Photoblogging: The Blue Angels in SF

The Blue Angels were performing in San Francisco this week, as part of the annual “Fleet Week“. Photographing fast moving objects is both a challenge and a joy.

You can view many more photos of these beautiful planes here. The SF ones begin at #24, with “Blue Angels” written in the sand.

  1. You mean they still allow for the Blue Angeles to appear in San Francisco? I mean i thought the Pansies for Peace did,nt allow the military in their freakhole community hope the invite the Thunderbird next

  2. That same kind of thought crossed my mind as well. The Blue Angels in SF? WTF? Give it some more time and they will. They just haven’t got around to it yet.

  3. I’ve been here nearly a year and met a wide cross section of people. You’d be pleasantly surprised to learn that not everyone is a hipster, not everyone is an SJW, and not everyone is politically correct. Everyone I know absolutely loved having Fleet Week and the Blue Angels in SF!

  4. Robert W, HMCS Calgary was there, did you visit? … they don’t have “a bar” anymore but still…

  5. Nice shot Robert. Thanks.
    Good HDR work too.
Just love it when you can see the pilots inside the planes.
Airshows are one heck of a way to blast off hundreds of shots in a couple of hours. Love it!
My faves at the Lethbridge air show two years ago were the precision parachute guys (and gals??) Neato.

  6. Back when Dianne Feinstein was Mayor of SF, she “banned” the Blue Angels from flying over The City. They flew anyway, year after year. The more she complained, the lower they flew. Thumbing their noses at the Mayor of SF has become a bit of a Navy tradition.

  7. Hi
I enjoyed the pics and have enjoyed the Blue Angels/Thunderbirds since the 50s. I wonder if anyone else noticed that the pictures on the 2nd page show #4 as the 2 seater narrator’s aircraft. Thismust have been shot over 2 days and they had a problem with original #4.

  8. Lets keep the ‘trainers’ for show and get the F35’s for defence. The priority is correct.

  9. I prefer the Blue Angeles or Thuderbirds and Golden Knights over a camp of freakos like Rainbow Family of Living Light
