1. As I said earlier, kenji, I’m a mere philistine among the masses. I do like strong colours, however. I’m an old fart too so you may not be surprised that my personal sax god is Stan Getz who characterized himself as “just a melody player”. Going back further, Charlie Parker and Coleman Hawkins. To me it’s how the horn sounds in their hands more than how much they can manipulate it.
   Tell you what, J, I’ll get hold of some Brecker and see if I can find my way past the finger exercises.

2. I was just giving you some stick … no harm or insult intended. We all understand that music (as with all art ) is subjective. I am more of a Hard Bop Jazz fan who loves the complex rhythms, melodies, and time signatures.
   BTW … The guest sax player on the Steely Dan Dr. Wu solo is Phil Woods. He was actually married to Charlie Parker’s widow ! How’s THAT for dedication to your craft ! You marry the wife of greatest sax player in History ! Amazing.
