Oh, my! I completely forgot about that song! It was on the charts during my final undergraduate year.
I spoke to a friend of mine today who is a retired RBC manager. He got a knock at the door this PM from a representative of Statistics Canada . The lady informed him that she was from Census, and that his ”long form’, that he had filled out online, was never received by Statistics Canada. He immediately gave her the confirmation number, however was told that he had to fill out another ”long form.”
This guy worked at a major RBC branch that dealt with many contractors who were involved with the potash industry in Saskatchewan. I’m sure he knows how to fill out a census form better than anyone. When he asked why he had to start over, he was informed that, because of a glitch in Stats Can’s computer programs, the information from his original form could not be processed.
I didn’t understand why he he wasn’t allowed to fill it out online, nor did he, however it took him about 60 minutes to do the form manually.
I have a couple of concerns. A: If the information disappeared, where did it end up?? And who has access to it?? B: Why didn’t the poster boy Trudeau and his cohorts at stats can verify the reason why the Harper Conservatives had scrapped the long forms? My guess is that Stats Can had had problems in the past and had not yet found the right program to handle the large amount of info!
Only a fool would give their real name, address and telephone number to the census fools at Statistics Canada.
Terror in Nice. Please tell us we don’t need leaders in the western world who recognize the problem and take real action, start profiling, stop immigration from Islamic countries. This is war use war measures acts to clean out the murdering marauders who come to our countries then raise the so-called “home growns”.
The Western World needs Donald Trump, he is the only one to spell it out, the others are part of the problem.
Super fast wireless connections …. Coming to your neighborhood soon.
“U.S. Federal Communications Commission voted unanimously to open nearly 11 gigahertz of high-frequency spectrum for mobile, flexible and fixed-use wireless broadband.
Companies including Verizon Communications Inc and AT&T Inc already were moving closer to adopting 5G, the fifth generation of wireless technology. New 5G networks are expected to provide speeds at least 10 times and maybe 100 times faster than today’s 4G networks, the FCC said.
There is a worldwide race to adopt 5G. South Korea and Japan plan to deploy it by the time they host the Olympics, in 2018 and 2020, respectively. The European Commission, South Korea, China and Japan are all working on 5G research efforts.”

It seems that the new British PM, Theresa May, is an introvert. I can’t help but wonder if the British press will treat her as badly as the Canadian Press treated Harper. She doesn’t have kids, so no opportunity to make a fuss about a handshake. Likely the British press has more class than the Canadian version.
AGW RIP.

He should have refused. With a confirmation they weren’t likely to put him in jail. I think StatsCan is beginning to look pretty bad. Harper was ahead of the pack on this. Other developed countries do not seem to require mandatory responses to lengthy, coercive questionnaires to gather data on citizens. I think the US has 7 questions. Canada begins to look very backwards in their approach to data gathering. This was another hysterical antiHarper response from the left.

How does he know she really was from Statistics Canada?
Jean:
The original forms were delivered by an individual hired to do so, The number on the forms tells Stats Can where they were left off. In a rural setting, it is possible to get away with that, however in a town or city, virtually impossible.

How did he know she was from Stats Can??
She spoke Arabic and wore a hijab! Just kidding!!
My buddy worked at RBC, however when he retired he did contract work as an auditor for a major credit union thus he knew her from her real job.
He wasn’t against filling out the original census form. He was against having to do it twice over a government screw up!

All you have to do is be polite, appear to be cooperative, and be creative. Sure they know the address, but the name and telephone number can be whatever you choose to give them, or leave it blank on the form.
Jesus Weeps: I can appreciate that your friend chose to take the easy out, but armed with a confirmation number, I would have told the supposed census dweeb to put it where the sun don’t shine. That they ‘lost’ the original is their problem, not mine. And there’s absolutely nothing they can or could do to retaliate. Lost my return? Geez, that’s too bad! chortle, hee hee.

Naming an environmental activist who once compared Alberta’s oilsands to Mordor as co-chair of the panel exploring how to implement the province’s climate change plan was a “massive mistake,” according to members of the CBC Calgary News at 6 Political Panel.
