Why does the new generation fight and win and the old generation continually lose? Because the new generation knows the rules. It isn’t about winning the argument, it’s about collecting scalps and counting the bodies.

No lance. it IS about winning the argument. And the argument was won because the truth was on her opponents side.
More significantly it is that the medium is a very efficient vector for the truth to get out.
Ms. Pao is not “the older generation” she is simply another manager who has no clue how to manage a flat organisation which relies upon the goodwill of volunteers. She really should go and work at MS or Oracle.
Firing a valuable employee is dumb, firing one who was loved by the volunteer mods on about four hours notice is just idiotic. (The possibility that this employee was fired because she let tough questions get through to Jesse Jackson is just a bonus.)
The first rule in fighting the Social Justice Bulliesis that there are no rules. You will be lied about, libeled, and slandered; your reputation will be trashed, your friends and family will be attacked, your employer slandered and threatened. They form a crazed lynch mob and gang up to attack their victims. That is what they do.
Listen, and understand! That Social Justice Mob is out there! It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

Chairman Pao (love that) was only hired because of diversity! The other women at Kliener Perkins hated her because she treated them like crap. Now the flap that sent her packing was because, what for it, she fired a woman. Can’t make it up. She sure has a interesting, er, husband.

Sometime I see a piece like this one where there are acronyms that mean nothing to me and items like ‘reddit’ that I have no idea about …. Then I read some comments to try to get a clue what and whom the piece is about to no avail. Then I am happy. There is some shit that I don’t need to be concerned about even if it is through basic ignorance. A bit of bliss can go along way in the morning.
