  3. I’ve been watching the coverage on CTV news for about 5 hours.
    They are pushing the ‘gun control’ meme hard.
    Theory #1)
    Someone got upset at a ‘holiday gathering’ and left. This person then recruited two friends who were sitting around heavily armed to join him in an afternoon of mass murder.
    Theory #2)
    Islam. The media is avoiding that.
    But, Obama has said that if it is terrorism, the lack of gun controls made it easier for the ‘possible’ terrorists to kill.
    I disagree, pressure cookers are much easier to buy than guns.

  6. We will not rest until we discover the root causes. Was there music there? Were there Jews there, now or at some previous time? Were there women not wearing niqabs? Was someone being disrespectful of Islam? Did someone draw a picture of Mohammed? Was someone served spaghetti swirled to resemble words from the Koran?
    If the answer to any of these questions is yes, we can be thankful that the shooters showed such compassion and restraint.

    When it is established this was a jihad gone right, all of the above will ignore the facts and continue to blame guns.

    AR-15, and M-16 use small caliber bullets, and unless it hits a major organ the victims will survive.
    Instead of having 14 dead and 17 wounded, it would have been 25 dead and 6 wounded.
    Those in combat know the AK-47, Pump Shotgun Buck Shot, and the 30-06/308 M-14 kill more.

    Fair enough, except SDA was also prepared to completely ignore a story about 14 dead and 17 wounded in a public mass shooting in San Bernadino (because it didn’t fit your narrative) until police ID’d the suspects as being Muslim, and then suddenly you cared.
    Accusing the media/left of hypocrisy would be more powerful if you weren’t so equally hypocritical yourselves.

  44. Two things that struck me over this:
    1. The media coverage was shockingly lackluster and clueless. There was not even the most basic pretence at any “investigative journalism”, just talking heads and looped helicopter footage. At one point, an employee at the Center – an eyewitness – noted that the group which had been attacked had rented the hall for some sort of holiday party. OK, so who were they? Anonymous groups don’t rent halls. No attempt at a follow up, no nothing. If police weren’t releasing details for ongoing security reasons, they should state this upfront. The reporting was all variations on a single theme: somebody shot some people at a centre in California.
    2. I’m get really tired of officials patronizing the public with “the-horse-has-bolted-but-the-barn-door-is-now-closed” reassurances and blandishments about safety and security. You know, 14 people shot dead but it’s fine, folks, because the San Bernardino police, acting with our colleagues in the FBI, AFT, Arizona Fish and Game and local animal control authorities are now doing all we can to make sure you citizens are safe, blah, blah, blah… Please, spare us the bromides and self-congratulatory addresses.
