The article is a great pitch to those who crave to feel good about themselves in their self-centric belives…….mostly the people on the left.
Fuq da left! If it was not for them and islam there would be world peace….almost. humans are sinful we sin all the time and conservatives are no better per se . However conservatives or libertarians or what have you tend to keep to themselves and dont push things on people they generally just want more freedom for everyone if those who disagree dont like it they are free to keep doing things their way. The left want to force you to do things their way because they believe their way is the best way and everyone should just want to do it.
Sorry, that’s like saying we should be thankful for cancer.

Maybe I missed the point, but I thought this was a well-researched and we-written article. Of course, some Leftist idiot is going to disagree but I expected that.
A nice change from outrage du jour but the usual gnashing of teeth ensues.
Kate sometimes I think the commenters don’t read the article. A Hard Sell yes, but living around the 50th parallel N has taught me to appreciate the dilema. I hate the cold long dark winters but without them we would not have the long leisurely warm days of summer with barbeques and beer in shorts and halter tops right up until 10:30 pm. The real “Sunny Ways”. And as we sit and appreciate and wish it were like this all the time I reflect on equatorial climes and say “Can you imagine for a moment living where the sun comes up at 6:00 am and sets at 6:00 pm every single day, month after month, never changing?” Having to fight winter for survival is what made Judeo-Christian civilization so strong, while sub-tropical countries (exception Israel)contributions to the modern world are minimal. So yes I understand the article and can acknowledge that without challenge humanity atrophies. In the comfortable western world those challenges have ceased to exist so Leftists have unconciously erected pseudo-survival challenges for their raison d’etre. Which gives the rest of us something to fight.
