  1. McCarthy, “I don’t actually need the raw data in order to develop science, that’s not how it’s done. … I do not know of what value raw data is to the general public.”

  2. Ahhmm, yeah we use raw data in science to arrive at some conclusions about how some stuff works or has a mathematical relationship.
This is exactly how ‘science is done’; you use raw data to reveal a mathematical relationship of causal or correlation effect.
McCarthy is evidently not a scientist and as such should not be heading up the EPA; she is behaving as an administrative bureaucrat running interference for the administration. Any kid who has passed Science 10 would know this…

  3. It’s Lois Lerner all over again …. These government agencies full of unelected career bureaucrats have become so large, so entrenched, and so smug that ‘we the people’ have no control over them whatsoever.
Maybe when Trump’s done with immigration, he can start in on abolishing the EPA, the IRS, the Dept of Education, etc., etc.

  4. Meh – waddaya expect from the state science commissar.
Bet the new secret science project is some voodoo science concoction to “prove” people who dissent from the American soviet regime are a national health risk.
Can re-education incarceration be far off?

  5. The EPA has carbon dioxide listed as a pollutant in their books. C02 is one of the essential elements of life on Earth.
There is an agenda folks and it is enslavement through globalization. The elites have decided total control of human life on Earth. The monster in the White House is a firm adherent to the “plan”.
If Harper is removed this Fall…It’s also game over Canada.

  6. Redacted data = no data. It’s either public or it doesn’t really exist. If it can’t be peer-reviewed, which means available to anyone and everyone, then for all intents and purposes, it doesn’t exist. No data = no science, just agenda and mythology.

  7. When the girls phys ed teacher takes over science class for a couple days…

  8. The Union of Concerned Scientists is just a handful of political hacks to push its political agenda and Bill Nye is another crack-pot blabbering this Global Warming poppycock like it was the proven truth just like with the late Carl Sagan pushing evolution their in it for the money and the political grand standing

  9. If the EPA revealed the raw data and their methodology then people would realize that they have distorted science to support their ‘mankind is a plague on the planet” ideology. Hopefully in 2016 our neighbours will vote in someone who will clean house at the EPA and perhaps abolish it altogether.

  10. You nailed it! They have zero data to support the science. The only truth she said was they could/would not release what does not exist…. Defund the EPA NOW
The format for science evaluation includes ALL components of data & how that data was obtained. The reaching of a conclusion without the “formal” supporting documentation is fraud.
Formal reporting structure exists for all “legitimate” science.

  11. Unaccountable bureaucrats appointed by an Administration that shares its contempt for the legislative branch. A political operative in charge of the green theocracy.

  12. They’re so worried about the “privacy” of individuals’ data yet cannot secure sensitive information of tens of millions of their own people (OPM). Okaaay……

  13. The EPA relies on climate change papers published on Ashley Madison, so privacy is a big concern. Oh, wait …

  14. “The Union of Concerned Scientists…”
A union of scientists that concerns itself with “science for a healthy planet and safer world” is wholly ideological in purpose. As laudable as the ideals of a healthy planet and safer world might appear, such ideals are not strictly science per se, rather, they represent a statement of belief in science, that is to say, scientism.
As a belief system, scientism deserves no more or less credence than any other “-ism” in the free market of ideas and philosophies.

  15. “I don’t actually need the raw data in order to develop science, that’s not how it’s done. … I do not know of what value raw data is to the general public.”
Imagine trying to use a statement like that to get a new drug approved.

  16. Coincidentally I just started reading CS Lewis’s That Hideous Strengrh the third book of his The Space Trilogy.
It was written just after WW2.
About the totalitarian scientific central planning institute N.I.C.E, one of the character’s says:
It’s almost like we lost the war.
    I went bolt upright.

  17. They have no idea why they believe in the “science” of CAGW, so nothing new here. IOW they have a rational or emotional belief, not a scientific belief, because they don’t understand or care about the science. The State Dept proves the Keystone pipeline is “emissions friendly” so the enviro-zealots at EPA, at the behest of the POTUS, are fighting them in court. I understand John Holdren has been instructed to sue himself so no more comments can be made because the matter is in “litigation.”
Well the taxpayer no longer cares what these watermelons think, they don’t believe them anyway. That’s why interest in climate change and desire to endure more taxation in its name are near the bottom of voter priorities or concerns. Good luck to any politician who tries to use this a cover to increase taxes. Look at the way the premiers, Mulcair & Trudeau are flip-flopping all over the map on an entirely sensible west/east pipeline for Canadian crude.
Wynne, Couillard and the sycophantic Notley tried to provide progressive cover – “well we must think bout the environment & more provincial payoffs while trying to regulate any resource development out of existence” – and they failed. How are they going to convince the federal voter a pipeline with Canadian crude is less environmentally & fiscally sound than foreign-flagged oil tankers full of ME crude on the St Lawrence? Are the narwhals OK with that?
I get the feeling Harper is playing a cunning game of political chess leading up to the election. Either that or he’s the luckiest politician on earth. It’s amazing how those who feel themselves his intellectual and moral superior lose election after election to him.
Right, PR would fix that eh?

  18. The betrayal of trust by these kleptocrats is incredible.
Censor, fines or dismissal are not enough.
    Crucifixion might be reasonable.
Powermad loons is a good description, the punishment must fit the crime.
    Deliberately conspiring to destroy civilization?
These vandals swore an oath, which they have betrayed the intent of, every waking hour of their careers.
These ideologues all have the progressive disease, there is no known cure.
They befoul and corrupt all they touch.
    They are Zombies.
    See how easy it is?
Strip your opponents of their humanity and send the mob in to destroy them… except these bureaucrats stripped themselves of any humanity, humility and decency.. decades ago.

  19. Well, if you want to know how a bridge has been built, the plans are on file somewhere, as are e.g. tests of the concrete, method behind the design of the bridge, etc. etc. There really are no secrets, so if the bridge falls down it is possible to figure out what went wrong, who to sue, etc, etc.

  20. Look what happens when the EPA is run by a bunch of tree huggers/granola munchers

  21. bureaucrats are running every country, even the hardline communist countries. Canada has more laws and regulations on the books that were passed by bureaucrats than parliament.
