    Still true. Unlike fiat currency which can be devalued due to ‘quantitative easing’, money printing.
    Mt. Gox was not a blockchain or Bitcoin problem, it was unscrupulous people taking advantage of, well yes, suckers.

    Still true. Unlike fiat currency which can be and is continuously devalued through ‘quantitative easing’, otherwise known as ‘money printing’.
    In the case of Mt.Gox the blockchain and Bitcoin were not the problem. Unscrupulous people and, well yes, suckers were.

  8. Hmmmm an alternative currency that can be turned off, manipulated, or destroyed with a switch, an EMP or any other form of electronic or malware vandalism or, something shiny, rather rare, and well known – that one can hold and hide as required…let me think about that…..

  12. amazing how many bought into (pun intended) a currency system that was unregulated and surrounded by a great mystery as to who started it.
    echoes of ronnie raygun et al and the deregulation of the mortgage business in a manner of speaking. at least the aspect of vanishing value…..
    personally I had not a titch of interest (again pun intended) in utilizing this, this, this ummm ‘ghost’.

  13. Most money is just bits in memory somewhere. A collective fantasy with rigid rules.
    The most essential ingredient in currency (cash) is trust. It’s just fancy paper, or cupro-nickel alloy, without that. And that is what Bitcoin has lost. It won’t recover.
