I wish this sort of thing shocked me. It doesn’t.
Elections Canada offered a sole sourced contract worth nearly $1 million to the Assembly of First Nations to engage in voter outreach even as key members of the organization made highly partisan statements calling for the defeat of the Conservative government.
Read the whole thing here and then share it far and wide. You know the media party won’t touch this.
Elections Canada has a history of going after Conservatives and looking the other way with everyone else. Remember all the extensions they gave to Liberal leadership candidates? What about deciding not to go after left wing groups that violated third party spending limits? It never happened. They won’t act on this either. Unless they are forced to.

“They won’t act on this either. Unless they are forced to.”
Liberals are in power now. EC will not be forced to do anything it doesn’t want to do for at least the next 8 years. They will once again apply extremely strict scrutiny towards Conservatives and their backers, and very loose interpretations of the rules towards Liberals & their lackeys. Well… “once again” is a stretch. They’ve never stopped interpreting the Elections Act thusly, have they?
Looks like the liberals must have been short on cash during the election campaign. Buying votes ain’t cheap.
This is exactly the kind of bias that the Fair Elections Act was intending to address. Elections Canada must be seen as fair and balanced by ALL Canadians. As a Conservative, I feel they are biased against my party. Canadians broadly should realize that this is a real problem. We do not have fair elections in Canada.
On top of the above, I believe there were a range of anti-Conservative groups who were funded at least in part with foreign money. LeadNow would be a good place to start an investigation of this. Where is the Council of Canadians when there are real issues at stake?

Elections Canada has long had a dubious relationship with Native voters. Consider this linked story from 2006, how the Desnethe- Missinippi- Churchill River riding broke every rule in the book to elect a Liberal candidate, Well over 100% of registered citizens voted,31/2 hours after polls closed an extra 240 people voted, 100% Liberal; plus they were offered a prize of a flat screen TV to cast a ballot.
These actions were raised in a Parliamentary hearing and EC officials saw nothing, did nothing and offered no explanation for their actions.
EC seems to have made voter participation of FN a priority, but I fail to see why public money should be spent on this. It they choose to forego the voting experience,so be it.
Re: Buying votes ain’t cheap. It is when you can get someone to bet on your election; then do it with other people’s (government) money. See Mr Trudeau’s emphasis on catering to the First Nation’s leadership mafia since his election, culminating (so far) in his speech to them this morning (Tues 8 Dec). Like his taxation promises, or his absolutely dis-honest firearms promises, this is another example of the Obama-like, divisive ‘wedges’ that the neo-liberals have generated to mobilize particular special interests into their camp. And like the other two examples (there are hundreds more in the raft of such in their so-called agenda (one can hardly wait for the implementation of his promise to eliminate the stigma that prevents men-who-have-sex-with-men from donating blood…), the Orwellian language stands out – “respect” apparently translates into allowing the First Nations leadership to again hide its miss-management of the considerable largess that they administer (some on behalf of their constituencies as treaty entitlements; more than anyone seems to appreciate as income from a host of sources – usually rent collecting or special arrangements like gambling or tax-free sales; but much more as the chosen funnel for government programs due all Canadian citizens that just happen to be delivered through AAND and the First Nations governance structure).
How eliminating the first steps towards a level of public accountability that every other Canadian beneficiary of a trust or taxpayer expects, deserves and has a right too is “respect” is the first of many questions to be asked here.
Makes one wonder whether someone will start up a new “LeadNow”….this time with the other pronunciation. Just sayin’
The transition from democracy to Kleptocracy is often unnoticed.
Once the takers discover they can vote themselves a chunk of the makers returns, or even better a chunk of the proceeds before profit, the theft never ends.
Union civil service? Check.
Activist Just-Us minions? Also union? Check.
All agencies tasked with protecting citizen rights and property, in the hands of kleptocracy? Check.
Reform is possible?
How much of the mob now lives at the expense of the rest?
48%? This being the average persons tax level.
4 in ten?
How do you count?
Government 3 levels, Quango’s, NGOs (fully funded by govt),Utility monopolies…
My own belief is any more than 1 in 10 is destructive to social order, why work if you can score the freeloader position.
When corrupt bureaucrats are in power, they make no pretence of partiality, in fact their attitude is that this is how government is supposed to work.
Deal with any branch of workers comp for an example of totally unaccountable bureaucracy.
They likely won’t come down on our little brown brothers in the native community … That would be racism.
Even if they did .., you know … Nothing will come of it, but a bunch do abo lawyers will get new cars n shit.
Professional Indians and other state-sponsored parasites know where their bread is buttered the best. Conservatives can’t be relied upon to be as enthusiastic sugar daddies to these fine upstanding 1/16 or better racial purity pimps.
Expect the empty hair to cancel all First Nations accountability and expect the inquiry to blow 40 million to find out 80% of aboriginal pain is self inflicted. The musk ox in the room
Elections Canada has always targeted voter groups with low turnout. The groups with low turnout are the low-information groups. Low-information voters tend to vote Liberal/NDP. Voters who are highly informed and highly engaged, like older voters and business owners, they tend to vote Conservative. It is not Elections Canada’s job to pick and choose groups to target. In fact, they should not be in the business of increasing turnout at all, since it cannot be done in a non-partisan manner. No matter how you do it, one or more of the parties will benefit at the expense of the other parties.
I sometimes wonder if we should all vote NDP and get the whole thing over with (socialism).

prime minister care bear just announced a major aboriginal reach-around… i mean outreach… but, wait a minute…
“At least 80 aboriginal chiefs and band councillors made more money last year than Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and at least 200 were paid more than their provincial premiers, according to newly released federal figures.”

scf: That is exactly the problem, while voter turnout is a desirable thing, EC has made it the only thing. From the 2011 election we learned that EC had informed poll workers to give the benefit of doubt to undocumented voters, rather than turn them away. I would say their priorities are 180 degrees out, number 1 has to be ensuring that only eligible voters vote, and only once. The old Soviet regimes reported turnouts of 90%, but they all voted for the same party.
No one can claim it is difficult to vote in Canada, what with advance polls, time of work, etc. I would expect this is especially true on Native Reserves. I resent any monies targeted at particular groups to get them to participate.
I picked a fine time to go senile.
🙁
Right, I remember hearing all about this from the mediocracy during the election. Self-interested scum. Conservatives have nothing to be forgiven for and a slight ideological tweak will sweep out the statists at every opportunity. Darn right we’re going to defend Stephen Harper’s record. Contrast that with what we have now – deer in the headlights, throw money to our buddies, con everybody on climate change and other nonsense. There’s not enough southern ON voters to sustain that through the coming economic dislocations. Proposing to govern based on reality rather than the false narratives of statism, is what’s needed now, a kind of enlightened Trump, who most certainly sits at the realist school.

You know, where the truth comes up against BS.
The idealists went all in and backed the faux-liberals so we ended up with a socialist state and they got to keep their phony baloney jobs. Americans seem poised to correct their same error (unless you believe Clinton or Sanders are going to be the next POTUS) while we have four years of predictable blundering with the mediocracy and the left having made sure we weren’t inoculated from the economic fallout and their propaganda therefore fails the voters’ trust.
We don’t have to. A vote for the Liberals this time was a vote for International Socialism. The Libs are pursuing the globalist socialist agenda — we will be adopting all of those UN declared rights, transferring our money to the third world, getting rid of any remnants of national identity (such as the Queens picture) and Christianity, implementing government controls over our lives. Agenda 21 is the order of the day. I am pretty sure the NDP would not have been much worse — except that they had agreed not to go into debt to pursue their agenda.
“Americans seem poised to correct their same error (unless you believe Clinton or Sanders are going to be the next POTUS)”
The American electorate was stupid enough to elect Obama TWICE. You really think they’re not stupid enough to elect Clinton too?
I have no faith in the voters of western civilization any more.
They should not be allowed to produce get-out-the-vote campaigns and particulalry aimed at the young, who nearly always vote left.
I don’t either but have decided to remain hopeful until the end. The GOP’s biggest problem is not the voters, it’s each other.
I hope to be holding a cold beverage, sitting on my deck – when the story breaks that some wrong socialist lacky that helped with the “Great Voter Fraud of 2015” goes public and breaks the story how the last election was fully rigged.
When you think that the conservatives lost this election by 200,000 votes, and the widespread discrepancies across the country, surely one person will come forward and open the floodgates? Here’s hope’n.
.Elections Canada was created by the liberal party and continues to be a wholly owned subsidiary of the liberal party. Do not ecpect anything to come of this report.
Not surprised. On the Sunshine Coast the chief of the S…nation (can’t spell it) ordered his people to vote Liberal and made no bones about it. The story was revealed in the local rag…Coast Reporter…which is probably owned by the natives. This community was just a small subset of the brutal election tactics against the Conservatives…not pleasant.
