Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella

“…except SDA was also prepared to completely ignore a story about 14 dead and 17 wounded in a public mass shooting in San Bernadino (because it didn’t fit your narrative) until police ID’d the suspects as being Muslim, …”
Well, if you can a cite a few examples of SDA ignoring pubic mass shootings where muslims weren’t involved, I’d say you have a point.
So go ahead…it’s your move.
This also crushes the other narrative – they keep saying there have been no muslim terror attacks on US soil since 911. I know, they’re ignoring Fort Hood among others, but this one will be harder to deny. Although they may stick to workplace violence.
When I heard on Wednesday reports there was a Christmas party being held, I jumped to the conclusion Muslims were upset about that. How wrong I was. It was really because pork was being served.
allow me to make a prediction.
in the next 20 years there will be between 2,000 and 5,000 deaths in the continental USA directly attributable to jihad. and about half the proportion in Canuckistan, or between 100 and 250.
whut’s the game plan o wise white house? 24 sussex drive? any contingency plans? still ‘solving’ 1 problem (‘refugees’) by creating thousands more are you?
“Because we were waiting for the facts first BEFORE commenting, ya stunted leftard.”
To be more specific, you were waiting for one particular fact only: are the suspects Muslim?
If no, then not of interest.
If yes, then proceed to SDA for ritualistic Islamophobic catharsis.
On CNN now,10AM Atlantic Time, they are talking about the Christmas Party issue now as I write. Also mentioned the unusual situation that a man and wife were two of the shooters.
Obama: “This is not normal”.
Well, Champ, normal is what you promised to “change”, remember? This is the new normal. We know it as “worse”. It’s what we know to expect when You throw open our borders to all comers, invite all manner of savage in, then tell us it will be all for our own good. It’s what we see happening across Europe because Merkel is a monstrous fool. It’s what we expect when You release felons from prison, not because they’re innocent or have served their time, but because Equality! It’s what We expect when You smuggle “Syrian refugees” into the country because You, our government, are just that generous with our lives and property. It’s what We expect when a pathologically idiotic You declare that the best way to defeat islamo-fascist terrorism is to go to a meeting in Paris about the climate. It is what we expect when every alleged thought that runs through that fetid, malicious skull of yours begins and ends with the question “Does my political ass look fat in this?”
This is not normal, you monstrous coward, and it’s on Your malignant head. It’s Your legacy, Champ. It will be the main exhibit in you presidential library for time immemorial. Nice work, boy genius.
PS: Sid Vicious, quoting Middle Class Housewife:
” ‘Cool long rifle, Syed.’ Gold. Pure golden, goldeny GOLD.”
Agreed!
I believe it was a Christmas Party – gettit?
Hey, kt. Ref your comments:
“…except SDA was also prepared to completely ignore a story about 14 dead and 17 wounded in a public mass shooting in San Bernadino (because it didn’t fit your narrative) until police ID’d the suspects as being Muslim, …”
and,
“To be more specific, you were waiting for one particular fact only: are the suspects Muslim? If no, then not of interest. If yes, then proceed to SDA for ritualistic Islamophobic catharsis.”
If you can a cite a few examples of SDA ignoring pubic mass shootings where muslims weren’t involved, I’d say you have a point. If you can’t do it, then your comments are baseless and you’ve lost.
Aha, I knew it! He was an Environmental Health Specialist. It all fits together now!
We adults adjust our beliefs to the facts. What do you do, a$$hole?
I notice, in my GTA corner of the world, that this mass shooting is getting non-headline status. It’s getting mixed down under immigant stories, like how you mix chocolate chips into dough until you can tell they are there, but are mostly hidden. There is a strong analogy there.
Awww, look, it was a nice harmless Muslim family that shot up a facility for disabled people. Little baby dropped off at harmless Muslim grandmas house.
“Well, if you can a cite a few examples of SDA ignoring pubic mass shootings where muslims weren’t involved, I’d say you have a point. So go ahead…it’s your move.”
William Hudson, Palestine, TX, Nov 16, 2015. Allen Lawrence Scarsella, Minneapolis, MN, Nov 23, 2015. Robert Lewis Dear, Colorado Springs, CO, six days ago.
That’s just November. It goes on and on. I don’t recall much interest around here either in the 2014 Isla Vista rampage (though an SDA post that day about a possum running around a race track garnered 4 comments), or the 2013 shooting in Hialeah, FL (6 killed, plus gunman), or the 2011 shooting at the Carson City IHOP (4 dead, including 3 uniformed National Guardsmen)…
Riggghhhhtttttt……………and you weren’t, of course, praying so very fervently that it WASN’T a Muslim.
If yes, then not of interest.
If no, then proceed to SDA for ritualistic racccccissssstttttt catharsis.
Good Points. Touche!
So, what exactly is the argument supposed to be? That all news is to be treated equally, and any inequality in the treatment is politically motivated, racist, or some other cultural crime? In a world increasingly torn apart by violent islamo-fascism, and made worse by the fools who run things, no event is more newsworthy than another? Is that it?
Let’s hear your defense of that, kt.
LOL No it isn’t. This isn’t a zero-sum thing where because attention wasn’t paid to one incident for whatever reason (did’t know, was ignorant of, etc), that knowing on this particular occasion and waiting for the facts to come out before commenting presents some sort of “hypocrisy” for failing to do likewise with regard to the other stories, for whatever reason.. But to this stunted leftard, we are to endure THEIR faux outraged, pious condemnation?!
LOL Get the f*** out of here.
Atta boy, Harkov.
Pork being served? I’m sure Secretary of State Kerry will conclude that was a reasonable rationale for the attack.
BINGO.
I’m confident that at least 14 people died in traffic accidents on Wednesday.
Shame on Kate for not posting on those complete with the now ritualistic road side shrines.
And of course statistically you’re at far greater risk of getting killed on a crosswalk than being murdered by Islamic jihadists.
So, what’s the deal with this selective islamophobiic coverage.
Nope. I called him – and he countered fair and square.
However, it doesn’t change a thing. It’s Kate’s blog and she can damned well post (or not post) what she wants to. And besides, we all know that there is a much better chance of getting wiped out by violent muzzie-wugs than by a pro-lifer.
Yeah, Kate can post whatever she wants; why even mention a given as if anyone believed otherwise?
Again, no he/she didn’t “counter”. All he/she ended up doing was babbling erroneously about some sort of moral equivalence as if not referring or even knowing about the former incident that they mentioned gave us absolutely no moral quarter to comment on the latter. You can legitimize their babble all you want, and allow the retarded left to call the ball for you. Frankly, I’m sick and tired of these left-wing idiots believing that they can just baldly decide the narrative, so I won’t. Period. But you go ahead Jamie, fill your boots.
I’ll call it for what it is – leftard bullshit.
Don’t know why you’re taking it so personally – kt was replying to me, not you or “us”.
I got this funny feeling that guys like kt visit these blogs for the express purpose of getting their jollies…and the only reason they continue to do it is because you provide them with their entertainment by rising to their provocations.
Jamie: “I called him – and he countered fair and square”
His response was neither fair, nor square, nor even a genuine response. His accusation was that Kate and the rest of us are racist, etc., for paying more attention to murders by islamists than by others. His response to the challenge from Harkov was to cite murders that Kate did not cover. But the presumption of his accusation, as I pointed out, above, is that all murders are equal and so deserve equal concern and coverage.
But this is plainly false. Paying more attention to the greater threat is not racist, or “islamophobic”, or counterproductive, as Obama insists. It is rational!
kt,
There is no such thing as objective media or blogging. This site is Islamophobic. I am openly so. I would argue that Islamophobia is not irrational fear when it is a fact that fundamentally, Islam is the enemy of western civilization and or a potential threat to every other non-Islamic person on the planet. Don’t take my word for it, read the words of their prophet, particularly in his later years. Every daily act of Jihad is just reinforcement. Twenty years from now this will be mainstream thought in the west as civil war will be omnipresent.
Time to CANCEL your office Christmas party out of “respect” for the hundreds of thousands of Muslim “refugees” that Obama has flooded into America. Goodbye Judeo-Christian culture … your civilization has killed you. You were too good, too nice, too forgiving, and far too tolerant
Please don’t use the enemy’s language.
Don’t describe yourself as ‘islamophobiic’. Or Kate. Or this site.
A phobia is an irrational fear. Your’s is rational, as is mine, as is Kate’s.
The word is a CAIR invention modelled after the very successful ‘homophobia’.
In the latter case there’s no fear at all: rational or irrational.
Just disgust with the radical homosexual agenda, not homosexuals.
Linguistic precision please.
Quite right, Meno.
Exactly, rational adults recognize murderous intent.
Bit hard not to, when they loudly proclaim their intent and advertise their savagery when able to get lose amongst helpless people.
It takes real will power, such as Kt, to avoid observing evil and insanity for what it proudly is.
Islamorealist?
Or just Realist?
Funny how the hysterical always mistake politeness and civil address as signs of fear.
“it is a fact that fundamentally, Islam is the enemy of western civilization and or a potential threat to every other non-Islamic person on the planet.”
For the sake of the argument, let’s assume that’s true. What do you propose should be done about the 1,053,945 people in Canada who self-identified as being Muslim (in the 2011 census)?
Are they not, in your eyes, “the enemy of western civilization” and “a potential threat to every other non-Islamic” Canadian?
No wishy-washy answers, either. You’re claiming that they (and/or the religion of which they are followers) — not radicals, not fundamentalist, not terrorists, but “Islam” itself — are an enemy and a threat to your very existence. So what specifically should be done?
Robert, I must confess to having the same impulse, that some slight (Christmas, serving pork) was their pretext for the attack. But is was certainly not spontaneous. There’s obvious evidence of detailed planning. I think an attack was inevitable, perhaps even more lethal, perish the thought. This insult, unless of course contrived, may have led to a ramping up of attack plans; but it was coming anyway.
The gun control argument bemuses me. Does France have gun control? Are we to take away long guns because some idiot terrorist uses them? There is something to the talk of a gun culture, but Harry Reid and others insult our intelligence with their own brand of stupidity when they tweet whether Americans are more scared of Islamist terrorists or the NRA? Such an irresponsible segue.
Our current progressive leadership seems unable to connect with reality – certainly in denial of the idea someone would use their religion as a pretext for violence, except Christians apparently.
Looks like another workplace violence incident, like Fort Hood eh? Nothing to see here, move along; it’s just the JV team again. Gun control will take care of that one. Oh, our ally Turkey is buying oil from ISIS to assist in their planning for global holy war. Nope, don’t see the problem. Since global warming causes terrorism it has to be our first priority. See how simple that is. Soaking the rich makes us better off. A video was responsible for the Benghazi attack, with protest coinciding with an AQ attack. What are the odds of that happening again? Sensitive emails are fine on Unclas servers and it’s quite alright to withhold information from the State Department. My favourite it’s OK to get the EPA to sue the State Dept over an improper pipeline conclusion. Of course we must all remember when the state takes from productive to bribe their political constituencies, economic growth and jobs are created from their “investment.” Bizarro world indeed.
“His response was neither fair, nor square, nor even a genuine response…His response to the challenge from Harkov was to cite murders that Kate did not cover. ”
nick, he replied completely to MY challenge. I asked him to provide incidents of mass public shootings by non-muslims which SDA had not covered – he did. I called his bluff, but he had some cards.
I hate to break into your debate, gentlemen — but it appears that you’ve forgotten where you are.
If I reported on every Islamic-linked mass murder, this blog would be called Jihad Watch, and there’d be no room for other content.
If I reported breaking news on every mass and not-so-mass shooting, this would be CNN and I”d be making a few million a year as a network news anchor.
This is neither.
However, I will concede that these explanations may fall short of satisfactory. So, if you wish, you may file a formal complaint to the higher-ups:
COMPLAINT PROCEDURE
Thank you.
100% agreement from me. EVERY single Muslim in America is a SUSPECT. ANY one of them can “become” “radicalized” at any time. Whether it be by importing a HATE-filled “fiancé” or by sprouting a woody from ISIS YouTube videos. It is FAR past time that we started sorting-out the BLATENT Islamic radicals in our midst. ANY Muslim even remotely associated with HATE-preachers, HATE-Mosques, FUNDAMENTALIST-Mosques, or any electronic JIHADISM need to be jailed, deported, or otherwise EXILED from our society and our shores NOW !! No more phony “phobia” labels. Start acting in the interest of all the innocents who will be murdered if we don’t. And if you DON’T BELIEVE that the NUKE is coming to our shores (if it is not here already) … you are being dangerously naïve. EVERY Muslim must be accounted-for and put on a watch list. Further … ALL Muslims in America must be limited to ONE child (like China) to ensure the containment of their malignant religion in our continent.

Easy answer. Outlaw its very existence in your country, have any visitor carrying any paraphernalia turned away at the borders at the very least remove all traces of it from them, remove all traces from the country and system of anything other than the legal destruction of any reference, site(historical or not) edifice, symbol or methods of communicating its existence.
OR pretty much exactly how Saudi Arabia manages the Jewish/Christian/Buddhist / Zoroastrian etc problems.
And as you may or may not know, that country is pretty much a trading partner of every country in the world, its leaders and citizens have no travel restrictions worldwide, its finance is pretty much welcomed everywhere(there are some notable exceptions).
Thats just a no wishy washy response that seems to work well for the Saudis, and yes they did have Jewish, Christian and Zoroastrian societies in the past. Not now though.
kt
First, this problem is still less severe in Canada as 3% of the population being Muslim is not yet at a pivotal level. Calgary is getting close. Given the progressive PC dominant culture we “enjoy”, the priority must be to make those aware that now languish in denial of the threat of Islam. Within the context of the progressive welfare state, any definitive solution necessarily involves illiberal measures such as halting or making further Islamic immigration extremely difficult; discrimination by the state, intrusive security measures, etc. Personally, I prefer a state sufficiently shrunken that no such apparatus exists from which Islam can enslave its citizenry and within which private discrimination is legally acceptable. However, I doubt that in addition to most basic libertarian principles, private militias, are acceptable in polite circles. In short, Islam and virtually all other societies wishing to exist in peace must exist as separate entities due to the supremacy doctrine inherent within Islam. The best thing a Canadian Muslim can do is become apostate, not follow their “fundamental” scriptures and rat out Jihadis, or find us sufficiently repugnant to leave.
As for my fellow commenters who object to the use of “Islamophobia”, I thought that I sufficiently qualified its use but we are in agreement on fear of Islam being a rational phenomenon.

Jamie, you asked him the wrong question, issued the wrong challenge. His complaint was not that there are murders that are not mentioned on Kate’s blog. If that had been his complaint, it would have been idiotic, and we would have rightly ignored it. His complaint was that Kate, as we, pay undue attention to murders committed in the name of Allah by murderous islamo-fascists. That is false.
Muslims = Democrats.

American Muslims in 2012 election
“More than 85 percent of American Muslim voters picked President Obama in November 6, 2012 election, according to an exit poll released by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s leading Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization. It may be recalled that a similar CAIR exit poll in 2008 showed that 89 percent of American Muslim voters picked then-candidate Barack Obama. Two percent of respondents said they voted for Sen. John McCain.
The CAIR’s informal survey of more than 650 American Muslim voters indicates that just four percent of respondents cast their ballots for the Republican presidential hopeful, Mitt Romney. The Poll findings indicated that 95.5 of the registered Muslim voters went to the polls on November 6. 85.7 percent cast their ballots to re-elect President Obama while only 4.4 percent of respondents said they voted for Mitt Romney. Just over two percent (2.2) of respondents said they voted for Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson while the same percentage (2.2) voted for Green Party candidate Jill Stein.”
“Don’t he so hard on the stunted leftard, being wrong all the time is what they do. I feel like your picking on a disabled person.”
Yes, but self-inflicted disability shouldn’t count.
