The “media” on the UVA rape story:

Then there’s this:
“Mr. Dana said that the report was punishment enough for those involved, and that they did not deserve to lose their jobs because the article “was not the result of patterns in the work of these people.””
In short, Jackie and the reporter at the rag called Rolling Stone can destroy the lives of any number of people without significant consequence. And the reporter is allowed to continue what she’s doing. ‘Punishment enough’ my a$$.
I don’t see what the MSM did wrong here.
They handled this “story” the same as every other story that fits their narrative.
“Ah, push it – push it good. Ah, push it – push it real good.”
The Rolling Stone forgives its own – why? Because of “The Cause”. Anyone doing horrible reporting against the left will be tarred and feathered.
Please …. Rolling Stone has suffered enough. And “Jackie” has had a tough time of it too. After all, the REAL victims here are the unknown unnamed women who will now be afraid to disclose that they may or may not have been raped. The tragedy of course being that school and frat boys who were wrongly implicated will now walk away scott free, with nothing but their reputations in tatters.

And now, following the reporting standards of Rolling Stone, the New York Times and all the assorted left-wing media: reporting direct from Bedlam our star reporter, the man who asks no hard questions as long as it fits the narrative, Yubin Hadd with the latest update on the third coming of Jesus Christ, a breaking story about invasion by space aliens, and an interview with the man who can steal the thoughts from his toaster oven and thereby prevent World War Ten . . .
So, basically, Erdely is sorry the story isn’t true, because she–and her colleagues–really wanted it to be true.
Once again, progressives hide behind their good intentions and take zero responsibility for the mess they make and the lives they ruin. What did Dan Rather say? “Fake but accurate.” That in a nutshell is the progressive creed.
Compared to these goons, Dan “Fake but Accurate” Rather is an icon of responsible reporting.
Dear Rolling Stone: In the real world, people lie. All the time. Bullshit is everywhere. You, more than anyone, must already know this. It’s your job as journalists to do basic fact checking so that this bullshit doesn’t leak over onto the pages of your magazine. And if it does then the fault, dear Wenner, lies not with your sources but with yourselves.

Rolling Stone got it so wrong so many times for a mag that was primarily created to cover the music biz…
-RUSH was ignored and ridiculed by them at the start and for many years. The Toronto power trio went on to become Canada’s premiere rock band and a top record and stage performance supergroup with worldwide appeal. RUSH is the ultimate of what is ‘progressive’ style heavy metal. They are The Beatles of PHM.
– Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin were also marginalized by RS at their start. We know how those bands made out.
RS was founded by a bunch of 50’s beatniks and early 60’s hippies who mainly worshipped the sounds of what they grew up on: The Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, the doors…Good stuff, but they always seemed to reject newer stuff; especially if it was not American. They were not very “progressive” in that sense at the time and they seem to still live in the past.
According to IFPI (International Fed. Phonographic Ind.) global recorded music sales were $39B in 2000 declining to $17B last year, a drop over 15 years of $22B.
Rolling Stone Magazine is involved in 2 declining industries and their pathetic attempt to be noticed could be the final nail in their long home.
