  1. Those tweet things confuse me a bit and I am not sure what happened with Trump but I think it was Obama who had said years ago “if they bring a knife we bring a gun”.
    That is all I got.
If anyone can explain what this post is about, please do.

  2. Pretty poor strategy trying to disrupt a Trump rally. If conservative protesters did that to Hillary, the media would line up to denounce such tactics as interfering with the Dems democratic process.

  3. The quote about bringing a gun is from the movie The Untouchables, with Kevin Costner and Sean Connery. It’s uttered by Connery’s character.

  4. Canadian Friend,
You are correct. That is an Obama quote. Trump is just following the rules that the Democrats play by. The rules given by their leader.
Like him or hate him, Trump is not a milquetoast nice guy like McCain or Willard Romney. He is willing to take on the lying media, the pretentious pundits, and the demagoguing Democrats. He may lose, but he won’t be beaten.

  5. Trump will win the Presidency,Conrad Black says so. At this point I agree, the media can’t stop him. A shakeup is needed in US politics and Trump is the one to do it.

  6. I for one am quite shocked at how openly the media is interfering in this election. They used to be sort of subtle about it.

  7. The media are powerless against Trump, he has rendered them impotent, babbling fools. This election is for the people to decide, they’re tired of the status quo, bullshit isn’t working.

  8. I could never support Trump on any grounds other than the fact that for the first time we have a conservative (well, not really) politician who does not cave to the media and fights back with the same ugly tactics our opponents use.
Is that something to be proud of? No. But after watching pathetic conservative leaders fight with both hands tied behind their backs against opponents who will use any tactic, will break the law, with the collusion of the media, I have to say that it’s a bit gratify to see how Trump responds.
I think it will all end in tears though…

  9. to destroy the current bullsh*t that passes for political leadership is the most important thing that one could support. Once this troop of clowns (both GOP and dems) are kick away from the trough maybe some one can start a rebuild. Oh, and hopefully a 3rd and 4th party get started. Bible thumpers learn why they have a church, and leftie discover mental hospitals.
as far as the rest of Trump goes, h’s heads about most of the rest of the pols, and that is not praising the fool but denigration of the rest

  10. My main worry about Trump winning, and he will win, is that the socialist/demoncratic opposition will not quietly and civilly leave. They may and most likely will start a real insurrection and conflict with the new administration.

  11. Wow, I agree, how dare Trump and his security not be perfectly Politically Correct stooges and just bend to the protesters’ will! I mean, really, how dare they get frustrated at the constant disruption of their rallies and take action? Especially when they followed up by saying those mean words!
BTW, if any of those protesters were black, I hope the media is performing due diligence by lining up a fresh group of talking heads to scream RACIST!! at Trump. (sarc knob torn off)

  12. Mojo and Liz J, I agree that the media used to be more subtle, at least in the US. In Canada the media comes right out into the open with their support of the Liberals.
The biggest surprise for me has been the blatant anti-Trump attitude of most personalities on FoxNews. This political race will get even more down and dirty before the dust settles.

  13. Accusations of fascism is standard progressive campaigning. Harper was a fascist who was going to take the Canadian government over by force. These people never have to answer for this slander. Sanders gets a complete ‘pass’ on his communist philosophy.
The anybody but Trump GOP people will have to gather around one candidate and that is likely Cruz. I do not see Cruz as a general election candidate who can get enough of a vote out. In the end I think the GOP has to make peace with Trump and run him for POTUS. The power of the president is actually less than that of Canada’s PM. IMHO the conclusion will be that Paul Ryan can deal with Trump in a GOP dominated House.

  14. Yeah … I really miss John McCain and his “Republican” campaign. If he were running again, he would be praising Hillary’s decades of public service and insisting how well he could work with the Democrats in Congress. He would speak admiringly of her sophisticated understanding of Internet technology. He would be embracing the Pope’s call for building more bridges (over the Rio Grande) to facilitate the creation of Mexi-merica. Yes, of course WE will pay for the bridges ! I really miss his lectures about all the job descriptions that I JUST WON’T DO (including, evidently, all the ones I DID as a youth). Yeah, we really NEED McCain and Romney to get us poor confused simpleton Republicans back on track … don’t we ?

  15. Obviously some have not received the memo. When lefties forcibly interrupt, bar access, or intimidate, they are “speaking truth to power” and “expressing their grievances”. When conservatives respond with any similar tactics (shutting down the lefties in the same way the lefties were attempting to shut conservatives down) it is fascist bullying. I am sure the media will set us all straight.
Denis at 8:17 – my thoughts exactly. I fear the country would become ungovernable. When denied power (amid reports of dead voters, 110% voter turnout) conservatives have grumbled, but acquiesced. I doubt the other side will have the same manners, even if Trump wins handily. The all-out media blitz is already on, and will help the rioters feel justified in whatever they do. The schism is already present – is the best solution for the US heartlands to join Ab, Sask and parts of BC to form a more homogeneous country, not under the heel of PC masters from the coasts?

  16. I smile as I view CBC and CTV and their hissy fits. They continually cover the American presidential scene. For a reason only known to them,Conrad Black appeared with Paul Martin. Conrad Black gave a measured and reassuring statement that the election of Donald Trump would work out alright.
It seems to me that the Canadian media television wise have an obsession. Sort of like shades of 1984 by George Orwell. The continuing cry of “Goldstein, Goldstein, Goldstein. (Just my observation here.)

  17. Just watched Trump snigger at Romney.
Fox is going all in, funny how the critics they put up seem to lack listening comprehension.
Notice the refusal to pan the cameras around onto the “protesters”, gee you would not want any viewer to actually see how many people have turned out on 24 hours notice.
Poor Rubio, every supporter from the ranks of congress and the senate just reinforce; Rubio=Establishment.
    The accusations that Trump =Conman.
That Trump is fooling the voters.
These speakers are actually accusing the Trump Voter.
“Oi you gullible fools.. you must vote for us, your natural masters.”
Once again the Greedy Old Parasites are dissing their own voters.
    Thats gonna work real well.
The parasites are frantic, their host has them identified.
Now correct me if I am wrong, but did any of these professional parasites CINO/RINOs call Obama a Conman, fraud or a man of zero accomplishment?

  18. The Republicans should realize that their best chance at the Presidency is Trump, and rally to support him to the White House. If they can’t [or won’t] understand this, then they’re not fit to govern.

  19. I am appreciating Conrad Black’s comments on Trump. He has an insider view. Many of Trump’s crtics are either responding out of their own crony self-interest, or out of hystera which is completely unwarranted. Time for cooler heads to prevail. I don’t think Trump is a phoney,he has some good ideas and he is about the only one who could beat Hillary.

  20. End in tears? Let us hope. I expect that the left, even in Canada, would lose an all-out confrontation. The US desperately needs a Semaine Sanglante, a Bloody Week, which was so beneficial to France.
During the Semaine Sanglante, French conservatives grown tired of French radicals and their never-ending attempts at revolution, killed a large number of them. I see that the current estimate is 20,000, though the low estimate is only 7,000. In any event, the waters of the Seine literally ran with their blood at one point.
The leftists eventually grew back – it is hard to eradicate an infection completely – and made a significant contribution to the shattering of the French armed forces by the Wehrmacht in May 1940.

  21. I, I have a begrudging respect for the Conrad. not even sure where that comes from. some of it because he appears to think things through more than your average public figure.
he paid his dues, took his lumps and carries on. that is to be respected.
wouldn’t want him in public office but his points and position have merit.

  22. As I write, just in from taking the family dog out for her walk, CBC still bashing Trump. I should say giving publicity to those who bash Trump.
I had said the television media would face a void, when Stephen Harper left office. Every day previously it was Harper, Harper and more Harper. Taking side swipes at him of course.
Now they have Trump to bash.
Our tax dollars at work, interfering in an American election.

  23. Jeepers creepers, doesn’t anyone have a memory extending more than a decade or two?
    “The Untouchables”, 1987
    Elliott Ness – Kevin Costner
    [Policeman] Malone – Sean Connery
Malone: You said you wanted to get Capone. Do you really wanna get him? You see what I’m saying is, what are you prepared to do?
    Ness: Anything within the law.
Malone: And *then* what are you prepared to do? If you open the can on these worms you must be prepared to go all the way. Because they’re not gonna give up the fight, until one of you is dead.
Ness: I want to get Capone! I don’t know how to do it.
Malone: You wanna know how to get Capone? They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. *That’s* the *Chicago* way! And that’s how you get Capone. Now do you want to do that? Are you ready to do that? I’m offering you a deal. Do you want this deal?
Ness: I have sworn to capture this man with all legal powers at my disposal and I will do so.
Malone: Well, the Lord hates a coward.
[jabs Ness with his hand, and Ness shakes it]
Malone: Do you know what a blood oath is, Mr. Ness?
    Ness: Yes.
Malone: Good, ’cause you just took one.
