If you want to address the problems with Muslim culture then do so. However, this ban is not the answer. Yes it is about telling people what they can and cannot wear. And who is going to decide it? What becomes acceptable?
I’ll tell you, there are many high school girls that need a mother to teach them some modesty. If they don’t, should the state?
“I’ll tell you, there are many high school girls that need a mother to teach them some modesty. If they don’t, should the state?”
No. The state should NOT teach modesty to the 99% of high schools girls need it. That’s a job for the rapists and muzzies.
This is why France is so hopeless. They are tracking 5,620 suspected terrorists within their borders and they elect to ban a certain style of bathing suit.
The only way to stop Burkas at the beach is to stop people who want to wear them at the border and send them back to shitholeistan. The french are treating the symptoms and not the disease.
This time lets NOT send our men over there to give them back their country.
“The french are treating the symptoms and not the disease.”
The disease is Arab Cultural Hegemony, commonly know as Islam.
The French have always done a lot to preserve their language and their culture.
In fact, preserving French culture is one of those French cultural things.
Banning the burka in France is doing the right thing, for the French.
Does banning the Burkini(what a stupid name) make Mohammadans feel unwelcome?
I hope so. Accommodation is submission, at least that’s how the head choppers see it.
Ban the Burkini?? What!! Not only should they not ban it but instead they should mandate it. Instead, ban the bakini.
Think about it:
Health benefits of less sun exposure. Burkini, yes, bakini, no.
With the bakini’s titillating semi nudity, men act in primitive ways, leading to rape and molestation of women. With the burkini, they rarely even go to the beach, preferring to just drink beer and talk about sports at the local pub.
BAN THE BAKINI!
The burkini establishes a beachhead.
Then male believers will protect he wearer from staring eyes.
And in due course the beach will be a ‘no go’ area for non believers and/or whites.
That is what it is all about.
“That is what it is all about.”
Mostly.
Burkas, hijabs, various bags say: this woman is the property of and has the protection of a Mohammadan brother, -Do-Not-Target-.
This clothing is a ‘no-targeting’ device. Women wearing the “I am a Muslima” markings are safe from rape, having acid thrown in their face, etc. by Mohammadans other than their immediate family.
The ‘Halal’ markings on food have the same function.
If the food does not have a halal marking on it, then chances are that some Mohammadan working in the food supply chain has adulterated it and it is not safe to consume.
They are living in Dar al Harb(House of War) and making war is a religion for these people.

What’s a bakini? Do you mean bikini?
“bakini” – perhaps it’s just facetious play on words as it(bikini) allows the girl to be baked by the sun.
I think the definition is some were in Deuteronomy, and if not maybe Genesis.
Simply ban face coverings in public; the rest is immaterial. We are an open faced culture that judges people’s honesty and forthrightness by facial expressions. People with masks can’t be trusted and have no public place in our society. What people choose to wear in the privacy of their lives is their business.
remember zoot suits – how about capri pants – or short shorts – or powder blue tuxedos? the question boils down to one very difficult question…. is the islamic culture/religion/system of governance compatible with the judeo christian culture/religion/system of governance? if yes, no problem.
if no, then a stand still needs to be put into effect in order to minimize the grief. we can figure this out. when islam has figured out that the west is not interested in triumphalism, then sitting down and talking about what happens next (rationally) would be the next logical step.
be prepared to hold your breath for 20 years! there is a disclaimer here – I cannot hold my breath for more than 2 minutes!
this is their problem and they are entirely welcome to it and all the solutions available. i look forward to geert wilders being leader of a majority government. new ground rules will be established.
I agree.
We do seem to be accommodating this 7th century ideological culture masquerading as a religion more and more all the time even in Canada. It is time to stop importing more of them or we will soon have the same problems that France and Germany have. It is bad enough that we are continually caving into the PETA freaks.
The incident in the column about the dress and cross is why there is such a push to disarm citizens. Had she just shot the POS that came up to her car, called the cops and her hubby, and simply gave a story of him rushing at her whilst “ready for action”, incidents like this would quickly cease.
“It is bad enough that we are continually caving into the PETA freaks.”
A good dose of Islam will fix PETA’s little red wagon, eh?
Did you hear the one about the vegan Muslim? Me neither.
Sugar-coated bullshit.
It’s not the government’s business to tell people what to wear … at the beach or anywhere else.
Certain French resorts are banning it, so that’s not the government.
A tight-fitting burkini, unless a loose top is worn over it, shows the female form and is just as tantalizing to men I would think.
Remember Mary Tyler Moore and the objections that were made to her capri pants? She was the first one to wear them on TV, but then, not every woman has a figure like MTM.
I was at a beach today on the St. Lawrence. Lots of Muslim women in burkinis — not really bathing suits, just their headscarfs, lots of fabric covering up. My only complaint is that you feel somewhat exposed in front of Muslim men if you just have a normal bathing suit on. Now they also had some kind of device for Muslim feet washing (for “ablutions”) A Muslim name was posted over the device. This was clearly installed by the Ontario government.
I have two complaints about ths. This particular beach does not offer proper change rooms, so money is being spent to accommodate a minority before addressing basic needs of everyone. My second complaint is that at the nearby Upper Canada Village, phony “holiday” festivities they go out of their way to erase any tace that Christmas is/was a Christian holiday. This is a place that us supposed to be about history and tradition. But — if you’re Muslim and need a footbath for your worship practice — you got it! Like those prayer rugs the Feds. reputedly bought. Religion is kept out of the public sphere — unless it is the Muslim religion.
If we saw a black man in chains being walked behind a white man we would be enraged and rightly so.
How is the seeing a woman in a burka/niqab any different?
That said, ordering the black man to remove his chains is perverse. The correct thing to do is to arrest the white guy – or the woman’s keeper.
Yes, well put, Gordon Tulk.
Some people here think it is an issue where banning these garments restricts the woman’s choice. You frame it clearly that burkas etc. are not the woman’s choice, but rather her owner’s preference.
The same people who force women to wear burkas are forcing little girls to have clitorectomies.
Islam means submission. Muslims are those who submit. Choice?
The choice, for us, is to submit to a brutal and alien Arab culture or reject it as unacceptable, uncivilized and unworthy of our heritage of freedom.
Not pervert our heritage and use our heritage to protect Arab culture that rejects our heritage and uses our inherited values to subvert and destroy our culture, our choice and liberty.
These people are not immigrants, they are invaders. They come not to join us and our liberty. They come to subvert our culture, destroy our choices, our liberty, and supplant it with their own brutal culture.
you have to be a complete and utter idiot not to understand that everything that Muslims/Islam does to push the envelope against their western hosts is done to establish Islamic hegemony over the host culture.
Any state that is interested in stopping the islamicization of their nation will ban burkinis, face coverings, sharia laws etc.
Islam is a political ideology and those that do not reject it will ultimately be submissive to it. Either willingly or at the point of a sword.
If you don’t believe the Burkini is a political tool you’re a fool
Muslim men enforcing Sharia law against women in France has been growing for years.
Now having gotten away with assassinating/beheading an elderly French priest in a Normandy church celebrating mass.
The jihadi see that as “breaking the cross”, an order from the Caliph to do likewise.
Thus the Salafists are salivating, as they ramp up the enforcement of Sharia law against women out in public in France.
Open season on a women outside the home, while not in the “custody” of a man.
Joan d’Arc would be a great name for women’s pistol gun clubs in France.
Either that or they can surrender, veil themselves and become part of the harem.
I think the 2017 National elections in France will be most interesting.
Oz, Ward:
Don’t forget that socialism/communism uses the same tactic as Islam. It, too, has been slowly pushing boundaries by undermining the fundamental structure of our culture and society, doing so slowly over the decades but becoming more blatant since the end of the Cold War.
It often accomplishes from within what Islam does from outside. It’s not surprising, therefore, that the left is usually silent about the tactics of groups such as ISIS. Both have the same objective: the conquest of western civilization.
In public, a person has the right to wear whatever he or she wants, subject only to modesty rules. There is no such thing as too modest. So I disagree with the bans. And just because such clothing may be a sign of oppression in many cases doesn’t mean it is in all cases.
If a woman is okay with the public thinking that the world is a tuxedo and she’s a pair of brown shoes, that’s her choice.

I’m sorry, but fighting the creeping misogyny of the Islamists telling women what they can and can not wear with the creeping misanthropy of the state telling (women in particular in this case) what harmless activities they can and can not participate in isn’t a solution.
I cannot believe that there are those here who don’t understand the phrase “creeping sharia”.
Even the great James Dellingpole doesn’t seem to get this.
Islam delenda est.
Full Stop. Until it’s successfully defeated in all ways, large and small, it will continue it’s march until…
Well, all here (at least the informed) should know the end result…
Convert, subjugate or say your final words in preparation to lose your head.
“telling (women in particular in this case) what harmless activities they can and can not participate in isn’t a solution.”
It isn’t harmless. Nothing about the death cult Islam is harmless.
Resistance is part of the solution. You are part of the problem.
How about shaking hands?

The walking talking flagpoles of radical Islam are “Slut-Shaming” civilised women – but liberal chicks are too dumb to figure this out while they wail about the ‘white male patriarchy’. Girls should go live with the middle eastern male patriarchy, see how that works out for them…
There are simply no reasonable grounds in a free society for banning the burkini.
Far as I’m concerned, the West is going about this all wrong. You want to walk around in a black tent 24/7? Go for it. But, I need the right to say “NO”!
No, you can’t drive a car! No, you can’t cash a cheque, use your Visa, get on an aeroplane, or engage in a host of other activities where identity is an issue … unless I can see your happy f******* face.
“Yes it is about telling people what they can and cannot wear. ”
No it is about telling mooselimbs what they can and cannot wear.
“And who is going to decide it? ”
Non-mooselimbs.
“no reasonable grounds in a free society for banning the burkini.”
Yes there are. Islam is at war with us.
They intend to convert, enslave, or kill us.
Solid enough ground for people who don’t want those three things to happen to them.
This is a sign that there may be some hope for France. They are willing to do some things to push back at the invasion. Whether this is the best thing or even a right thing in that line is not nearly as important as the fact that they are trying something.
It’s not a free society that has ethnic/religious immigrant enclaves that are no-go zones for the government authorities, including armed police. It’s not a free society that has those groups taking over the streets with mass prayer demonstrations. It’s not a free society that has those groups rioting. It’s not a free society that has it’s women and some religious minorities afraid to be unguarded in public places.
