  1. Love the song Kate! Thanks.
In 1964, some of the Chevy 409s with dual 4 barrel carbs reached 425 HP. (advertised)
Very few cars equipped with a big block engine could match the Horsepower of the 1964 Chevy 409, until later on when the Mopars, Fords etc. went to bigger cubes.
Today they could easily squeeze twice that power out of a turbocharged 409 with EFI.

  2. Publicity stunts like the most recent one at the remote northern Ontario aboriginal community Atawhatdafuk became inevitable when the Lieberals announced they would be more ‘aboriginal friendly’ than the Cons if elected. Now every aboriginal group is clamoring for media attention to leverage a bigger slice of Lieberal-Government-Pie.
Atawhatdafuk certainly deserves recognition for the innovative attention-getter of an alleged children’s group suicide pact “Give Us More Money – Do It For The Children”. The aboriginals saw how the media flogged an image of an allegedly drowned Syrian refugee child, which mobilized Canadians and the government to give money like it was a crisis that only more money could fix. They understandably want that money spent on aboriginal first immigrants, not on Jafar-Come-Lately Middle-Eastern recent immigrants.
Grab a comfortable seat and a bowl of popcorn as the 2016 Aboriginal Victim’s Compensation Games begin. We’re off to a good start and it’s not even Pow-Wow season yet.

  3. Camille Paglia is another feminist who doesn’t support Hillary.
“People don’t lay a glove on her,” she said. “The woman has never succeeded in any job, she’s created chaos after chaos, including now all of North Africa spilling its refugees into Europe, and it’s due to Hillary for taking out Gaddafi and not thinking about what would happen afterward.”
“I think she’s absolutely soulless,” she said. “I think she’s incompetent.”
She lamented that modern feminism has encourage millennials to demand coddling from college administrations in an effort to cocoon themselves. “They think of the world as basically their playpen,” she said. “They’ve been raised in a bourgeoisie buffer. They’ve been raised wrapped in cotton. I think it goes back to their removal from the old working-class realities of life.”
Well said, especially her comments about the spoiled whiner class.

The THIRD WORLDERS invading my State, are NOT “my people”. “My people” invented things like … indoor plumbing … sanitation … plumbing codes … health codes.
We stopped pissing in a hole in the ground, in the public square some time around the year 1215.
I am SOOOOOOOO praying that the current activity in the Ring of Fire takes out the entire City of misfits, with a nice cleansing FIRE or Tsunami.

  5. “The woman has never succeeded in any job…”
Hey, if Clinton does get to the White House it’ll just prove that the US truly is the Land of Opportunity where even losers can succeed!
(I love Paglia. With Chris Hitchens gone, she is about the only voice on the American left with a shred of humour, wit and perspicacity these days.)

  6. Kulak:
Remember, Mulroney is just another Frenchman from quebek. He was a liberal by any other name (inseret progressive here) and a thief.
Today his main objective is rehabilitation of his name.

  9. A report commissioned by the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations suggests just over half of Canadians aged 18 to 25 went to the polls in the last election, a sharp increase from the 39 per cent turnout in 2011.
The report suggests the Liberals have young voters — courted by the party and Justin Trudeau himself in the lead-up to and during the election campaign — to thank for their majority in the House of Commons.
    https://ca.news.yahoo.com/report-says-half-young-voters-cast-ballots-2015-120011191.html?nhp=1
The Lieberals ran a very successful “HateHarper” campaign in the social media world that youth predominate. It started as soon as JT was selected as party leader. It appears the Conservatives never saw it coming, and instead beamed TV attack ads at the party faithful. It was a classic case of how not-to-win an election.

  10. Try to look past your comments and look at the bigger picture, that Indians in Canada live under an apartheid system, the Indian Act keeps them separate and apart. Non-Indian people only have to live under the Charter, but Indian people have to live under the terms of the Indian act first, then under the Charter.
And I don’t think it’s a publicity stunt, he is asking a valid question, they do live in third world conditions. Maybe one of the solutions would be to get those bureaucrats who run these people’s lives to move onto the reservations, why should they rule from the ivory tower.

  11. “Winnipegs’ Native Epidemic
Travelling to Winnipeg. Do yourself a favour…don’t.”
    “Winnipegs’ Native Epidemic”
“The growing aboriginal population is one of the biggest challenges that faces Winnipeg & the province of Manitoba. Simply put, the growing native demographic is placing a heavy financial burden on our public finances & resources, while contributing very little.
Here are the cold, hard grim facts: 80% of all natives in Manitoba are on welfare and under 2% of those EVER come off welfare. As of July 2014, there were 148,455 registered First Nation members in Manitoba. Those numbers are a staggering blow and drain to any economy. High levels of unemployment, domestic violence and family dysfunction are all prominent social issues plaguing the native community.
Add in major dependency issues, improper nutrition and the high school graduation rate of 28% and it doesn’t look good for the future. And with the alcohol & substance abuse, the problem of generations of children suffering from FASD and requiring a lifetime of care is a tragic reality… Even government education seems to have little effect.”

  12. Canadian ships can’t use the NW passage, but China will without asking our permission.
“China reveals plans to ship cargo across Canada’s Northwest Passage.”
An initial shipment could be made “pretty soon,” he said, and eventually build up to large volumes. Research suggests the Russian Northeast Passage, for example, could carry five million 20-foot equivalent containers per year, 40 per cent more than the annual movements through Port Metro Vancouver and “dozens of ships” per day, Prof. Yin said. But in Canadian waters, he said, “real commercial operations will have to wait a long time.” The Ministry of Transport pointed to a lengthy set of obstacles, including reliable infrastructure, hydrology data, telecommunications, rescue facilities and low efficiency. “Due to the many uncertainties of Arctic sailing, shipping times can’t be guaranteed, which is not good for container ships,” the ministry wrote.”
China’s encouragement of Northwest Passage shipping could pose “the biggest direct challenge to Canadian sovereignty in the Northwest Passage” if Chinese ships are dispatched without Canadian consent, warned Rob Huebert, a University of Calgary professor. Canada claims the interlocking routes of the Northwest Passage as “internal waters” that it alone governs.”
Canada has a limited ability to respond to an emergency in the Northwest Passage, raising the dark spectre of environmental disaster in one of the country’s most pristine places. Still, some in Canada’s North welcome the possibility of greater Chinese interest in the area, in part as a means to leverage more federal investment in roads and ports.”
Chinese tankers OK in NW passage, our ships &/or pipelines anywhere – not so much, as Mr Mulroney succinctly noted in his op ed piece for the FP.

  14. Why do a disproportionate number of kids in aboriginal communities skip school, do drugs, engage in risky behavior including crimes to pay for the drugs and other ‘stuff’; eventually drop out of school, join gangs, and either suicide or leave the community and ‘go missing’?
How is giving more money to their ‘leaders’, with no accountability, going to do any different than it has for generations?
Aboriginal communities have an income disparity issue like Africa. If you’re related to Chief and Council you live like a Saudi Prince, if you’re not related then you’re treated like an untouchable serf. Most aboriginal communities are like that. Greed, corruption, graft and nepotism is ‘traditional’.
This is just another attention getting ploy, like Chief Porkahauntus’ ‘hunger strike’. Nothing but an excuse to get national attention and leverage more money from the government.
Canada should do what Alaska did with their Native Land Claims Settlement 40 years ago. It dissolved the reserves, made the bands corporations and gave them a land base for income. No more special treatment or special dependency on the government. Everyone is equal, no racial discrimination.
Canada will never do that because the colonial bureaucracy that runs Aboriginal Affairs would never give up the power and control. Making aboriginals victims needing continuous compensation justifies that vast bureaucracy. The people who run it are rich and powerful. Governments come and go, but the bureaucracy lumbers on. That’s who really ‘runs’ Canada.

  15. Giving the dept of IA more money for the reserves will do one any good. The system, the dept, and the Chiefs who run the reserves are corrupt. Too much money, no accountability. I do remember Harper tried to get a financial accountability act through but the Chiefs cried the loudest.
We will never have equality in Canada until the Indian people themselves stand up and demand that the Indian act be abolished. That is a struggle only they can achieve. Throwing off the shackles of the Chiefs would be the first order of business. What’s the chance of that happening.
