  1. Excessive costs do not fit the narrative of the eco-agenda. it jsut doesn’t matter to them.
Cuz we’re all gonna die, or something like that, if we don’t follow the agenda.

  2. And biofuels make your car engine less efficient.
    that is a fact.
Your car will use more fuel when biofuels are mixed in with actual gasoline made from petrol.
It will also make less power so you may try to compensate by pushing the gas pedal further…thus you will use even more fuel.
and using more fuel means more CO2 released
these facts have been known for years or decades…well known by those who do not get their news from the main stream media.
biofuels are a terrible idea in many ways.

  3. And biofuels (gasohol) are less efficient, giving poorer mileage than gasoline. It’s a scam all-round. But I hope that doesn’t come as a surprise.

  4. And biofuels make your car engine less efficient.
Ethanol does, but that’s not true of all biofuels. Perhaps you thought ethanol is the only biofuel? Consider that not all vehicles run on gasoline.

  5. Lance
In the big picture, it just doesn’t matter to the eco-warriors, whether its bio-fuels, solar, wind, etc. While they might on the surface be clean, which arguably they are not when one digs into the actual processes to extract rare-earth metals for the bird killers, for example, the eco-set tells us, Goebbels style, that we must, or else!
It seems the more inefficient the ‘green tech’, the more the eco-warriors prefer it.
I’ve always been against burning food in our gas tanks, its a ridiculous policy, unless, there is no government subsidies, at all. Then let the free market decide.
BTW, the eco-warriors LOVE subsidies, except those mysterious subsidies they claim that “Big Oil” ™ seems to receive.

  6. Ethanol is the most used…other biofuels are almost never used and hard to find.
So there was no need for me to get into details.
    My point still stands,
the most used biofuel is inneficient, it increases fuel consumption and reduces power.

  7. Al Gore took ONE science class in college (so much for a well-balanced ‘liberal’ education) … and received a C-
Yet the entire Federal Government is spending tens of $$$$ BILLIONS on “climate change research” … WASTING … the taxpayer dollars on some C- students power-point presentation from 15 years ago. We live in SICK times. With sick people in charge of decisions they are unqualified to make.
Trump 2016 … for REAL change. And if he doesn’t make changes ? He’ll get tossed too. With Trump there is a CHANCE for change … with Hillary -0- chance … and with ANY GOPe ? -0-

  8. All biofuels are less efficient…it obviously takes more energy to grow and process plants to the same energy concentration that already exists with oil pumped from the ground.
    There’s no perpetual motion machine…

  9. Biofuels are much more efficient when grown and harvested by hand, by slave labor.
Which is the endgame of the Green Plan, with us as the slaves. No stinky machines, just joyful, rosy cheeked peasants living off the bounty of the land. Or dying in a bad year, it’s all the same really. Peasants are revolting, after all.
For Gaia to live, we must thin the surplus population, you know.

  10. Well said!
Speaking as a almost lifelong farmer, at first I thought it was a good idea, but then realized it was taking out human food production acres to grow energy inefficiently, all the while having hundreds of years of oil and gas reserves in the ground.
About the only ethical use for grain as ethanol is to use crops that because of weather such as frost, etc are unfit for human or animal food.
    Just another Luddite fraud.

  11. Ethanol is the most used…other biofuels are almost never used and hard to find. The most used biofuel is inneficient, it increases fuel consumption and reduces power.
No, wood is the most used biofuel. Some combustion processes are inefficient, but the growing of trees is a rather efficient way of storing solar energy.
Biodiesel is commonly used as an additive to diesel fuel all over North America.
If you want to make comments about ethanol then be specific, your general comments about biofuels are incorrect.

  12. All biofuels are less efficient…it obviously takes more energy to grow and process plants to the same energy concentration that already exists with oil pumped from the ground.
Your statement is totally incorrect; the ‘energy concentration’ has nothing to do with efficiency. Do you even realize that petroleum is biomass that’s been compressed, heated and concentrated over millions of years?

  13. Some can’t seem to grasp that the problem is the crazy eco-nut, earth-fool, rent-seeking, eco-warriors, not the biofuels [ethanol is the exception] they happen to promote. Don’t dismiss the technology just because fools promote it or how it’s applied. If they all drove GM cars would you blame GM or the people using them?
I agree that growing food for fuel is not a good idea, however using crop waste and slaughterhouse waste that’s not fit for human food and converting it into a biofuel diesel fuel additive that significantly reduces harmful exhaust emissions makes good sense.

  14. …however using crop waste and slaughterhouse waste that’s not fit for human food and converting it into a biofuel diesel fuel additive that significantly reduces harmful exhaust emissions makes good sense.
Except it doesn’t reduce harmful emissions. Less energy density means means more fuel burned and more emissions.
    From the article…
“When it comes to the emissions that cause global warming, it turns out that biofuels are worse than gasoline.”

  15. Your statement is totally incorrect; the ‘energy concentration’ has nothing to do with efficiency.
    Heh…

  16. “Biodiesel is commonly used as an additive to diesel fuel all over North America.”
Only because of legislation, subsidies and distortionary taxes on alternatives. None would spent a penny on production of biodiesel had it not been for the government interfering in the process in the first place.
“however using crop waste and slaughterhouse waste that’s not fit for human food and converting it into a biofuel diesel fuel additive that significantly reduces harmful exhaust emissions makes good sense.”
Only if the unsubsidized process does not cost more than the market value of the product. And it does.

  17. Except it doesn’t reduce harmful emissions.
Incorrect again. I’m not speaking about CO2 or GHGs, you are. They’re not harmful. I’m speaking specifically to toxic pollution from diesel engine exhaust. Biodiesel additive significantly reduces unburned hydrocarbons and harmful particulates in diesel exhaust, especially for the large fleet of older diesel engines still in service. Do a little research and don’t believe everything you think.

  18. Re: Petroleum fuels are indeed bio-mass.
For decades now, the idiots at CBC and other mainstream media sources have instilled the fear of oil into the hearts and souls of leftists, mostly unsuspecting viewers, readers and listeners who are afraid of their own shadows.
Vaseline aka petroleum jelly is used worldwide in hundreds of cosmetics, medicinal and industrial products. Mineral oil can be consumed, applied as skin care, or used in a gear box. I was fixing a gear on an old Kitchen Aid electric mixer, I used Lubriplate in the transmission box, a white petroleum based grease that is safe and approved for food processing equipment. Natives in Northern Alberta treated burns and wounds with oil for the tar sands. Trappers waterproofed their canoes with it.
We need to correct that fear through education.

  19. Biodiesel additive significantly reduces unburned hydrocarbons and harmful particulates in diesel exhaust…
Costs more to produce, which equals more energy expended to produce it…on top of that biodiesel only has 93% of the energy of diesel which equals more gallons burned to do the same work…duh
And it gums up the gawddamn fuel system
You’re obviously not the sharpest knife in the drawer…

  20. The “Fuel from Food” discussion always brings out the extremist opinions. They like to make it sound like food is grabbed from the mouths of the world’s starving poor children to make a gasoline additive of dubious value.
Growing food to be fermented into fuel alcohol is an inefficient process that consumes more energy in the form of diesel fuel, natural gas and coal than is contained in the ethanol fuel produced. But of course that’s not how it’s done. Here’s a reality check to challenge those misconceptions.
The corn that’s used for brewing ethanol is a small fraction of the enormous quantity of feed corn grown for the industrial meat business[CAFO].The pork and poultry industries consume most of the feed corn. Once the ethanol is extracted the spent mash returns to the animal food production stream; it’s not thrown away. Converting corn into meat is an even more inefficient process than converting it into fuel, but nobody complains about food-animal production inefficiency only about the price of meat.
Most of the energy goes into producing the animal feed, only a small percent is actually consumed by producing the ethanol by-product. That’s why it’s such a lucrative scam. The real purpose of the corn ethanol scam is to increase the subsidies to farmers growing feed corn.
If we were truly concerned about the starving billions of poor people, then we wouldn’t be growing animal feed, we would be growing human food and selling it to the world’s poor for cheap. That’s not likely to happen is it?

  21. Modern Diesel engine’s exhaust is cleaner than the air it takes in for combustion. The “large fleet of older diesel engines” is rapidly shrinking because companies who don’t upgrade regularly soon go out of business. If you want to see actual dirty diesel exhaust, go to a third-world country, or China where they have no intention of burning food for fuel.

  22. The net energy balance [NEB]on biodiesel is far different from corn ethanol. Corn grain ethanol has a low NEB because of the high energy input required to produce corn and to convert it into ethanol. In contrast, soybean biodiesel provides ≈93% more energy than is required in its production.

Anyone with actual experience knows that biodiesel added to diesel fuel cleans fuel systems and reduces toxic pollution from diesel exhaust. People who know how to use google can prove that to themselves. Those who are too lazy to research their misconceived opinions can continue to wallow in their ignorance. Their proven foolishness with unsupported opinions isn’t my problem.
We can lead people to knowledge but we can’t make them think.

  23. In contrast, soybean biodiesel provides ≈93% more energy than is required in its production.
Heh, that’s why it needs subsidies to survive?…not to mention the lower energy density, more fuel to do less work.
Anyone with actual experience knows that biodiesel added to diesel fuel cleans fuel systems…
Really, wonder why it needs all those additives? You’ve never experienced gelled fuel at -40 below, have you? And where do you think all that debris goes that it ‘cleans out’?…plugs the filters, dumbass.
Use more fuel to do less work…all it amounts to…

  24. No, wood is the most used biofuel…”
duh!!! the article is about fuel used in cars.
    You are a strange person…

  25. BioFuels are Bull$hit – Period.
Their production takes up agricultural land
They have an Avg ROEI (Return On Energy Invested),of ~1 : 1.3 (Oil is 1 : 8) See: Keifer USN on BioFuels
Ever wonder how it is that Costco can sell Gasoline cheaper than anyone else…?? likely 10-15% ethanol…and you will see it in your gas mileage.
Ever wonder why numerous Ethanol plants have gone out of business once the Fed Grants run out…?
Feel Good gore/suzuki inspired BS…no matter how you look at it….pretty much like every bit of Eco NaZI MARXIST Garbage the two of them spew…
I love my 06 straight piped (turbo back) – Emissions free, Duramax (469,650kms), which at 7950 lbs doing 125 will still give me 20.5 mpg….and if needed, can pull a 10,000lb 30′ fifth Wheel up a 6% grade at 115 without a sweat…..lets see a Volt/Tesla do that…at any price point…? Ha.
Bio Fuels, Solar Energy and Electric Cars…all Feel Good Disinformation for the weak minded..(pokemon players I guess)_

  26. I can make 92% ethanol for about 2$/litre.
Ethanol has about a quarter of the energy/liter of gasoline.
Making it around 7-10 times more expensive than gasoline. That’s just not fair, and its speceisist against all that hardworking yeast fungus.
Obviously, the only answer is to tax gasoline so that ethanol can compete in a fair and free market!
Now where’s my cushy government sinecure?

  27. I have a hard time giving credibility to any article or argument(whether pro or con biofuels) that uses the premise that carbon dioxide is a dangerous “greenhouse gas” that needs to be controlled.
