  1. Oh sure. What could possibly go wrong ? Wife and I were in Mexico and ran into people we knew at home. Wonder if they supply disguises too ? Or maybe even witness protection programs in case your dream lover turns out to be a vindictive wing nut that you managed to displease. Then there’s all the nifty diseases you can drag back to your lair. Hell, if your marriage is that far on the rocks why not just hire a hooker/boy toy and stop pretending it has anything to do with mystery and romance. Why spend money to join a club for losers ? I see you have a option to pretend you’re single in the introduction box. Yup…..that’ll do it. Discreet single….oooh yea. What could possibly go wrong ?

  7. You know it is only a matter of time until someone hacks that site, and gets all the information.
    Or maybe they already have and are quietly blackmailing the “clients” already?
    If they do not get greedy, they could really clean up by nicking a lot of people for just a few bucks each month. Imagine if they could extort $100.00 from one thousand people per month? That’s $1.2 Million per year. How many cheaters would risk divorce, disgrace and losing your kids over $100/month? I know I wouldn’t trust any “cheating” website with MY information.

  9. If I’m not mistaken, the founder of that site is from Toronto. He didn’t invent the concept of cheating on your spouse, but there must be a demand for the unusual service he provides. Does the site encourage unfaithfulness, or simply accommodate those that would stray anyway? Who knows, but there must be an awful lot of lonely, miserable people in the world that would be so desperate as to participate in this world of deceit. The question is, should one be upset at someone making a living at it? I would suggest that divorce lawyers are every bit morally challenged.

  17. Hans, I am going to be charitable here and assume that you posted this with tongue in cheek to see how many Christians here are actually awake and/or paying attention.
    The Didache is, of course, one of the many apocryphal books which were not accepted in the canon of the New Testament because it didn’t meet the criteria used by apostolic fathers to determine canon. It is quite clever in using wording from accepted canon, but in a subtly revised (I am tempted to say perverted) context that twists the original concept into something different.
    Nothing beats familiarity with the true Gospels.

It was a tiny bit ironic to watch Mo Pitney in the Reader Tips, posted exactly one minute before this one about adultery, singing about his ‘borrowed angel’ who belongs to someone else and wears another man’s ring. He does have the right voice for old-timey country music though. I don’t often listen to country music, especially since I left Saskatchewan for the left coast years ago, although I have liked Alan Jackson’s music when I heard him on the odd occasion.
    The tragedy of the human condition often come through loud and clear in country music. For some reason I looked up Mel Street who wrote Borrowed Angel. He suffered from clinical depression and alcoholism, and committed suicide by a self-inflicted gunshot wound on October 21, 1978, his 43rd birthday.

  20. Oh, and Christian Pilgrim, you should consider showing a little more respect to the Didache. No, it isn’t Holy Writ, but it was never considered fraudulent or heretical, either. The early church considered it appropriate Christian literature of manifest wisdom. It has rather gone out of fashion, as such things risk doing. But I don’t believe that any major branch of Christianity has ever denounced it. Am I wrong in this?

  21. The Didache were rejected for the agreed upon canon of Scripture, but were widely circulated in both eastern and western churches. St. Athanasius excluded them from the canon but recommended them for further reading and reflection, while St John of Damascus included them in the canon. Most date the Didache in the region of 70-90 AD; within living memory of the the Apostles. The Didache however, didn’t make the ‘cut’ at the Council of Nicea where the authoritative canon was decided in the wake of the Gnostic and Arian heretical debates.
    St. Athanasius speaks of the Didache, in connection with the deuterocanonical books of the Old Testament, as uncanonical yet recommended by the ancients for the reading of catechumens. Elsewhere he calls it a most profitable book. Rufinus similarly says that the ancients wished it to be read, but not to be used as an authority as to the Faith.

    A clear acknowledgment of the NT canon of 27 books appears in the 39th Festal Letter of Athanasius. Here the threefold division of Origen or Eusebius is abandoned. As ‘springs of salvation’ there are only the 27 writings in which ‘the doctrine of piety is proclaimed’. Over against them are set the apocrypha fabricated by the heretics. Only the Didache and Shepherd of Hermas — besides a few OT apocrypha — are permitted for reading by those newly received into the Church, since the Fathers have so appointed. But these writings are not “canonical”. We may however infer from the concession that the two writings mentioned still enjoyed very great esteem.
    Of course adultery, back in the day would probably warrant a PUBLIC confession and some serious shaming. In the Council of Ancyra it was decided that adulterers could not participate in communion and earned SEVEN years penance…

  22. Wow, to post anything in response to this subject is taking your life in your hands. Full disclaimer: 40 years a good guy. Having said that, infidelity is neither new or unusual. humans, being the frail moral animals they are, are not perfect. Just as Christians no longer stone prostitutes anymore, the moral pendulum will always swing (pun) until it finds an equilibrium and life goes on.
    My G*d, have I ever turned mellow in my old age.

    I would like to give you a complete reply, but this would take a book in itself, so I am forced to be briefer than I would like to be.
    I am not familiar with “The Didache”, but after reading Hans’ first post, I see that it freely (and somewhat carelessly, IMHO) “borrows” phrases and concepts from the four Gospels and then blends them almost at random, certainly with little or no regard to the context of the original writing. Just curious, can you quote chapter and verse (Old Testament and New Testament) where the concept of two commandments rather than ten, is stated?
    It certainly doesn’t meet the criteria for acceptance into the canon as given here:

    The author is completely unknown, in fact it is speculated that it is the work of several unknown writers. The date of writing is variously proposed as somewhere between 50 AD and the 3rd century, although it was not discovered until 1883.
    EBT, I don`t know if it has ever been denounced, but apparently it isn’t recognized by the Catholic Church, which does recognize some apocrypha.
    I did not mean to give offense, but I find the accepted books of the Bible to contain enough information for my use. In fact, I find new challenges in interpretation and understanding every time I read it.
