Ms Kai Cheng Thom, a “trans woman writer, poet and performance artist based in Montreal,” bemoans the fact that “disorders like violent psychopathy” are “generally considered unlikeable,” possibly hazardous, “even in social circles that consider themselves progressive.” And that, while the public at large may be sympathetic towards people suffering clinical depression, “compassion for psychopaths, pathological liars, or narcissists” is, inexplicably, harder to come by.

Alt title of the article: I’m a sometimes violent transgender with Borderline Personality Disorder. Why doesn’t anybody like me?
a good psychopath learns to channel their insanity.
If she was American- definitely a Clinton supporter
If someone insists on a right to be an abusive schmuck, I’m going to insist on telling them to f#&% off.
“It’s so terribly unfair. Something must be done.”
Ironically, back in the old days something was done.
People like this were institutionalized to protect both themselves and society.
So a nineteen year old takes an intro psych course and finds herself described in the chapter on abnormal. How novel.
Bingo!
Interesting, you may note that in the first clip, there are actual real customers watching the ‘artiste’.
For all practical purpose, it appears as it were, an intellectual sink.
If everything is abnormal, then nothing is.
This example nicely represents the convergence of two (post)modern trends: (1) the trend in psychiatry to pathologize everything—see the DSM—and (2) the political/social trend of normalizing abnormal, anti-social behaviour—what Daniel Patrick Moynihan famously called “defining deviancy down”.
Now, everyone is sick and therefore no one is responsible; except, of course, for the white guys with all the money they stole from the rest of us by privileging their own pathologies over ours. They therefore owe the rest of us reparations in the form of everything they own.
Welcome to the future, where the white privileged class will be allowed to exist only to the extent necessary to allow everyone else to feed off them.
Lev, two comments on that — first, “There’s a sucker born every minute”; second, “It’s easier to con someone that it is to convince them they’ve been conned”.
What is troubling though is, that “it is becoming more common than it used to be” to paraphrase the song.
Here in CA, the Libs routinely blame Reagan for “emptying the Mental Institutions” through draconian republican funding cuts. It’s just the same ol typical leftist lie tactic. Blame the enemy for some disaster that you created. Prompted by the film “One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest” … leftist organizations and judges started a mental patients rights movement that empowered the mentally ill (and their families) to check themselves out of the institutions. Seems as though we are in phase II of that movement … when the “inmates (start) running the asylum”. So now all the “normal” people (cis-gendered ?) are treated as mental patients if they do not “accept” trans-gendered shims sharing a stall with your 8yo daughter. Yep, the general population HAS become the asylum.
