So this happened before my very eyes: 70-something white retired professor asks his Carribean, black, 36-year-old part-time housekeeper (who, for added political correctness value, is also a lesbian) what she thinks of the Chinese community (I have no recollection of how this came up). She replied that she doesn’t think of them as really Canadian. They seem very Chinese to her.
Old white prof somewhat amused but basically incredulous: “I can’t believe a young black woman could say such a thing!”
Poor lefties. They do ‘ave an ‘ell of a time.

I’ve looked at several videos on the ”top ten” fighters in the world. Rarely do they show the F-35. The F-18 Hornet is still number 2-3, the top is almost always the F-22 Raptor.
The F-35 is slow, but it does have stealth qualities. The single engine is a disadvantage for long range missions. If I was a fighter pilot, speed would be what I would look for. When you’re outnumbered, you can always get out of there!!
I think we should build our own fighter planes and sell them abroad.

Too bad the Plastic Bug Hornet has range and payload issues.
Nice of Hanoi Jane to grace us with her royal presence to inform us we need to do more on climate change. Of course Suzuki was there at Ontario’s Queen’s Park as well…wonder what mode of transport they all took that didn’t spew carbon? Canada being one of the least polluters on the planet they seem to think we should go back to the 1800’s to make up for places that really pollute. Next stop China? Hypocrites of the highest order.

Oh, and BTW, Hanoi Jane Fonda refers to our Oil Sands as “tar sands”,mentions fracking like she knows frack about it, she’s got the buzz words memorized well.

Isn’t LaRonge surrounded by water? This reminds me of the Flintstones, the place is made of stone but they have a fire department. I hope Chief Tammy Cook Sears thanks you and I for the hospitality we taxpayers afford in this time of crisis.
This “story” is very amusing. When it was first published back in JANUARY, it was all about a series of test flights to investigate high angle of attack handling characteristics. It was noted the F-16 had to carry two gas bags to fly out to the test area and fly the program while the F-35 could do it on internal fuel. It was also noted the aircraft involved AF-2 is a test rigged aircraft with old software that controls flight characteristics, not the software onboard production aircraft. And lots more.
Then a notorious military/F-35 hater gets a copy of a single report by a single pilot who goes on about dogfighting that never actually happened – everything that was down that day was staged flight testing and the aviation illiterate world goes ballistic.
If the F-35 was the dog Axe makes it out to be, why would the Air Forces of USA, England, Norway, Australia, Italy, Turkey, teh Netherlands, Japan, Korea and Isreal all select it as their future multi role aircraft? They have access to the performance data, they know what the aircraft is capable of and they chose it over everything else available.
So when the internet goes hellfire on the F-35, take a deep breath and relax. Much is said, more is claimed, little is actually true.
So who ya gonna believe. An Internet hack like David Axe or the officers of the best Air Forces in the world?

“Spanish newspaper: Europe got Muslims for Jews”
“The truth must be told! All European life died in Auschwitz
By Sebastian Vilar Rodrigez*
I walked down the street in Barcelona, and suddenly discovered a terrible truth – Europe died in Auschwitz.
We killed six million Jews and replaced them with 20 million Muslims. In Auschwitz we burned a culture, thought, creativity, and talent. We destroyed the chosen people, truly chosen, because they produced great and wonderful people who changed the world.
The contribution of this people is felt in all areas of life: science, art, international trade, and above all, as the conscience of the world. These are the people we burned. And under the pretense of tolerance, and because we wanted to prove to ourselves that we were cured of the disease of racism, we opened our gates to 20 million Muslims, who brought us stupidity and ignorance, religious extremism and lack of tolerance, crime and poverty due to an unwillingness to work and support their families with pride.”

I agree with you Fred. What the article doesn’t mention is the F35 kills the F16 beyond visual range, which doesn’t even know it’s in the area. Stealth is crucial going forward. Buying new and nearly as expensive fourth generation fighters is folly which would make the helicopter debacle look like sound management. Yes a 2nd engine is good but there’s a price in cost, weight and payload. If it had short stubby wings like the CF104 had I’d be more concerned. As far as “dogfighting” goes, there’s nothing new in smaller aircraft turning tighter than larger ones. The mystique around the F4 Phantom, that it wasn’t a dogfighter was largely due it not originally being equipped with a gun and along with unreliable missiles, which made life murder for the aircrews. Once technology & tactics were corrected and a gun was retrofitted, the F4 acquired kill ratios approaching that of the Sabre in the Korean War, on the order of 10:1. The NVAF refused to engage them after that and the USAF had to sucker them into an ambush in one famous battle when they “pretended” to be F105 Thunderchief fighter bombers, whom the Mig21s could defeat, so came. They destroyed one quarter of the Mig21s in the NVAF in a single day’s engagements. Dogfighting wasn’t an issue that day.
If we don’t buy the F35 then stay away with any other new aircraft coming on line. Get something off the shelf, preferably the FA18 for sovereignty defense. But our ability to act with our allies in collective defense will be effectively nullified. New air defense technology will soon be able to defeat all fourth generation (non-stealth) fighters, with radar evading SAMs and other systems. Yes 5th generation stealth is ultimately defeatable but that hasn’t happened yet and it beats sending our pilots on possible suicide missions with fourth generation aircraft against potentially very potent enemy forces. We’ve already pushed our luck with our CF18s in the Balkan theatre so our capability isn’t far from being obsolete.
It’s not the plane as much as the unachieved potential and undelivered promises. Over a trillion dollars and 9 years of development on a fighter still not ready for deployment. This in a time where technology has advanced and other nations have jumped into the same pool. I doubt if there is anything about the F35 that our potential enemies don’t know and haven’t copied. We have so much invested that it’s impossible to start fresh. It has to be the F35. Other nations didn’t have all their eggs in one basket and have moved on.

peterj. “It’s not the plane as much as the unachieved potential and undelivered promises.” That describes probably every new military technology acquisition. Example: we’re just receiving some of the Cyclones – already obsolete helicopters – to replace the Sea Kings, in spite of the superior though cancelled EH01 being available. IOW, what else is new? If, for whatever reason, the government decides against the CF35, I argue against any purchase of newly built fourth generation fighter like the Saab Grippen. They will cost nearly as much as the CF35, will have similar problems, and will be unsuitable for multi-mission roles as they come off the assembly line. Buy used FA18s, whatever, but pick the CF35 to replace the CF18, or simply wait for sixth generation of pilotless fighters before making a new fighter purchase. Try to make it perfect like it’s detractors/competitors argue it should be, then you would see big time overruns. The media haven’t got the slightest idea about this project so never rely on any of them for information. Look at the mess they and the Grits made of the Sea King replacement. They cancelled the only aircraft capable of all the required missions, we were participating in its worldwide development. Instead, for political reasons they chose a utility aircraft turned into a naval variant, which isn’t even close to the capabilities of the EH101 Merlin, now in service.
Anyway, try Janes if you want to dig further than the self interested/media BS. If we want a perfect fighter that can do it all better than any other, well that’s the F22 Raptor, which is not available for international purchase at this time.

The P of C does have last year’s numbers up.
But, the numbers don’t match.
Hedy Fry, who really likes ‘Akbar’s Own Dining Lounge’, has claimed $ 4,272.73 for hospitality.
Her “Detailed Hospitality Expenditures Report” which is on pages 251 and 252, totals $3,379.50 .
She only missed by about $900 or 25%.
I’ve only skimmed through a few, but it looks like all parties are doing the same.
There are claims for $2.99 at Shoppers, a couple hundred at the LCBO.
Pat Martin dinged us for $284.44 to ‘celebrate a significant event’with 3 guests at the Laughing Oyster Restaurant in Powell River on July 11th 2014.
What significant event?
Why would this event on the coast of B.C. require an MP from Winnipeg ?
There are 640 pages of obscure reasons and expenses.
I’ll provide a link below.
