22 Replies to “Boehner resigning”

  1. IMO Boehner is emblematic of precisely what is wrong with the current Republican Party. They much more represent Big Government married to Big Business than they do anything connected to small government, liberty loving conservatives.

  2. Agreed! It may be finally dawning on the Insiders that the peasants are restless and that’s why the three leading presidential contenders thus far, Trump, Carson, and Fiorina, have never held political office, and that Trump in particular has been striking a chord.
Boehner, worth about $5 million when I checked, can cry all the way to the bank. The Club Members always leave richer than when they arrived. “Selfless” public service does pay off in D.C.

  3. Can’t see them voting their constituents wishes. They seldom do.
In Canada federal MP’s are beholden to the party. They are not obligated to follow what the folks back home – who voted them in want. That is why each party has a whip. Voters be damned. Lends itself to a corruption of democracy.
Preston Manning recognized this decades ago and talked about the ‘common sense of the common people’ and he tried to change the system to allow MP’s free votes. His ideas were sound but they were not tolerated in Ottawa.

  4. ‘House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi called Boehner’s resignation “seismic for the House” and called it evidence of the far right’s “hijacking” of the Republican Party. And she said the squabble to succeed Boehner will be “more than a distraction” to efforts to resolve the latest funding battle roiling the Hill.’
Of course Boehner was in the left’s pocket, someone they could ‘deal’ with…and in particular with far leftist extremist Nancy gal having a hissy fit over Planned Barrenhood’s funding for more Dr Mengele body parts trading. Follow the money…

  5. In days of old,Boehner would have been tried for treason against the people.
    I miss George Washington.

  6. I guess Nancy will have to drink all alone…He was a surrender monkey whose priorities were not traditionally American… Who was he serving?… Pro abortion… Pro UN…Pro illegal Aliens..
He was the champion RINO jelly roll…
Someone will have to replace him as coordinator of the Catholic charities mass SA immigration….

  7. Appoint Caitlin Jenner, it, would have more resolve than John (soft cock) Bohener ever had against I I I me me me Borack.

  8. Kevin McCarthy will be the next speaker, but not before Boehner commits one last sellout.
Kevin McCarthy. Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

  9. Spineless Jellyfish knows too much. We can only hope he
spends his declining years or months in abject terror of
what those who doubt he will keep silent have in mind for
him if it looks like he will cave if push is coming to shove.

  10. nice to see an democrat posing as a conservative republican finally do something right, no pun intended.

  11. “In Canada federal MP’s are beholden to the party.”
By convention, yes. But it doesn’t have to be that way. An MP, MPP, MLA still retains his seat if he tells his party to stuff it.
It is a sad commentary on our politicians that it happens so infrequently. Rather than take a principled stance, most MPs prefer to wallow in shit that they clearly know is not in the best interest of their constituents or the future of their country. And if and when they do decide to pull the plug, it is usually a desperate act of self-preservation rather than a statement of principles.

  12. The Republican Party elites are going down in flames, and Trump is stoking the fire, and I am enjoying every minute of it.
The current crop of Republicans are the most useless lot of individuals that have come around in a long time, and that includes idiots like Darrell Issa, a man who held more hearings than there are stars in the universe yet achieved *nothing*.
Good riddance Boehner. Please take everyone else with you.

  13. Preston Manning – now there`s a principled man that I have great respect for. As for Harper – well, sorry.

  14. I read through the comments and finally got to yours.
Where did it say that this had anything to do with Manning and Harper?
Oh, a drive-by shooting you say?
