Y2Kyoto: State Of Anorexia Envirosa

Tar and feathers: remain on standby.

Experts say there is no doubt that the effects of Britain’s headlong rush to decarbonise the economy by boosting renewable sources of energy supply while shutting down coal-fired power stations and failing to build gas-powered ones is set to have a serious impact.

  1. and when a few hundred old or poor people die from the lack of electricity think of the savings in carbon footprint!

  2. The swift reverse evolution from the Carbon age to the Stone age in one generation…Solution results of the walking dead!

  3. Legislated austerity in the midst of plenty -this s stage one of agenda 21 in action – please note that there will be no lack of carbon based comforts for the dominating political class.

  4. Coming soon to Canada?
Both the Liberals and NDP have declared that we need to determine ‘a price on carbon’.

  5. Allow grandpa to die allow your kid to starve as a sacrifice to Gaia just like the pagans did after all the Incas,Aztecs and Myahs did when the sun went eclypes on them

  6. Consider this.
The British were those that started the industrial revolution that brought prosperity into the world unmatched in the history of this planet.
It would seem that we are at the beginning of the repetition of the dark age. You look at all the aspects of the events of the world, the mass invasion of backward looking people getting their way.
As though the Europeans and North America enjoy the masochism of the events, crying for more of the same.
There are those that are opposed, though if they are a majority they are silent so as not to, for heaven’s sake, embarrass and insult the “huddled masses”, masses being the key word, of Africa and the Middle East.
So another era of human journey is coming to an end.
One thing though is certain, the ruling class is not going to be cold, without power, without food, without clean water. They will take care of themselves if they have to kill the rest.
    And kill they will.
Gently, little bit by little bit. You won’t even notice. Untill they come for you.
    Don’t doubt it.
This may disturb sensibilities of some.
Well its paradise in the land of the lotus eaters.
Then the whole cycle will start all over again perhaps in the later part of the 21st century.
It will be better in scale of magnitude, though there are few today that will enjoy it.

  7. While I agree that governments have seriously messed up the reliability and affordability of energy (as government meddling will generally do), I doubt the sda doomsday scenarios are any more likely than catastrophic AGW’s. The UK will muddle through via the usual tools – throw money at the problem and legislate ridiculous solutions. Import expensive power, subsidize conventional power stations, forced industrial rationing (with taxpayer paid compensation), increase carbon pricing (compensate business and subsidize low income citizens).
The electricity model used to be so simple : generation, transmission -> reliable, affordable power. All with ever increasing environmental standards and protection, proven by looking at data on air and water quality. Now: an ever increasing mess of subsidization of inferior products, crony capitalism and energy poverty. Nice job, politicians. Congratulations.
Note: did anyone notice where the carbon taxes are going. Straight to government revenue, not to improve energy systems or reduce other taxes. Revenue neutral…sure, tell me another fairy tale.

  8. In my opinion, the owners of convention power stations who hold out the longest against the green tide will be big winners. People and politicians will be willing to pay damn near any price for electricity in a crisis (man made or politically induced). And that’s probably what it will take to shock people back to their senses and demand a return to a more sensible energy model.

  9. Correction : (natural or politically induced). And by politically induced I mean through incompetence not conspiracy.

  10. We spent a fair amount of time in UK last Winter and the smell of wood smoke was everywhere as they are all using wood and wood pellets as a supplemental heat. Somehow, in their ‘logic’ this is clean.
