A lot of what passes for country music these days consists of preening “look-at-me” male models singing overproduced and over-condensed/layered pop-rock with just enough country cliches and references thrown in to justify the moniker. In tonight’s amusements en route to the tips we listen to a kid in his early twenties named Mo Pitney who’s a real musician with a natural feel for the Nashville-style straight-up country music of decades past.
Filmed during a tribute to the late Ray Price, with Price’s family in attendance, here’s Pitney singing a Mel Street song called Borrowed Angel, and a Hank Cochran song that was a hit for Price in 1965 called Don’t You Ever Get Tired of Hurting Me.

    A brief search brings up no link to a favorite of mine, Gene Pitney. Is there any? although the sound is different.
    Big fan of Gene in 70`s & 80`s with many of his albums featuring his hits The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Town Without Pity, Mecca, Twenty-four Hours From Tulsa, etc.
    Reminds me, should dust off those old LP`s one more time.

  9. Ed Driscoll is right about what is going on with the pizzeria. The pizzeria father/daughter owners are today’s Kulaks. The Bolo methodology of demonization never changes. It has become more emboldened and revoltingly more strident because of a constant series of victories over the last few decades. The Gulags are not far behind.
    Thanks for tonight’s music. I am old enough to remember Ray Price. This young fella is good.

  10. The Chinese can not be evil polluters because they are not greedy amoralist pasty-complexioned capitalists. They are people of color and communists to boot. Everyone knows that they are the bestest stewards of the environment. Look at how clean their air and water is.
    Besides, if Greenpeace sends a boatful of environmental protesters, they will just shoot their silly green asses, and charge Greenpeace for the ammo used.

  16. Duffy Day….or Get Harper Day. Did anyone realize Harper runs the Senate, writes the expense cheques for Conservative Senators etc ?

  19. I think we can safely call this a feeding frenzy for all the hungry for anything they think will damage Harper and the Conservative party. Duffy is the star of the show, it’s his trial, but this is not all about him, he’s hoping to damage Harper as well. He’s lucky to have many of the media hacks who treated him like a leper when he accepted a Senate seat from the Conservative PM but who now are fixing to play politics to the hilt with this.
