People who hate being called RINO’s, calling Trump a RINO.
They cannot take conservatism, reinvent its meaning, and attach it to whatever cause or character they happen to identify with. Conservatism is a philosophy; it has a history and a core set of principles. It’s been shaped by towering intellectual figures.
Now, I’m no Trump booster, but looking at the success rate of the “electable” establishment candidates over the last 10 years would indicate to me that going along to get along isn’t particularly smart.
Maybe Trump simply is the most electable, mostly conservative there is, because you know what? A CINO Republican is not going to win, either.
It’s really not an issue of ideology at this point. It’s an issue of repercussions. The GOP leadership has taken the “oh, they’ll get over it” position in reference to the true Conservatives out there in America. More and more, Conservatives have felt homeless relative to the GOP. The simple fact of the matter is that Conservatives are more interested in teaching the GOP a lesson right now. Trump is merely a visual aid in that regard. I’ll certainly never vote for the egocentric blowhard. But, here’s the scenario that most true Conservatives in the US are probably going to pursue…There are two, maybe three candidates that approach the Conservative philosophy. If one of those three comes out on top, they’ll be there to vote in the General Election. If it’s a GOP establishment candidate that wins the primary…he’ll get the honor of having the lowest per capita voting turn out in US history.
That’s the soft soap version of what’s going on right now. The hard core position of a good chunk of Conservatives right now is “Burn it all down.” Depending upon how the GOP reacts to this little civics lesson they are receiving, the hard core crew could grow exponentially in the coming months. Either way, the GOP’s cadre of Amnesty supporting, Obamacare condoning parrots haven’t got a prayer of ever sitting at 1600 PA Ave.
So, Lance, it’s really not about candidates right now. It’s about an object lesson in respect, trust and the earning of both.
I just moved back to Texas from Canada. I am Canadian. I have a lot of friends here in Houston who identify as republican but when we have a good chat about politics it’s clear that they are on the centre (or just right of centre) on the political spectrum. They want low taxes, no political interference in their life and good infrastructure, sure there are a few who are social conservatives, but hey, it’s texas, whaddaya gonna do. The other flip side is I don’t think they can see past who the establishment tells them they should vote for. But at least my gardener is only $35 bucks a visit. He does not speak English. His nephew had to translate for my wife.
The GOP has an excellent ally this election – Hillary. At best she is wooden, patently insincere, and downright nasty. The GOP are going to have difficulty throwing this election – not that they aren’t trying.
I’ve wracked my understanding of human nature trying to figure out WTF Trump thinks he’s doing – what’s the motivation? He’s never been particularly patriotic, he sure as hell doesn’t need the money or the headache of dealing with beltline culture, he doesn’t need lobby money, he’s invested in the service industry not Wall Street = so is it just ego?
Who cares – he’s shaking up the GOP oligarchy and threatening to eclipse Hillary –he’s doing so well the HGOP is afraid to frig with him and the Dems are scrambling to turf Hillary for a candidate who can beat him – status quo in panic mode – mission accomplished

Trump is not my first pick, but he’s mussed up the Republican Establishment’s face, and that has endeared him to me somewhat.
He might even give them a fight.
The anchor baby issue:
It is a fact that illegal Aliens entering America & having a baby creates the existing black market economy. Those Illegals never have to become Americans, pay taxes, or worry about deportation. Even if they obtain a Green Card they have no incentive to become a Tax-paying American Citizen. They just exist without responsibility or any incentive and all their children become Americans. The Family unification will allow siblings, Grandmothers, Grandfathers to join them in the USA all entitled to Welfare & Medicaid…..It is a sinkhole that is been gamed.
The criminals among them would avoid citizenship because of the required FBI background & Fingerprinting.
The question is how many of those Illegals, that Reagan (1986) gave Green Cards, became Taxpaying American Citizens…I would guess less than 30% … amnesty does not work.
BTW: I spent 8 years with a legal Green Card before becoming an American citizen.

Have you noticed how Obama has gotten rich, famous, and influential by getting elected POTUS?
Trump is already those 3 things, but becoming POTUS is going to kick all 3 characteristics into overdrive, injected with steroids, and weaponized with a cherry on top.
Being elected to the U.S. Congress/Senate means you get insider stock market information because of being on one committee or another which will guide legislation affecting the market and Trump being Trump, there is no way he would settle for being anything less than President of the Corporation called the United States of America instead of a lowly board member like a Congressman or Senator.
If Trump stands for any issue other than the problem with illegals, coupled with his combativeness with journalists, then I seem to have missed it.
Trump is a single-issue candidate so far, but his combativeness with journalists is merely Trump’s approach to the entire world if it gives him any resistance to anything anytime, which is a trait which many people find so endearing in Obama./
The difference is that the resistance is coming from the people the citizens of america because Obama is doing shady stuff growing gov, taking away individual rights,and attacking america and bowing to americas enemies at every turn.

Trump is apparently “inconsistent” in his views on immigration, apparently having the temerity to state it’s unrealistic for people who’ve lived in the US to “self-deport.” Is the argument Trump would have “mass deportations” of people who have lived, worked and contributed for more than a generation? So Mr Trump isn’t “conservative enough” aka unelectable for POTUS. Trump is mobilizing conservatives and libertarians against the progressive idea that is destroying America. The GOP should jump on board with the populism he has demonstrated; instead they whine about and insult him. If they can’t beat him they should join him. BTW he would crush HRC in a presidential debate, where her handlers couldn’t control the process, though I hear Candy Crowley has volunteered for the job should it become available.
Harper should take a page out of Trump’s book and call the mediocracy on their support for radical statists posing as “moderate.” The NDP is the Labour Party here, which btw Margaret Thatcher abhorred and would roll over in her grave at socialist Mulcair’s attempts to appear moderate by comparing himself to her. If she were alive, he might get a nasty rebuttal. Since she isn’t, Harper must do it.
