Spending Trudeau’s term blaming him for all that goes wrong might be comforting but has little real value. The issue IMHO is whether the CPC can recreate itself with a message which will be accepted by Canadians. I see little reason to be hopeful.
It does not appear to me that the party of free enterprise even has a business plan. It shut off input from it’s grassroots (customers) and gave direction from above. We will see if that changes. I think not.

Much like Obama, in his mind, he was destined to be leader, anyone who thinks otherwise is personally out to get him, and he will hog all the narcissist glory for himself, blaming others for any perceived faults. Facts will not sway him. The media will shield him from criticism as though their lives depended upon it, as will his party. He will win reelection, perhaps more than once, and will leave office akin to a God among the political left, even as the country measurably declines in numerous ways during every year of his administration.

Lance, I would agree with your sentiment of a one term PM tenure for Trudeau if we didn’t have a statist, interventionist, biased, ignorant and unethical mediocracy controlling the soundbyte outlets for LIVs. But we do. In fact if not for this mediocracy, Trudeau would have been unelectable.
Unless that changes, he stays in power, assuming the CPC again continues their muddled message and assuming Trudeau’s unilateral and reckless rush to import 25k Syrian refugees into Canada doesn’t result directly in an attack.
Should any Islamist attack of the scale of Paris succeed here in Canada, regardless of a direct link to Syrian refugees, his days should be numbered. But it could take that and more, not just regional alienation/polarization or economic decline or even reduced freedom, or even massive fraud and corruption (notice the paucity coverage to the resumption of the Duffy trial, or the recent acquittal of one time Harperite Bruce Carson). The mediocracy have learned their lessons well on the innate patronage and corruption of their masters, and are ready for future peccadillos.
Unless and until Trudeau’s fingerprints are irrefutably on his disastrous handling of the security file, the mediocracy will explain it away along with the usual false narratives that vetting causes terrorism, or people who dislike our values learn to love them and us when they arrive, (conversely we’re the intolerant bigots), or that we can continually and incrementally tax our citizens into the ground for spurious battles against the planet’s climate.
