In tonight’s tips music George Jones and Melba Montgomery harmonize beautifully on a song about Montgomery’s home state of Alabama.

  2. In a comment at the Globe and Mail re Wente’s recent column, I drew attention to Trudeau’s remark that we are the first “post nationalist” state” He states: “there is no core identity, no mainstream in Canada,” he told The New York Times Magazine. “There are shared values – openness, respect, compassion, willingness to work hard, to be there for each other, to search for equality and justice. Those qualities are what make us the first post national state.”
Really?? We are the “FIRST POST NATIONAL STATE??” I have great concerns about the Trudeau government handing over Canadian sovereignty to the globalists. The Trudeau quote pretty much confirms that that is exactly what is happening.
The Globe for whatever reason decided not to post my comment. I am disgusted. The Globe clearly does not stand behind principles of free speech. (My comments are ALWAYS on topic and respectful.) We have been sold down the river, folks (as the expression goes). The Globe and much of the MSM are onside. In years to come, I think the Harper government will be perceived as having taken the last heroic stand for Canadian sovereignty. Good-bye Canada. I am not being facetious or hyperbolic. That is exactly what the new Liberal government portends. As for the Globe — they are o.k. with that. Hopefully Canadians will not forget.

  3. I too noticed this idea of Canada as a blank slate that Trudeau just expressed. Nobody seems to have picked up on it perhaps because they were still digesting his weeping over the aboriginals fate and giving up on any transparency of the fate of federal funds given to Indian bands.
It reminds me of Obama’s denial of American exceptionalism.
According to Justin Canada is wonderful because it accepts all the different paths in the world. In other words all cultures are equal and Canada is just a giant sponge.
Liberals boast about their love for Canada all the time as I have said, but they don’t really love anything about Canada except this giant squishiness.

  4. AGW Kills.
“… Longyearbyen, the archipelago’s remote capital where coal-mining families and polar bears live side by side.”
    …-
“Fatal avalanche buries houses in Norway’s Arctic Svalbard archipelago”
“The avalanche, in which one person died and nine were injured, struck the town of Longyearbyen where coal-mining families and polar bears live side-by-side”

  5. Watch for the Canadian Museum of History get turned back into The Museum of Civilization. What is particularly notable is that this idea if “no identity” is not intended to pertain to Quebec where you can bet there is a lot of money and effort going into preserving the Francophone cultural identity. The giant sponge is just for the ROC and Anglohone heritage. PM’s from Quebec have always treated Anglohone Canada with disdain. Now we are “post-national”. Canadians should be livid.

  6. A big Merry Christmas to our very own Canadian Media for all their help in reliving Christmas Past!
Our watchdog media is on the job and in Vogue with the PM.
They’re Gooing over his first Christmas, Gaaing over his Hotness and most of all, triggering the gag reflex in sentient Canadians.
Yes, it’s the 90’s all over again.
That nasty Conservative Opposition is holding back the country while the Liberals are making Canada, Canada again? And happily Ad-Scamming away.
Meanwhile, Mr. I’m Going To Do Politics Differently, eerily like every government in the history of dishonest governments, declares the books were worse than expected.
His PMness then declared his election promise of annual $10 Billion deficits was a moving target(guess which direction) and besides, who cares, budgets balance themselves.
On a roll, the prevaricating, soon to be Pirouetter then decided to showcase his non partisan appointment election promise by annointing former Ontariowe Liberal Finance Minister Dwight Duncan to Czar or Vice Emperor or some such.
    YES.
    That Canada is back.
Say one thing, do another and hear the applause. The newsy Canadian Cloisettes are on the case!
In the spirit of the season, let us hope our sorely afflicted Canadian Media uses the holidays to reflect, to heal, and in the immortal words of Bob Newhart, “ Just stop it!”

“Berlin (AFP) – The Islamic State group may have stolen “tens of thousands”

no biggie… i’m sure justin and jockstrap john mccallum have got this covered.

  8. Tried to email Rona Ambrose to raise the alarm about globalist Canada-has-no-core-identity Trudeau. But since she is moving her office, no one is taking e-mails it seems. I know the holidays are almost upon is, but I find this strange that you can’t contact the leadership of the opposition, not that I expect much from her or the other youngish spokespersons who want to appear all for multiculturalism to the point of not fighting against thus globalism threat.
Any suggestions who among the Conservative spokespersons would care? I even tried emailing Rex Murphy but like most media and media types these days no email or comments to access. I just find what Trudeau said outrageous.

  9. This identity confusion may have serious consequences. It maybe is because the Majority of politician’s are 1st generation Canadians.. They don’t have any history as Canadians
At the Democratic debate “Bernie Sanders” said he was a 1st Generation American, Obama is a default 1st generation American & the WH is full of them… It is worth a hard look because they can’t understand the real America

  10. Good to pursue this. Canadian “identity” has always been an important issues for our country. To suddenly declare that Canadians have no core identity is genuinely shocking. It also suggests that nothing short required of immigrants by way of adapting to our culture. Is this what Canadians think? I would try Rona Ambrose again. I would also alert Ezra Levant or someone at Rebel Media. I hope MSM seeks more information about Trudeau’s thinking on this. It is an important issue.

  11. And — can you imagine the great outcry if Stephen Harper said something like that? The media is so unbalanced in this country, it is truly demoralizing and arguably dangerous.

  12. If you read the New York Times article from Dec. 13th I believe, Trudeau says as a youngster he must have visited 100 countries with his father. And he seems to have had his moment on the road to Damascus (well Bangladesh) when he saw some poor man on a bicycle and realized there were millions of people in the world like this, individuals with their own different cultures.
Have to say as an air force brat I travelled a lot too, but I never concluded that Canada was a tabula rasa or forgot about our glorious military history. Au contraire. Of course I had a very different father and mother, dieu Merci.

  13. Trudeau thinks a Canadian is someone who got here last week. And an “old-stock” Canadian is someone who got here last year.
