35 Replies to “The Sound Of Settled Science”

  1. Now that they’ve convinced everybody, they don’t need scientists anymore, right?

  2. “Scientists” acting like politicians versus “scientists” acting like philosopher kings. May they all become unemployed. Today’s over-politicized bureaucracies is another good reason why scientific research and education should be privatized.

  3. “We’ve only seen the beginning of climate change. We don’t know what the heck is waiting for us,” he said.
It is the Soup kitchen line! When you declare that the science is settled…You are done.. Why keep flogging a dead horse…. unless you are all liars…

  4. The science is settled, and if you disagree then you’re some sort of flat-earther holocaust-denying science hater, until it threatens my paycheck, then the science is totally unsettled!
The billions sunk into the climate change scam would probably be better spent on a hunt for manbearpig.

  5. They don’t seem to care about all the coal miners they put out of work.
Do they care about the oil patch workers they put out of work?
How about all the ignorant people they are scaring?
Kids think they will die because the planet is going up in flames.
And they worry about their jobs?

  6. It is Management 101: Never use the same group, that claims there is a problem, to fix their claimed problem. Adapting to Climate change needs new eyes & ideas.. they will challenge the possible incompetence & fraud of the former group.

  7. A global warming “scientist” rhetorically asked:
Who is he to declare that climate change is answered?
You did, enjoy the cooling career.

  8. My Australian Carbon Credit Valentines Gift just lost 2 dollars per pound,
    It’s almost worthless..
    The Gift of TerraPass
    $5.95 per 1,000 lbs…
Share sustainability with someone you care about. Every gift comes with a certificate and personalized e-card.

Not to worry, at least its cheaper than chocolate..

  9. if only there was a rational mind among them. I get sick of the BS that passes as thought when it comes to the climate. we cannot control it. we can keep our water and air clean. we can prevent top soil depletion. we cannot control the climate of the planet.

  10. “It’s like shutting down the Australian cricket team, saying we need a lacrosse team, and spending three decades investing in that.”
Yes indeed. Successful industry is the cricket team that has been shut down; $Billions wasted on the AGW lacrosse team.

  11. And unless you know how the climate is changing, how do you adapt to it?
They have been beating us over the head for twenty year that the problem is GLOBAL WARMING
So what they saying now …. that it might climate wetting or climate drying or more likely climate cooling … if any thing it’s likely that there is cooling with the low sun activity we have at this time.
The believers are all delusional, but there is a lot of money in delusions.

  12. It has never been about global warming or climate change. If you recall from the thread about Maurice Strong some time back, all along it has been about controlling people and the reduction of the standard of living in western countries. Reducing the standard of living for all westerners except for those who are more equal than others.

  13. Now that 350 climate scientists have lost their jobs,
Maybe some Whistle-blowers will step forward and tell us the real truth about the AGW scam ??
Were the monies went, and to whom the monies went ??

I know we can get you Amnesty, and into a witness protection program..

  14. Everyone’s got their own agenda in CAGW. CAGW scientists want eternal funding, politicians want more tax money, corporations (including oil) want cronyism, traders want hot air markets, progressive activists want to use it to justify every goal they’ve dreamed up over the last 50 years. The only people unconcerned, verified but numerous country and international polls, are regular citizens.
Only a bit of CAGW has anything to do with traditional science – hypothesis, observations, research studies, replication, addressing skeptics with data. It’s post-normal science – social justice conclusions are first, then verified by computer models, any discrepancies between actual observations and models edited out with adjustments to current and past data, hide methods, demonize skeptics, ass kiss politicians.
There should be middle ground but political polarization has severely limited the discussion. Research into cutting edge energy tech for a long term solution is one. Adapting to change is another – drought/flood reservoirs, nuclear energy, hurricane protection, not subsidizing or insuring coastal residential development, etc. These Ideas were part of a long dormant “no regrets” policy. The bulk of the money would go towards direct solutions and the rest to energy research. Much better than the current one that prioritizes transferring wealth from the 99% to the 1% in business and governments. It suprises me that energy poverty for many, obscene riches for the well connected is what SJWs are advocating.

  15. YES, solar activity is the thing.
Not my subject but I’ve developed a couple shortcut rejoinders to the climatechangists.
What happened to that 1 mile thick slab of ice over Edmonton 12,000 years ago?
…… and, my more recent tack ….
What other factors, other than human activity, figure in climate change?
We will have noted by now that humans are allegedly 100% responsible.
    The sun 0 %. Other factors 0%.
That’s all you need to know,
You need know nothing of science to conclude that it’s a vicious commie hoax.
A good understanding of ‘public choice’ economics helps!

  16. The large face in the centre looks like Elizabeth May!
CSIRO is a fairly good scientific organisation. It will be better now that some of the rot is being cut out.

  17. Ha. I also like F-OFF, Friends Of Fossil Fuels. People may think they hate them but our high standard of living is dependent on oil, gas, petrochemicals, fertilizer and other by products.

  18. If you can’t notice how climate is changing, the changes must be small; why bother to do anything about it? In Canada, furnace maintenance is a must; after all, the normal yearly changes in climate are much much greater than those maintained by some to occur from “climate change.”

  19. Let’s hurry up and destroy the best energy delivery system the world has ever known because the oceans may be rising at the incredible rate of almost 3 mm per year, if that is even measurable:
–Sea level rise has been estimated to be on average between +2.6 millimetres (0.10 in) and 2.9 millimetres (0.11 in) per year ± 0.4 millimetres (0.016 in) since 1993.–
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_level_rise

  20. With lying, thieving scoundrels like Larry Marshall around, it is too bad lynch mobs are no longer fashionable.

  21. As the Cult of Calamitous Climate loses its market, expect a whole bunch more of these “useful Idiots” to be cast aside.
They should be grateful at least our statists will give them a golden handshake and a pension, rather than a quick painful death.
The long Glibberring Climb Down has begun,
    ! Declare victory.
    2 Disband the useful tools.
3 Blame the tools for the mess.

  22. This will NEVER happen in America. Why ? Because our “Universities” have been churning-out hundreds of thousands of graduates with “Environmental Science” degrees, with minors in “Government”. Where else will all these kids be employed ? They haven’t really learned anything substantial. Their knowledge is limited to a one-sided political-science brainwashing. They don’t REALLY know anything about the environment, except to regurgitate “the science is settled”. If they aren’t hired by the government, they will NEVER pay-back their $ 100K in student loans

  23. We know there’s climate change, but we don’t know by how much, except for a super accurate models and faked, I mean adjusted surface measurements, or when the oceans caused it which wasn’t really part of the settled science though. Our certainty is directly proportional with statism, and action equal to the maximum tax and government control that can be fleeced from the sheep. Our policies are inversely proportional to honesty, actual science and of course, common sense. That’s why the existential threat of climate change is both imminent and not going to happen for 100 years, thus requiring the invoking of the precautionary principle and not having to explain the 20 year pause in temperatures. The length of observation is only relevant when supporting CAGW. Listen to us, we’re scientists, like Al Gore.
Future speech from PM Trudeau. “We must take immediate action on stopping pipelines, I mean battling climate change, especially given our negligible GHG contribution, it will take a lot more taxes, oh sorry carbon pricing, to make that not negligible eh? No? You need to be shouted down, what’s with this reality stuff? How does that make my selfies remain cool so I don’t have to make decisions, especially when I have Ralph and the former leader of ZimBobRae to do it for me?”
This is serious, 2015 was the hottest year on record, according to the made up surface measurement that can actually change the past, according to the averages of disparate global thermometers, always rounded upward, for one day, then one year, then plotted on a graph.
The scientific certainty. How’s that relevant? It’s 36%? So Mr PM you’re 36% sure your right, that explains the public interest in paying more taxes. No? He has a better number – 39%, it gives the Grits complete power of every aspect of Canadian life but also meant PM Harper had no legal right to govern. That’s what we meant by “change.”
Harper knew too well the zero chances of economic success of taxing, borrowing and building wind turbines (that’s why he had to go) while the oil “stays in the ground,” except where its tax revenues are required for renewable (aka propped up by taxes, not even close to viable) fuels subsidies, then you can have a little bit – but no pipeline for you.
If a single km of Canada East pipeline is laid before the next federal election It’ll be a shock to me. An environmental review of “emissions” of pipelines compared to rail and truck should take five seconds because the answer is so obvious. But it may cause more production (the Obama Keystone gambit), so we have to take a few years and hundreds of millions of shrinking taxpayer dollars to stop it, I mean make sure it’s got the proper social license and levels of corporate, but not government accountability.
Unless Bombardier gets involved that is.

  24. Trudoh plans to govern like Barack, speak in platitudes and don’t make a decision, you might pee off a liberal group. He added more rules for the pipelines to delay. Has he asked bumbbardiere and the auto sector for the upstream, downstream sideways GHG emissions of their products and first and third [metis] nations approval for their carbon spewing outputs. Justin wants to spend deficits to spur the economy. We had a premier in Saskatchewan that did that when we had 2 successive bad crops and low oil prices. Grant is still railed on by the regressives but it did keep some of the young people from moving to God’s country to the west. Here we have a 16 billion dollar infrastructure project shovel ready being dithered on that would create jobs and taxes for the feds and provinces but wouldn’t cost my children and grandchildren a dime. Where is common sense. He does listen to protesters who are funded by OPEC and Russia to delay a worthwhile project. I actually thought of voting for him (10 seconds)

  25. Maybe these 350 climate scientists can find positions with 350.org, one of the biggest, best funded climate change organizations in the world. 188 countries! Maybe if each of them took two impoverished scientists….

  26. “The billions sunk into the climate change scam would probably be better spent on a hunt for manbearpig.”
Actually they could spend a small fraction of it on arms and decent pay for the Kurdish peshmerga and get some results that almost everyone could cheer.

  27. Really? CSIRO had 350 wankers pulling their puds on the taxpayer dime?
Are all Aussies now standing on Ayers rock because the ocean got raised so much?
