Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Only another 83% to go. C’mon Stephen, git ‘er done!
What do you call it when 17% of CBC employees are looking for work?
A good start.
I have as much sympathy for them as they and their viewers showed when SUNTV went dark. Enjoy your unemployment you parasites.
According to the CBC’s math, that probably means a majority of the staff have been laid off:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ontario-to-sell-off-60-of-hydro-one-allow-beer-in-grocery-stores-1.3035347
Don’t worry about them being out of work, Al-Jazeera will hire them.
Though only after they pass some educational upgrade courses at a madrassah.
Once additional layoffs at CBC reduce it’s operating costs sufficiently.
Then it will be sold to Al-Jazeera(Qatar).
Don’t laugh, It’s not farfetched.
The federal government just sold the Canadian Wheat Board to Saudi Arabia.
Oh my G-d!
Please tell me the survivors are still getting free donuts though, right? Right?
Who gives a Flying F. Lay off the whole lot, lock the doors and use the 1 billion dollars the CBS receives from taxpayers and put the money into Healthcare.
This is bad news.
You must realize that having that many radical leftists safely ensconced in the confines of the CBC is a good thing. Once they escape into the real world who knows what damage they might do.
Strange. Did the HDS comments on the CBC website just lessen by 17%. Hmmmm.
What do you have against al-Jazeera? It is a good and effective news medium, and no more biased (probably less biased) than the CBC.
Pour another billion dollars from taxpayers through the funnel of “health care” into union coffers?
Only jobs liberals want are jobs for illegal aliens
He includes “#cdnpoli” as a dig at PMSH. I read it as an admission they are all fanatic libs.
Didn’t stop them from having an entire TV crew up in the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve (North Vancouver) ALL DAY during the search for the downed plane. Certainly not required, no other network was set up there, who knows how many other assets they had on that in other locations. There were no SAR or other governmental contacts at that site. Great place to hang out though!
The sweet sweet Schadenfreude.
Enjoy your funemployment.
Oh and in case you ask: yes we want fries with that.
Oh no! Now where will we go to watch the odd hockey game? 😛
Well. I’m sure I’ll survive without HNIC. Just like I survive without the CBC.
A good start is right.
“Only jobs liberals want are jobs for illegal aliens”
Well as long as their “non white”, they may be able to compete with some of the illegals down south for jobs.
Otherwise good luck in Canada, there’s already plenty of Latino’s, Muslims and other recently imported “talent” that are priority waitlisted over you.
Yes, thank yourself CBC each and every month you sit unemployed.
wow, 1500 only represents 17% of c b c staff.
They will be dead within hours.
I wouldn’t worry too much.
Judging by the faces I’ve seen on The National, most of those laid off must surely be 18 year-old female co-op students.
If Peter Mansbridge and the senior “talent” and execs simply agreed to take a slight pay cut, they could probably rehire all of them.
The remaining 83 percent can still do a lot of damage.
Not enough. Not fast enough. Why am I still paying for that piece of garbage.
Oh well, six months of pogey, then turdo la doo can hire them back…with a friend.
If trudeau is elected he will not only re-hire them but will increase the staff at CBC by 17 %
I’d bet money on that.
First, if 1500 were laid off this year, and if that really is 17% of the workforce, then they started the year with 8800 employees and are now down to 7300 employees. A fairly large number considering they don’t do that much original programming..
I work in the private sector and have seen or been involved with much larger layoffs, both percentage-wise and in raw numbers.
Anyone who worked at BlackBerry (RIM) or Nortel won’t be too sympathetic..
More!!! FASTER!!! Do it NOW!!!!
I will get really excited when the FINAL 241 are laid off, fired, whatever!!!
The election PR firms for the Liebels and Dippers are now hiring. Skills already developed for these new hires. Their presstitute creds are intact.
Was at a meeting with James Moore and asked about the Russian threat in the artic rather than his support for the CBC while Heritage Minister. Wish I had more opportunity.
Was prepared to be disappointed in Minister Moore but came away thinking he was a pretty sharp thinker.

My comment has fans.
Yes! Thank you for voicing exactly my sentiments before I had a chance to post.
I hear EI pays fairly well these days,so hope the CBC’ers enjoy it for awhile before they latch on to another taxpayer funded boondoggle. I don’t see any of these types going to work in the oil sands.
More layoffs at the CBC? So some GOOD NEWS on this day. They can save some more money by canceling the local CBC supper hour newscasts in all the large urban centres across Canada. What does CBC Toronto at 6pm provide me and others with that we can’t get from the 6pm broadcasts from CTV Toronto, Global Toronto, City News Toronto, and CP24, the sister station of CTV? Absolutely nothing! Jobs for journalists, it would seem. Every CBC supper-hour newscast in every capital across Canada should be chopped from their programming schedule, and the anchors that host them should be laid off as well.
Also, why our taxpayers forced to crowd fund the salary of Eli Glasner, a guy whose job it is to watch movies and give thumbs up or thumbs down? I mean, it’s not like anyone can find a movie review a million other ways, right?
I will give credit to CBC for one thing, though: contracting their weather forecasts to The Weather Network — something that should’ve been done a LONG TIME AGO. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a decision made by them because it made good economic sense but rather being forced to find efficiencies where ever they can.
No doubt there will be a quid pro quo with a payoff for the CBC coming in the very first Lib budget presented — a payoff for the state broadcaster’s dirty work during the election campaign. But the best part will be how the CBC does a 180, going from attacking the present gov’t to being the gatekeepers of the new gov’t, led by Evan Solomon, who will no doubt use his program not to incessantly attack the current gov’t the way he does daily but to redirect that toward the new conservative OPPOSITION, pushing back at the Lib gov’t’s critics with, “what about when you guys were in power?”
The positive news is that with all Trudeau’s weaknesses and deficiencies, no doubt the CBC will be forced to prop him up in terms of PR for the balance of the election, resulting in the pool of low information Canadians shrinking at a more rapid rate. “Let him [Trudeau] sink or swim” or “Let the chips fall where they may” or “May the best man win”… choose any expression you want, it’s not a belief that CBC adopts. For them the stakes are too high. As a result of their dirty work they will get caught, more so than they have to this point.
It didn’t hurt that the Weather Channel has a decided leftist Global Warming alarmist bent as well.
Help me out here, does this 17% include Jain what’s his name?
It is a start, faster please Steve.
You just picked up another fan. 🙂
The CBC and other linear television channels will be replaced (at some point in the near future) with non linear aka internet television, a concept that confuses the CBC because to them technology is too hard to understand. However I just signed up for Sirius internet radio and it appears that the CBC has already gone into the realm of digital radio which just annoys me.
