illegal immigration:

New York’s Health + Hospitals Corporation, which runs the city’s massive public health infrastructure, takes it as its mission to provide care to anyone who needs it, without regard for immigration status. This policy is a major reason why HHC is on constant verge of financial collapse. During the last fiscal year, HHC needed an emergency allocation of $337 million from the city [i.e., taxpayers] just to keep its doors open, and the prognosis for the future is even worse. At an April press conference, Dr Raj Ramu, president of HHC, said that caring for illegals consumes about one-third of his $7.6 billion annual budget. Rounding down, that means that $2.5 billion — of which the city is picking up an increasingly large chunk every year, as state and federal aid dries up — goes toward providing health care to illegal aliens in New York.

One of these.

  1. The Health Costs in America may be traced directly to HOW each State pays for Illegal Aliens & the uninsured, plus the funding of Medic-AID (those identifiable poor Americans) Those costs
drive health care in America. In New Jersey (1990’s) those with Health insurance were charged 3 times the normal rates (Cadillac rates) and that money was used. It could be said that Health insurance cost was 3 times more expensive than normal.
The Emergency rooms are full of Illegal Aliens & those without Insurance…The law requires that health services MUST be provided, regardless of ability to PAY. What is strange is that the Hospitals never try to collect the COST after the patient is treated.. The Emergency rooms in Arizona provide Illegal children immunization service, without charge. Some mothers arrive in new Humvies and could pay, but the transactions are not documented….
