“Mild manner little terriers, these loyal pets are transformed into the hound of the Baskervilles,”

Terriers doing what terriers do best – what they were bred for.
Not to steal the thunder of terriers, but Chihuahuas are great vermin killers.
When I was 9 yrs old, an acquaintance of mine had a Chihuahua and this time period was during a great mouse plague in southern Alberta in the early ’70s.
We three fellows and my friend’s Chihuahua went out after school and between school and the dinner call the Chihuahua found and killed 88 mice, mostly along the railroad tracks near our home base.
It was about a 30-40 minute period of time, but that dog just massacred them like he was a killing machine.
When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
Great idea, just hope the dogs don’t catch a disease.
Good fun!
I live in China Town in Toronto and have been able to stomp two to death.
I know some places if anybody has a terrier they’d like to work…
How can you not just LOVE Mike Rowe ? Not to mention a badass Wire Hair Terrier ?
It appears as though certain elements in NYC are thriving (and multiplying) under Mayor DeBlasio
Hmmm.
I wonder if the German Shepard might not perform much the same function in Cologne?
They even have a commmie rat running the city… wonder how many terriers that would take?
I believe chihuahuas were bred for eating like chickens
Small Dead Animals, The Movie.
The rats overplayed their hand on their March to Alberta. They killed Napoleon Poulin’s puppy. By the early 50’s Alberta hired him to exterminate rats and help establish a program to keep the province rat free. http://www.poulins.ca/about-us
I watched an episode of Duck Dynasty where Sy had a large poodle as a hunting companion and the rest if the hunting party laughed at him. It turned out that poodle was putting everyone else’s labs to shame. That poodle was like a OCD laser on those ducks. It even grabbed an unshot landed duck LOL. It looked all pretty and coifed, but by the end of that episode the other guys were seriously considering getting one, once they got past how they looked riding shotgun in the truck LOL.
Har.. poodles were actually first bred to be water gun dogs.. however the idiots just couldn’t resist giving them poofie, hair cuts..
One of those dogs looked a lot like a German pinscher (the midsize Dobie, and my boyhood dog). They’re death on rodents. Not coincidentally, the smooth-coated relatives of Kate’s schnauzers.
The two Bedlingtons (the white ones looking a bit like poodles) are no surprise either, and I thought I saw a Border terrier as well. Cats are amateurs by comparison.
I have a Border Terrier at home. I swear, she can be the laziest, suckiest, puppy-dog-eyed dog you’ve seen, but if she gets a hint of a small animal nearby she goes glassy-eyed.
My Ma gave her a fairly realistic toy squirrel for Christmas a few years back, complete with squeaker. It lasted all of 5 minutes before it was deconstructed into it’s constituent pieces. The squeaker added to the whole thing; it sounded like it was dying so she just got more riled up, we could barely get it away from her to get her to calm down. Anything stuffed has to be made of kevlar or she destroys them.
There’s many a vid on you tube of the ratting. There’s even one of a Border Terrier that’s followed a groundhog up a tree, although I wouldn’t want my dog anywhere near a groundhog.
Wanna take those puppies down to DC and surround the Senate?
My scottie can move like lightening when she sees a mouse or other vermin. *ppof* – one second she is across the room and the next millisecond she’s got a disembowelled mouse in her jaws on the other side of the room. Pounce, shake… it’s over for the critter. It’s also fascinating to watch her stalk them when she knows they are there – she can smell them but not see them. A show to behold!
Well, let’s see. We have four long coated chihuahuas and I haven’t seen any sign of a mouse (except for our alpha female who is named Souris). Must be working.
I have a chiweenie (half daschund, half chihuahua). She would go through a brick wall if she thought there was a mouse on the other side. She managed to catch a squirrel on Monday, first time that I know of for that.

Wot, no trigger warning for the snowflakes?
I thought terriers were essentially ratting dogs. Check it out:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWRsnYscv30
I was cheering for the dachshund.
