  1. Today is wing day at my favourite bar. Pound of wings and a pint $9.99. I’ll raise my first glass to those chickens while I’m devouring their wings.

  2. The PETA monument would no doubt be paid for with all the money they saved by killing pets instead of looking after them properly.

  3. I think that memorial is a great idea. It’s boring as hell when you have to stop for a piss-parade on a lonely stretch of prairie with nary a hydrant in sight.

  4. I say give them the memorial – then build some blinds near by and wait to see what it attracts – there’s nothing in the hunting regs that say a decoy can’t look like a memorial.

  5. Excellent idea. Now, can we extend that thinking to other of our favorite groups? Politicians, for example? Use power and their palatial legislatures as flypaper?

  6. Soon PETA will erect a monument to all the flies people elminate each summer and lets not forget all the ants and roaches blown to smiterinies in the RAID tv comercials. Animal rights is a philosephy cuased by a mind effected by drugs and stupidity and a strict vegan diet

  7. This story ties in with EBD’s Reader Tips @ 10:06 PM. This story illustrates some of the insanity that prevails even in Saskatchewan.

  8. I’ve always wondered why PETA seems so obsessed with the welfare of chickens. Maybe it’s because chickens are so much smarter than them. Oddly, I don’t see them protesting over ISIS’ treatment of pigeons. Oh wait, ISIS only cuts the heads off pigeon-fanciers, not the pigeons. So that’s OK, then.

  9. “What if… we, as a society lost our collective minds…”
Too late, happened quite a while ago. Now what if we, as a society, got well and sane again?
No more forced collective. Ah, there is the sweet dream.

  10. What’s the difference between a lawyer and a disobedient chicken?
    The chicken clucks defiance.

  11. There is already a memorial near there where they were supposed to be headed. Lilydale in Wynyard.

  12. I have to agree with PETA, a memorial should be built, and guarded by a member of the Militia 24/7, this time armed with a real, working, loaded rifle just in case!
In about ten years the unemployment problem in this Country would be solved.
btw, does PETA attract anyone BUT those we half-sane people consider complete nutcases?
Roadside memorials for chickens! My f***ing oath.

  13. PETA has got to be one of the most stupidists groups around and still they can count on the usial hollywood idiots(Alec Baldwin,Pamela Anderson)to do stupid ads and junk mail stuff for them

  14. What?? No suggestion of a memorial for all the Pilsner that was spilled during the great beer truck rollover of 1998?

  15. “Oddly, I don’t see them protesting over ISIS’ treatment of pigeons. Oh wait, ISIS only cuts the heads off pigeon-fanciers, not the pigeons. So that’s OK, then.”
Yes literally it is ok with them, and, when I say literally I mean exactly that. Recall that PETA is on the record appealing to Arafat to stop strapping bombs to donkeys and to go back to using suicide bombers instead.

  16. A monument to all the animals PETA has killed in the facility in Fairfax Virginia and all those animals taken from epoples yards or from the side of the road while all the time yammering about Compassion with the usial hollywood idiots(Alec Baldwin,Pamaeta Anderson’etc)as well as the usial suckers to take part in their idiotic protests

  17. They’d better build it out of steel and concrete and then guard it till the concrete is set. In rural Saskatchewan something this stupid wouldn’t survive the first night and I can’t imagine the rural locals co-operating with the RCMP in revealing who may have destroyed it.

  18. I have a proposed design: a simple, solemn cenotaph with the motto, “Just Us Chickens”…
