It is always remarkable to witness experts not understanding the field in which they are experts; even more remarkable, they still do not recognize the frustration of the masses, despite the unsettling wave elections of 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2014 that vividly affirmed populist movements against both political parties’ establishments.
Americans are just tired of it all. Tired of no one speaking honestly to them, tired of being told they cannot speak honestly.

This sums up the microcosm of modern politics. There are empty-suits like Obama who appeal to bovine masses and the popular press that facilitates him. Everyone else is left in the cold.
Whine, whine, whine, whine. When Sarah Palin came along, people allowed even the most obscene libels against her. Similarly with George W. Bush. And do not think that I am maintaining that either of them were perfect. Neither was. But they are better than the filth that calumniated them. And the attacks on anyone that the MSM designates as a target.
Americans have sown the seeds of their own destruction. They don’t even have the good grace to suffer in silence. I would say, “God damn them to Hell” but it is unnecessary. Rather, “mene, mene, tekel, upharsin”. “Thou hast been weighed in the balance, and found wanting… tonight thy kingdom shall pass to the Persians”. Obama has seen to that!

Politics can be like a mixture of poker and negotiations. In both cases, if the person you are dealing with knows your parameters, you are hooped. Donald Trump has stool samples that could out-bluff and out-negotiate Obama and Kerry.

To start with, if “Washington” had the exact same healthcare insurance plan that the rest of American taxpayers are subject to, they’d begin to understand.
The U.S. Constitution regulates how government is supposed to operate.
The government hasn’t been operating constitutionally for a very long time. There are no budgets, and the debt ceiling is meaningless.
Contrast that with how the rest of America has to live under the weight of a myriad of regulations and “Washington” might begin to understand.
The Attorney General’s Office plus the Supreme Court is acting lawlessly and ruling in a way that promotes ridicule, contempt for the rule of law, and enables lawlessness itself.
I won’t get into the shenanigans of the IRS, EPA, NSA and a number of other federal Alphabet agencies.
The entire government is operating in a state of lawlessness that ‘tired of it’ doesn’t begin to describe.

People are mad at the government, the media, and politicians. Here’s the thing so is Donald trump. He is not faceing the people talking he is faceing the government establishment and talking. He is for making America great again. He is tired of seeing Americans and companies like urged away from America and seeing Americans standing in breadlines so to speak.

Salena Zito is the furthest thing from an idiot. I’ve heard her interviewed many times on John Batchelor’s show. She’s a true reporter and listening to her and reading her words, you’d never know which way she voted. That alone puts her up 95% of “journalists” these days.
Living in the U.S. now, I do believe she’s onto something substantial about average Americans being disgusted by both both political parties. Unfortunately those two parties have the money & power to squash any “third wave” so we’ll be back to the same old, same old which will likely be Hillary Clinton vs. Jeb Bush. That will be a sad state of affairs.

I’ve largely given up getting invested in American (or Canadian) politics. So much of it revolves around bread and circuses, while the barbarians (literal and metaphorical) are pounding on the gate. Electing the right candidate is insufficient; there needs to be a waking up across Western civilization.
Like Cappy, I intend to enjoy the decline. With Trump (and to a certain extent Sanders) on the stage, at least the useless spectacle will be worth watching.
