Is everyone nuts? Is the therapy dog thing because people have become so effing anti-social that they can only develop relationships with 4 legged beasts? Maybe that’s the price we pay for being so selfish, that we no longer have anything to offer our own kind and whatever relationships we have are all take and no give.
The therapy dog thing is because of the cult of victimhood that has grown apace since WWII. Postwar generations have grown up in such ease and plenty that they can’t bear comparison to their ancestors who endured the Great Depression and then went off to save civilization from totalitarianism. So they have to make up problems to be “suffering” from and revise history to discredit the achievements of the past.
I have a dog, and the chore of taking him out for exercise is good for me, too, but for today’s students of “Studies” studying is so stressful they don’t just need a dog, they need to call it a “therapy” dog.
These are the same people who when they are older will have cats as their only friends.
I also have a therapy dog. He chews on my toes at every opportunity, and even though I had the vet take his balls, still manages to find the urge to hump his stuffed toy(better that than my leg) causing me no end of mirth and amusement;)
Today’s children, with a few exceptions, seem more suited to the feline species. Most are pussies. Perhaps it’s something in the water.
I have to post this here,

I don’t see what the problem is. They call them therapy dogs to indicate they have been screened to make sure they are healthy and well behaved. A lot of the students are living away from home and miss their dogs. The dogs are stationed in a central place for a few hours once a week and people come buy and pat them. What is the big deal? Is this site anti-dog?
Not anti-dog
more anti-leftist…
I gave Kate this “h/t” knowing there would be a response regarding the “snowflake/safe space” university crowd but I wanted to see if people saw the other side of the equation. These students are getting out of their own little bubble and doing something pleasant for the dogs and actually socializing with each other. No angry protests!
Regarding TimR’s comment, therapy dogs have no special privileges as far as I know (and I checked with St. John Ambulance to confirm that).
“…A lot of the students are living away from home and miss their dogs. …” So they could go to the local animal shelter and volunteer to take a dog for a for a walk. And keep quiet about it. The thing of note about this story was as I said, someone has to a make a story about it, and the story is that the students have it so hard they need therapeutic aid to cope with student life.
Maybe a lot of them just aren’t up to it. Maybe they should have careers as dog walkers.
This article is from my home town. Trust me… left coast.. insanity rules on the Island.
The problem is that these so-called “therapy” dogs are not screened. We just came back from the Big Island and there were “therapy” dogs everywhere in Kona. Most of these “therapy” dogs were worse behaved than the strays.
Obama sees meaty puppies as lunch.
not so.
I used to do this when I lived in Burlington until I stumbled on the fact that if the unfamiliar shelter dog bit someone, I, the dog walker, would be completely liable.
I just could. not. take. that. chance. sorry!! unknown waters!!

I don’t see how college students patting dogs has anything to do with politics at all. However bringing dogs on campus probably angers or frightens some of the muslim students. This is a plus as far as I’m concerned. Maybe they could bring in therapy pigs too.
I clicked on the “Big Meaty fast growing puppies”….and on his side bar there is a link to something very very interesting: https://unclemeat.wordpress.com/2008/02/16/soharwardy-complaintant-attacked-in-calgary-home/ KATE..?? Can you follow up on this one..? first I hear of it. Love to know what our Calgary Police are doing about it if ANYTHING…??
Sounds to me like some local MUSLIMES are attempting to bully witnesses and complainants from testifying…WTF.?? That needs to be STOMPED right quick..!!

And of course as “emotional support” animals, they have to be allowed on airplanes. Which because of the iron law of unintended consequences leads to this:
