Suzuki… lives on Vancouver’s elite Point Grey Road, on a double lot, overlooking English Bay, right above the exclusive Kitsilano Yacht Club. The City of Vancouver assesses the land value alone at over $8 million. And that’s just one of Secret Suzuki’s properties.
He has another million-dollar home in Vancouver. And then there’s another home on Quadra Island. That’s three homes right there, if you count the double lot on Point Grey Road as just one property.
But then there’s his large property holdings on Nelson Island. What’s so fascinating about that one is that he co-owns the property with an oil company…
In fairness to Suzuki, he wasn’t talking about himself, he was referring to the non-Suzukis.

As for the gathering of wealth into one’s hands at the expense of others, commies always did that. They never intended to join the proletariat. As Karl Marx often said, “I am not a Marxist”. If he could get money, he did.
But in this, they hoist themselves on their own petard (banner spike). “Jesus supports us”, they often opine. “He said a rich man can never get to heaven”. So let it be written then, that by placing personal wealth ahead of those more in need, Suzuki gives up all hope of a pleasant after life.
And the religious rich view a different prospect. By using their skills to create wealth, they also crate wealth for many others around them. And in gaining wealth, and sharing it, they can gain more, and share more with others, which helps bring them closer to heaven.

I make about 50k plus some cool perks.
In my house we have two refrigerators, two televisions, an electric stove, decent internet speed, etc. After the bills and savings are paid, I have hundreds left over for bourbon and baconators.
Since I am old, I will likely die a rich man. Even if all my savings are gone and I have dementia, I will likely be treated with the same respect and care as any king from not long ago. I think am rich beyond the wildest dreams of most people on the planet.
Meanwhile, there is a guy my age somewhere else in the world who is just as smart as me and who loves his family as much as I do. His granddaughter recently died of malaria. His children cook using dung for fuel.
After that guy has at least one refrigerator, a stove that doesn’t spew carcinogens, a cellphone and a few bucks left over for the local equivalent of bourbon and baconators we can then establish a baseline for how much carbon we can “use”.
We have all been steadily getting richer. We must continue that. Some of the things these alarmists propose are the moral equivalent of human sacrifice.
We must stop getting richer? We must stop capitalism?

So Canada must either shut down an industry or two, or three, or – for the sake of reducing “pollution,” or apply massive costs across the economy; even though we’re a relatively clean nation regarding real not phony pollution. Mulcair has stated the NDP will reduce CO2 emissions 34% below 1990 levels, as soon as 2025 but no later than 2030, from 726 Mt now to 405Mt, total reduction of 44.5%. With what, wind turbines and solar panels? We’ll just have to grow them from 1% to 60%. Sure that’s realistic, after all the green fraud, I mean economy, is the next big new thing. Wrong – it’s an economic parasite that lives off subsidies and green rents, all via the taxpayer.
Yes, that is their plan, well the moderate part I guess, judging by the enviro swashbuckler Notley’s performance thus far. To “prevent” a less than 1/100 degC increase in worldwide temperatures, over the next more than 100 years. What’s Canada’s share of that at 2% of emissions, or is our warming prevented factor too low on a per capita-basis?

Sarcasm alert: Well there you go, there’s nearly 60% available right there. Let’s see ah, O&G and transportation. All done. That’s it. Plus, the O&G cuts will provide a margin of safety too, given even if they were fully shut down, the economy could only decline 7% on that basis. Forever.

Suzuki and his ilk that advocate a much reduced standard of living remind me of the Soviet system, its commissars and apparatchiks. They had their weekend dachas near Leningrad and Moscow, shopped at the GUM store in Moscow or half dozen equivelents elsewhere in the country, and summer vacations at restricted dacha complexes by the Black Sea. Meanwhile the proletariat ate potatoes, cabbage, bread, drank vodka and lined up at the local Torgsin or Kolkhoz markets for scarce consumer goods which had to paid for by foreign currency, gold, silver, and other valuables.
The Russian standard of living has much improved since the collapse of communism, but here in North America the Suzukis want us to be reduced to what the people lived like for seventy years under Soviet communism. A western economy based on windmills, solar panels, punishing carbon taxes and unicorn farts will result in everybody living poorer, except for those that are more equal.

He’s not living on the mainland that doesn’t require using a helicopter or ferry or going by boat as a passenger to get to; he’s living somewhere that requires extra, alot extra, energy to access his house, especially the helicopter part is the point of pointing that out.
Suzuki has talked about a future with much less. About 6 billion less. In 1984 I happened in on a speech he gave where he talked openly about mankind returning to a simple most basic ‘tech free’ agrarian existence. His exact words were that one billion people were all he thought the Earth should bear. So left hanging was what the heck does he propose happens to the rest? He gave his answer indirectly during that sermon: banning modern medicines including antibiotics and the hardships of living without technology would let nature take its’ course. Unmentioned was the extreme competition for survival that would take place between people and cold heartless evil gov’t that would need to exist to enforce his vision. Suzuki is basically a Darwinian – a survival of the fittest believer. There’s no room in his psyche for people who aren’t perfect enough to survive such a challenge. I left Suzuki’s speech sickened. I was a young engineering student back then who believed (and still does) that technology overall improves lives and gives mankind a brighter future. In Suzuki’s speech in retrospect all that was missing were references to blond hair and blue eyes. I’m sure the good Dr. professing Utopia through the ultimate game of “Survivor” involving mass human “cleansing” from Mother Gaia didn’t include himself in such calculations. I would differ with your use of “free enterprise” as the Suzuki brand became known entirely through the public sector, first at UBC, then through Canada’s national disgrace, the CBC. Without those statist dispensers of stolen loot, Suzuki might have had to rely on a clap board on a street corner to sell his version of the sky is falling. However, given today’s culture, the private clones of the CBC and even private educational institutions could very well yield the same success to the brand. Hysteria has always drawn a large market.
The venerable bug Doc needs to lead the way, show us how we can survive in the cold white north while freezing in the dark. How can planes fly, ships sail? How will the health care technologies be used in his dream world? How will help get to remote places when emergencies arise? Is this an idea he and his ilk espouse to cut down the world population?
