Liberals have been courting the Muslim vote at the expense of Canadian values. Essentially they won the election because of their marijuana promise AND because of their exploitation of Muslim issues that were emerging at the time (e.g. niqab, removing citizenship for terrorists, immigration numbers). While the knee-jerk response was to suggest that it was Conservatives using Muslim issues to sow division, it was in fact Liberals carrying on with “Islamophobe, islamophobe” on every issue that emerged. Both the niqab issue and the citizenship for terrorists were not brought up by Conservatives as election issues, but they happened to have emerged at the time because of court decisions. The “snitch line” was NEVER a “snitch line” as painted by the left. It was in fact intended as a help line for victims. It also was part of a larger initiative to support women who are victims of extremism in Africa and the Middle East (e.g. Boko Haram). Unfortunately, none of this was ever pointed out by the media.
Because Liberals went out of their way to paint Conservatives as anti-Mulsim, anti-immigrant — they were the ones sowing division and using the issues for political gain. Unfortunately, too many Canadians bought their line. They used the Alan Kurdi episode to throw out irresponsible numbers regarding how many Syrians could be brought in how quickly. All of those parties promised to up the number of Syrian refugees coming to Canada, but the Conservatives and the NDP were far more responsible regarding how this would done — as we now see, with many new Syrians having to use Food Banks and disruption in schools because of a lack of supports. There will certainly be more problems emerging because of the hastiness with which Liberals made this promise and are proceeding to welcome large number of Muslims, many of whom adhere to a philosophy which is not compatible with Western culture.

It’s meant to imbue the minority with a perceived power to make people fearful. Many people believe that muslims are detestable for their cultural proclivities, however I’ve never met anyone who was actually fearful of them. Many people would consider stepping in dogshít as detestable, and something to be avoided, but only a neurotic person would be scatophobic and fearful of dogshít.
