  1. A terrible disaster and liberal will blame for refusing to abide by the Kyoto treaty and for refusing to ecept and worship Gaia and for refusing to ecept Obama as their messiah

  2. Don’t call them liberals…they are not….they are bolsheviks brutally seeking power for themselves using socialism as an excuse. The differences between nazis, facists and bolsheviks are usually limited to the colours of the shirts they wear.
I should add democrats to that list.
It was no coincidence that the sudden expansion/rise of environmentalism immediately followed the collapse of the USSR….watermelons….

  3. Been to katmandu great people very nice, all the men wanted me to have their daughters (i was 24 at the time) every meeting we had that was social the men brought there daughters lol. Sorry to hear this sad news thoughts and prayers.
I was there fixing a twin otter.

  4. “Prime Minister Harper should send the Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART).”
They’ll be too busy pulling people out of Yeman and setting them up with apartments in Canada.
On a good note Turdeau will send them some cold weather advice in a brand new CD he and his family produced for $29.99CAD.

  5. Your first instinct is always to blame someone rather than express sympathy or compassion.

  6. Hopefully if the Canadian government sends a billion dollars or more to India for Aid, they will in turn put a little plaque with Canada’s name on their next Space Mission.
Heck I’d even settle for a little Maple leaf scribed on one of their tactical nukes.
Even a hockey stick insignia on one regiment of the worlds third largest armies would do.
If you don’t feel that Canada taxes you enough to send money abroad you should dig deep into those personal saving or RRSP’s and send to India directly.

  7. We see so much tragedy in this world, some of us cope with humor.

In my younger days I climbed some mountains, for the thrill.
Any climber will tell you that death could be just over that next rock.
Those on Mt. Everest are/were aware of the risks involved..

  8. That was hardly humour. It was typical cold hatred that issues from an uncaring soul.
Conservatives and libertarians as a whole are far more compassionate than liberals and greens as a whole in my experience. SW is the exception by his hate centred philosophy.

  9. Maybe we could all take a few seconds to reflect that these are people who have been killed, injured and lost most of the little which they have and who in all likelihood have family or friends who they will never see again. The shock and grief will be palpable for them for the next few weeks as the tremors continue, the constant reminder that they escaped this alive.
There are many worthy and wonderful agencies who have boots on the ground there already, like http://www.samaritanspurse.ca and the http://mcccanada.ca Disaster Relief networks which will put your money directly into the desperately needed emergency supplies without all the overhead of other “organizations”.
This is not the time nor the thread for our criticisms of all things political during this tragedy…
Our help would go a lot further.

  11. Here is some cool data on India’s military:
    A few handpicked favorites:
Annual Defence Budget – 38 Billion USD
    Active Frontline Personnel – 1,325,000
    Active Reserve Personnel – 2,143,000
    Aircraft Carriers – 2
That got me thinking, why doesn’t Canada just rent Aircraft Carriers from India from time to time when we need one? Especially for rescuing the worlds refugees, and bringing them directly to Canada, pass Spain and get out of jail free sort of thing.
That would only seem fair considering our defence budget is less than half of India’s and we give them so much AID money and a free pass for its 1.2 billion citizens into Canada.
With the right amount of extra money we could probably convince India to ship as many refugees as an Aircraft Carrier -or – two could handle directly into Halifax on a weekly basis.

  12. Reading’s not your strong suit, is it, honey?
Spurwing’s first three words? “A terrible disaster”. Now that certainly isn’t an outright expression of sympathy and compassion, but it strongly implies those feelings. And the next part of his sentence isn’t laying blame for the actual earthquake; it’s sarcastically predicting that the usual suspects, i.e. the Left, will find a way to blame this tragedy on “Climate Change” or some other failing on our part. And you know they will.
Me, I’d be curious to know if Mt. Everest and/or any of the other great peaks nearby gained any elevation as a result of this quake, given that the Himalaya mountain chain exists because of the ongoing collision of tectonic plates that gives rise to these periodic quakes.

  13. Another awful natural disaster sure to produce suffering. My condolences to the survivors.
The eruption in Chile and now this.
    Revelations anyone?

  14. Interesting that you should mention India and aircraft carriers. After Trudeau retired the newly refitted HMCS Bonaventure it was sold for scrap in India. Rumour has it that an identical carrier in the Indian fleet was scrapped instead and the Bonaventure served out a long life in the Indian Navy.

    That is indeed interesting,
I was looking at some photo comparisons online and you may very well be right.
The good news is that they retired the old “Viraat”, and happily for Canadians it looks like we’ve raised enough “AID money for poverty” to help them build a new Vikrant-class carrier with an even newer Nuclear Carrier Vishal in the plans for around 2025.

  16. Maybe you should read up on geography, Nepal is not India.
And perhaps your thoughts should focus on helping the victims, and not on scoring some shallow political points.

  17. Will Obama go there or will Kerry go becuase the golf courses are all closed

  18. “Maybe you should read up on geography, Nepal is not India.”
I was thinking the same thing, India was also effected and more importantly Nepal’s neighbor. Get it?
Nepal is a long way from Kanada, look it up on a map.

  19. Years ago while traveling in China I met a nurse from Dallas, Texas. She told me of her experience in Nepal where she volunteered in a Catholic ran hospital. Her service was to be 12 months but it stretched to 20 months. When she went there she was told she would end up with a water born bug in her gut, only a matter of time. She stayed longer than her term because the staff all got sick and there was no one else.
This was a highly educated theatre nurse who knew what she was doing. When she could not function anymore do to the stomach parasite she was flown to Hong Kong. The Catholic church provided medicine and a sympathetic Catholic family took her into their house. She had no family in the USA and had no means of supporting herself. When I met her she was on the mend but it took almost 2 years. The medicine she took was in essence killing her but the hope was it would kill the parasite first, which it did.
A harrowing experience. She told me that a image of Nepal that never left her was a young 12 year old boy she treated who told her his favorite hobby was ‘sleeping’. She said North Americans take clean water for granted, Nepal cannot.

I’ve also spent allot of time (several years worth in multiple visits) in India and have travelled it from North to South, East to West. I’ve only been violently sick (for three days) once from a shrimp salad in a nice Mumbai restaurant. That said I only drank bottled water and had been forced to use my hand-pump travel filter on at least two separate occasions with no issues.
That said your Nurse friend had it exactly right “Americans take clean water for granted”, and I would take it a step further by saying Westerners in general take allot of things for granted.
The biggest wake-up that my decades of travel experience has taught me is how naive and gullible westerners generally are when it comes to the third world.
The worst offenders are the so called Liberal Intellects that believe they are so better placed to decide what’s best for everyone based on their self prognosis of “inherent intellectual superiority’.
The rest of the world rightfully see’s us as gullible chumps, and they use that leverage to every advantage with great success.
