Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I was a musician in the sixties. Thought I was back in the good old days again. Man! That’s some good $hit!!!
I fondly remember long nights humping freight in the far north, the Northern Lights would fill the windshield flying south out of the high Arctic. On clear, moonless nights I used to turn the cockpit lighting nearly off and marvel at how brilliant the night sky was. Shooting stars raced across it regularly and constellations that were easily visible in southern skies were choked with a background of stars I’d never seen before. It’s been a few years since I’ve had a good show from the Northern Lights…I miss it.
Kate, thanks for the link.

As a resident of northern BC, I’m treated to the northern lights every winter and living far from city lights it’s not unusual for me to stand on the front deck with a hot coffee in -30 to marvel at the wonderful display mother nature provides for free. It’s one of the perks of rural northern living. Add the howling of a few wolves in the distance and it always gives me a sense of appreciation for the difficulties our forefathers had to endure without the modern amenities I take for granted. The same amenities provided by fossil fuels environmentalists are railing against. Funny thing though, you never see a single treehugger up here during the whole 6 months of winter. Seems to be a city thing. And a summer thing. And a Liberal thing.
