  1. In my opinion. I have tried to watch the handicap olympics and honestly, I’d rather watch paint dry. It’s political correctness running wild and all under the heading of not hurting anyones feelings. Almost every event shows sparse audience participation and if you removed family and friends, the stands would be empty. It goes right along with participation medals in all school events, but the end result is no value, and who the hell cares. I expect to get ragged on for this point of view, but there again……who the hell cares.

  2. Why does the mascot have to be a “wheelie”? Why can’t he just be a “cane”? And for that matter, why does he have to have bits whacked off; just give him a spinal cord injury instead.

  3. No peterj. From a parent who had just such a son, I have to agree with you.
It’s all about PC run amok. In all honesty, how can a race/contest be set up fairly between contestants with differing disabilities, and why?

  4. And then there is the special olympics where the least retarded wins. I have seen a couple of locals who competed internationally and you might not have noticed their condition. For the next event, I want to promote white people basketball but that affirmative action must be illegal.

  5. I’ve trained with visually impaired Judoka who are absolute monsters on the mat, and routinely beat sighted opponents at provincial tournaments. There’s definitely skill and athleticism on display at the para pan ams, if you choose to look for it.
